Mink scrunchies? Sad

I use these in my own hair colour. Not me in the photo unfortunately, I'm very jealous of her hair!

Does this look awful?
Black velvet scrunchie.
How old do you think I am?

Wasn't there an episode of Sex and the City dedicated to how unfashionable/90's the scrunchie was?!

SureIusedtobetaller · 29/08/2017 09:26

We have household supply of plain brown bobbles. Just pick up one from wherever a daughter has left it Hmm
Mink? Can't believe anyone uses real fur these days. That's disgusting.

didyoureally · 29/08/2017 09:27

Mink? Really? What a waste of a life

JeffJarrett · 29/08/2017 09:27

Fur isn't just a by-product, these animals are bred, caged and are then starved so they can more easily cut the skin off (sometimes whilst they are alive). I don't know how anyone could be OK with that for a scrunchie.

I use Popbands, they have loads of colours and don't leave a mark in the hair after or give me a tension headache.

Autumnleaves105 · 29/08/2017 09:27

I haven't worn a scrunched since I was in primary school!
I use elastic hair bands in a variety of 'hair colour' shades.

PiratePanda · 29/08/2017 09:28

It doesn't look awful, just dated.

I use simple brown hairbands the same colour as my hair. I used to use stick barrettes for more complex updos, but they've disappeared from the market (they were never "in", exactly, so can't have gone "out") to my great sadness. Sigh!

Oblomov17 · 29/08/2017 09:30

I do think scrunchies are ageing and a bit twee.

Auldspinster · 29/08/2017 09:34

I use invisibobbles or a scrunchie if i'm on my own at home.

MollyoftheFolly · 29/08/2017 09:39

Mink scrunchie? Say what now? Surely that's made up?

FabulouslyGlamorousFerret · 29/08/2017 09:54

Aren't Chinese 'Mink' products often found to be cat or dog fur? Yuk

Well I feel well and truly told about scrunchies! I'll burn them.

Mink - just no, I'm assuming that's a joke.

I have very thick hair so I'll search out bobbles for thick hair. Ta.

Mink fur scrunchies?..........Not only are they ethically vile they are ugly.

I'm another one who was Shock for the above reasons.

I use invisibobbles because they don't leave a kink in my hair when I take them out.

... and they look fucking hideous

TheFairyCaravan · 29/08/2017 10:10

Mink?!?! 😡😡

Not only is it cruel but it's the ugliest thing I've seen in years

MrsGotobed · 29/08/2017 10:15

Jeez how could anyone think that it's ok to use mink hair scrunched FFS.

It's not as though there's no alternative options.

hollieberrie · 29/08/2017 10:21

I use these (the clear ones)
www.boots.com/beauty/hair/hair-accessories/scunci-2mm-silicone-elastics-20-pack-10121852

Am liking the look of the invisibobble! A new one to try..

silkpyjamasallday · 29/08/2017 11:05

Sorry, obviously touched a nerve there, I forget the anger about fur. I eat meat and wear leather, I don't think there is any difference between the them and fur. Animals aren't skinned alive, PETA is not an organisation you should believe. I know people that work on fur farms, and there is not any cruelty, beyond what any animal in captivity for human consumption experiences. I'm accepting of a vegans anger or disgust at my choices but not of those who consume other animal products and turn a blind eye to their welfare because they aren't cute and fluffy. Seems to have rather derailed the thread which I didn't intend. Sorry OP

Eminybob · 29/08/2017 11:48

There is a huge difference between consuming meat products for food, and slaughtering animals purely for vanity purposes.
And I bet you look like a complete fucking twat in your dead animal scrumchie.

Grace789 · 29/08/2017 11:54

Are scrunchies back in fashion?? I must he well behind the times! I've not worn one since circa 1994 😂

hopsalong · 29/08/2017 12:09

I just bought my first scrunchie in twenty years. Got sick of minging elastics that go saggy and stretched too fast and also the various heavy grips I own. Had an intuition that they must be back in fashion like everything else I had when I was fourteen.

WhiskeySourpuss · 29/08/2017 12:11

I use invisibobbles but I still end up with a kink

I do have a rather fetching leopard print (not real obviously) scrunchie for when I'm dossing around at home Blush
