Why do you wear foundation ?

Just that.
Why?

Makes me look human.

Teddy7878 · 19/08/2017 14:05

I have quite patchy skin with red cheeks and I find it's the only thing that makes it look good. Tinted moisturisers don't have such good coverage

longingformore · 19/08/2017 14:08

I don't wear it everyday, but I like to if I'm seeing lots of people. Honestly, it makes me feel more confident. I still get hormonal spots, have some redness/uneven skin tone, and dark circles under my eyes (not die to tiredness, I've had them since I was a little girl), so for me I just like to cover that up. I'm quite a shy, nervous person, but with some makeup I look quite pretty which gives me confidence when meeting new people.

I feel like I really shouldn't say that, but it's true.

longingformore · 19/08/2017 14:09

Due to tiredness *

RaininSummer · 19/08/2017 14:10

To when up skin tone as i look unwell without it and have no confidence.

travis45 · 19/08/2017 14:11

I only wear it when I go out, which is never. I wear it to try even out my skin as it can get red.

Sparkletastic · 19/08/2017 14:12

I sometimes prefer the way I look with it - even-toned glowing skin.

MessyBun247 · 19/08/2017 14:14

I havent had a full nights sleep since I was about 6 months pregnant with DD2. Shes now 18 months Angry

I literally look ill without a full coverage foundation.

Im hoping once I start getting more solid sleep I can switch to something lighter.

SomeOtherFuckers · 19/08/2017 14:15

To cover my eczema because it makes me look diseased

teaandcakeat8 · 19/08/2017 14:15

Evens out my skin tone, covers up blemishes. I feel more confident with it on although I don't use much.

SilentlyScreamingAgain · 19/08/2017 14:23

Why not?

userofthiswebsite · 19/08/2017 14:24

Soooo many reasons.

I'm incredibly pale to the extent of looking as though I'm diseased. While foundation doesn't make me look more 'well' once it's on I can put blusher and highlighter which makes me look a bit more like a normal person. Blusher and highlight on my skin without foundation looks odd because...

... in addition to being super pale, lucky me, I have a propensity for being bitten and those bites swelling up and although I don't get normal spots very much I often get cystic acne on my chin which makes me look like a freak.

I am intensely jealous of those people who have lovely skin and can go out without always putting make up on first. They've no idea how lucky are.

WatchingFromTheWings · 19/08/2017 14:25

I wear it to cover acne and acne scars, bad skin tone, dark circles and I've got those brown patches you get caused by hormones (forget the name). I look like shot without it!

WatchingFromTheWings · 19/08/2017 14:25

*shit, not shot!

Maudlinmaud · 19/08/2017 14:26

Illness. Without foundation I would scare rats out of a ditch. Believe me it's necessary.

Christmastree43 · 19/08/2017 14:27

Just so used to it that i wouldn't dare go out without it unless on holiday etc as everyone I know would say 'are you ill' or 'you look tired' etc etc

Rufus27 · 19/08/2017 14:31

Confidence; and to avoid people asking if I am ill (which they always do when I don't wear it - hereditary dark circles and v pale).

Rufus27 · 19/08/2017 14:32

Ditto Christmas Grin

Queenofthedrivensnow · 19/08/2017 14:45

It evens out my skin but mostly because other make up sits on top of it :-)

Ivory200 · 19/08/2017 14:46

I have reasonably good firm, not too wrinkly skin, but it is a mish mash of sun damage, old freckles, dark areas round the eyes, some small scars from childhood accidents, and a few broken veins. Without foundation I look tired and invisible. With it, I feel instantly alive and much more myself.

Judydreamsofhorses · 19/08/2017 14:52

I just use it over my nose and cheeks - it evens my skin out, and gives me a base to put on blusher. I don't think anyone would know I wore it from looking at me, tbh.

eloisesparkle · 19/08/2017 15:35

Thank you for all your replies. I wasn't expecting such a great response.
I grew up at a time when few of my contemporaries wore it ( in Ireland) but when I visited London ( I adored those visits) I noticed British girls wore more than us Irish girls.
BUT THAT'S NOT TRUE ANY MORE.
I don't wear it as my skin is freckly ( with no acne/ spots) and it just looks too matte on me, I use bronzer to give me a bit of colour otherwise I am like death warmed up.

OP posts:
TallulahBetty · 19/08/2017 15:41

I don't. I'm freckly too and foundation makes me too "not me". Very rarely if my skin is spotty, I'll wear a bit for a special occasion such as a wedding or going out.

Cloudyapples · 19/08/2017 15:42

Blemishes and scarring

PollyPerky · 19/08/2017 15:46

Because my skin is deathly pale. Very good skin with no wrinkles thanks to sunblock for 25 years every day , but so pale- translucent and violet under eye colour- not tiredness, it's the veins (dermo said.)

Without it people ask if i am ill-like when you have got flu or something.

I use a light reflective, light foundation- Dior Star- , under eye concealer and a pale peach blusher. Makes me look alive.
