The holy grail - comfortable, stylish shoes?

Please help! Back to work (teaching) next week and I'm having my annual 'WTF do I wear on my feet?' crisis.

My hand is hovering worryingly close to these but I know (I KNOW!) they're not stylish really. Can anyone help? I need shoes that are comfy enough to wear all day (standing for most of it, walking across a large site for the rest), stylish enough to make me smile and ideally under £75. I'm thinking navy, ruby or black, but could be swayed...

I have several pair of high heels for work but unlike a teacher I'm not really on my feet a lot.
There's a nice mix of flat, kitten, court and high heels here:

I find Clarkes

Tantpoke · 30/08/2017 18:21

How about some ankle boots with a low heel, they will go with anything incl dresses.

Fekko · 30/08/2017 18:21

Oops wrong button ... I trash clarkes which is a pity because I got a couple of really nice brogues from there. I get Geox or Ecco - a bit hit or miss on styles (nice or butt-ugly).

BluebellGal · 30/08/2017 18:23

I find that Hotters look much better on the website than in real life. I nearly purchased some online and so glad I tried them on in store as they were hideous and actually not very comfortable! Don't do it without trying them on first

I've had success at M&S with these patent black loafers - they're really comfy (just posted on another thread in case anyone gets deja vu). I worried about looking too masculine but have had lots of compliments and feel very smart and confident in them (and I can walk for miles!)

BluebellGal · 30/08/2017 18:30

The budget is £75 so not sure why people are recommending R&B as that won't even buy you one shoe in there!

SwedishEdith · 30/08/2017 18:30

Dnne flatforms are pretty good. Something like this

Theycalledmethewildrose · 30/08/2017 18:44

That Dune shoe is lovely!!!!!!

Zara have a pair for half the price if you want to test the colour out OP. But bear in mind Zara shoes are unmercifully uncomfortable.

Theycalledmethewildrose · 30/08/2017 18:45

That should say a quarter of the price!

bonfireheart · 30/08/2017 18:50

Do you teach in primary or secondary OP? I taught secondary and was surprised at how the kids took notice of what I wore. Even had the year 11 girls tell me they stood outside my form each day just to see what I wore because they liked my style. All that did was make me more paranoid about what I wore knowing they were inspecting it!

TheRattleBag · 30/08/2017 18:53

What sort of clothes do you wear Yogi? I'd recommend Dr Martens every time, but they might not suit if you're a wafty kind of clothes person.... if you know what I mean!

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/08/2017 18:56

I have some Hotter heels. Which they don't seem to do any more - they are just bog standard court shoes, unexciting and not wildly stylish, but they don't scream "Flat footed Grandma" in the way that a lot of Hotter shoes do. I like the Dune shoes and the M & S loafers. I find that M & S shoes last me for years, but I trash Geox or Clarks in a few months.

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/08/2017 18:57

Fly London are also super comfortable, as are Docs, once they have been worn in, although DD1 has taken both pairs of mine!

Eeyoresgloomyfriend · 30/08/2017 18:59

Gabor are very comfy and not totally hideous

SwedishEdith · 30/08/2017 18:59

Just spotted the price of that Dune one. They do do cheaper ones.

MaisyPops · 30/08/2017 19:00

Clarks do really comfy heels with padding and in built platforms.
I also have a lovely pair of wedges from them.

For when I'm in trousers i like these sketchers. Its like wearing slippers. www.schuh.co.uk/womens/skechers-microburst-one-up-black-trainers/1915757070/

Students notice the most odd things.
One lad noticed I'd changed my eyeliner colour!

But then again I remember a teacher who used to wear the same very limited outfits and I can still recall the pink dress 15 years later. Grin

traviata · 30/08/2017 19:03

I just bought these.

I also second Shoe Embassy, love their stuff and so far it isn't too narrow.

No offence to pps, but I can't imagine being on my feet all day and walking across site in kitten heel slingbacks.

CompletelyUnknown · 30/08/2017 19:06

I was a medical rep in a past life and I had a pair of hush puppy court shoes. I've had them for 7 years and I still use them for court fun ok enough!! Super comfy.

Highly recommend

YogiYoni · 30/08/2017 19:08

Sorry, I should have said: I teach secondary in a school with a pretty strict dress code. They need to be proper shoes. No open toes, sandals, etc.

I tend to wear pencil skirts and tops or fit and flare type dresses. I already own the clarks hambles and a lovely pair of pointed black flats, and I've just ordered a pair of kitten heels, now I'm kind of after something 'fun' Hmm but still smart...

Laiste · 30/08/2017 19:24

Those art shoes are all basically the same! (the courts i mean)

DearTeddyRobinson · 30/08/2017 19:27

I was a big fan of Geox pumps in my smart office days, something like this went with most skirts/dresses... Any good?

Maya12 · 30/08/2017 19:50

I swear by Think! shoes, can walk in them forever and I wear them till they fall apart a few years later (just as well given they're not cheap even in the sales)

Ruby Shoo ?

No idea how comfy they are but they definitely look fun.

What about Gabriella - available in multiple colours. Or Charlotte ?
