I've finished with Mitchum deodorant

I've bought this for years as I thought it was more effective, last year it seems to have been reformulated and now it doesn't work! 30 mins after showering and using it, it smells rank, not sweaty just rank, bought some 59p stuff in desperation from Aldi yesterday, and it's worked fine. Anyone else noticed this?

Works for me but my armpits swell up 🤔I'm on urban cowboy it's working for me

123MothergotafleA · 17/08/2017 15:54

I've conducted my own experiment on this matter, and found that I was just as well not to use Anything!
I washed underarms and groins ( avoiding the sensitive areas) with antibacterial. hand wash and let nature take its course.
Result:- Absolutely no problems whatsoever.
I'm afraid my conclusion is that we are being manipulated by the media and the " beauty" industry, and we are all falling for it.

bigsighall · 17/08/2017 16:07

Sanex 48 hour (it has to be the blue 48 hour one) works well. Driclour (sp?) once a week too. Literally the only combo that works for me (and I've tried them all!!)

ShaneBitchy · 17/08/2017 16:12

Perspirex is the only thing that really works for me, the Comfort one- the others burn and make my armpits itch.
I've had Botox in my armpits which has drastically reduced the problem but I still need to use Perspirex a couple of times a week when it's warm.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 17/08/2017 16:14

I use the men's stick (the £5 one) and it works much better than the women's. I tried Dove recently and it was pointless.

twofloorsup · 17/08/2017 16:41

I would also recommend sure maximum protection. It is £5 but you can usually get it on offer somewhere. It lasts me a month and I never sweat under the arms. I work in a kitchen so this I consider a good buy as part of wearing clean whites.

Stickaforkinimdone · 17/08/2017 16:46

Odaban-you can buy it online

Otherwise botox if you can get it. I had good results from taking Probabthine tablets prescribed by the GP however used to get a rather dry mouth as a side effect which was a bit unpleasant at times-was worth it for the results tho!

thenightsky · 17/08/2017 16:56

Mitchum takes a lifetime to dry! I gave up with it when I found it was still sticky, even after using my hairdryer on it.

BubbleBed · 17/08/2017 17:02

I haven't noticed a difference and I've been using the roll on for years. I do alternate between the smells and have about four on the go at a time tbf, but not noticed it stop working.

SouthernComforts · 17/08/2017 17:07

@ShaneBitchy do you mind saying how much the botox cost please? I'd seriously consider it if affordable as I'm sick of being a sweaty cow Angry

SouthernComforts · 17/08/2017 17:07

And yes OP I think Mitcham has stopped working too

tigerdriverII · 17/08/2017 17:16

Vichy 48 hour. A bit pricey but smells lush. My only problem is DS(15) who nicks every one - plus all my perfume. Hulking great macho lump, smells divineGrin

BayLeaves · 17/08/2017 17:20

I like Mum unscented.

If you fancy going 'au naturel' try washing or moisturising with coconut oil. It has natural antibacterial properties AND it makes your underarms lovely and soft. I find I still get whiffy overnight or if I do a lot of exercise on a hot day, but for ordinary purposes the coconut oil works great.

paintingbutterflies · 17/08/2017 17:24

I've been using Neal's Yard peppermint and lime.

I used to use Mitchum too. I went through a really whiffy stage last summer!

JaneEyre70 · 17/08/2017 17:29

I've just bought the gel Mitchum one and it gives you a really distinctive smell that isn't sweat but really isn't nice. And it takes forever to try. And it's a PITA using the hairdryer to dry it!!

ShaneBitchy · 17/08/2017 17:30

southern Most places I looked were £400/£500 but my friend recommended someone who charged £200.

ShaneBitchy · 17/08/2017 17:31

Not sure if that's because she's known my friend a while so 'mates rates' as that's not the price I thought it would be initially.

Stickaforkinimdone · 17/08/2017 17:36

You may be able to get it on the NHS-this is how I got it but I think it differs area to area as to whether they'll fund it. Worth checking tho

StormTreader · 17/08/2017 17:43

I tried the Perspirex Comfort roll-on and it made my armpits itch for a week afterwards, would not recommend unless you like looking like a chimpanzee!

CauliflowerSqueeze · 17/08/2017 17:47

OP - I had no idea that Mitchum had changed their "recipe" !! I found the unscented one excellent for several years but this year have found it crap!!

thenightsky · 17/08/2017 17:48

Garner Minerals work best for me and cheap in the pound shop or Savers. The pink lid and the green lid ones dry quite quickly and don't sting.

Queenioqueenio · 17/08/2017 17:49

Lots of suggestions here thanks.

hiccupgirl · 17/08/2017 19:55

I find the Mitcham stick ones work fine still but they do make me smell of them and my clothes really smell of the stick by the end of the day. I prefer the Sanex stick one but it's not as effective against sweating.

Littlelondoner · 17/08/2017 20:07

Mitchem leaves really bad yellow stains on me...Confused

JanetStWalker · 17/08/2017 20:19

Another vote for Sure Maximum Protection, I was sceptical but it really does work like a charm.
