Tennis outfit for the chunky of leg - Photo included!

I'm taking up tennis lessons and want to buy an outfit. I love tennis skirts on other people... but my legs are a bit chunky (see photo!) and most of the skirts are really very short indeed. Any recommendations for something a little more flattering?

I'm 5'6", size 12 but wide around the hips.

I have a navy blue skort which is a bit less a-line than that and is quite flattering (I'm a similar shape) I got it from a school uniform shop but there quite a few around. I wear it with a tight navy polo shirt (or white) which I think looks ok. Wearing trainer socks rather than ankle socks lengthens the legs a bit too

Thanks - that sounds the kind of thing but I can only see teenage sizes which isn't going to work... any links?

Your legs look like mine 😃 i like to put just the dove tan on to take away the whiteness, im sure it makes them look a bit thinner.

AliceLutherNeeMorgan · 15/08/2017 22:09

This one says skirt but is actually a skort

I was also just going to say about a tan too Grin I think it always improves matters for us chunky legged people!

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 15/08/2017 22:20

If you want something longer, try a golf skirt.
They normally have integral shorts to stop knicker flashing

TheDuckSaysMoo · 15/08/2017 22:22

Your legs look absolutely fine. There's nothing wrong with what you are wearing in your photo.

Ohyesiam · 15/08/2017 22:26

Actually your legs are ok.

ShatnersBassoon · 15/08/2017 22:27

That's what most people taking tennis lessons will look like in their kit. Wear longer shorts if you want more coverage, but you really won't look different to anyone else there if you choose the skirt.

BackforGood · 15/08/2017 22:38

I don't see what is wrong with what you are wearing Confused

bibblebobblebubble · 15/08/2017 23:26

Thanks for the kind comments :) just don't feel comfortable in something so short. I might try the Decathlon one if they do free returns and I've just put self-tan onto my Ocado shop....

What about short Lycra leggings and then separately a skirt or shorts on top, or is that too fussy?

Your legs really aren't chunky. I'd hazard a guess their shape is determined by your height but honestly they are just fine!

MyKingdomForBrie · 16/08/2017 01:42

Perfectly nice legs!

BritInUS1 · 16/08/2017 02:03

Your leg looks fine, but if you're not comfortably what about short leggings under the skirt? x

AssassinatedBeauty · 16/08/2017 03:10

Your legs are fine, not chunky at all. They're nice normal legs. Hope you can find an outfit that you feel comfortable in.

elfinpre · 16/08/2017 03:22

You don't have chunky legs, you have normal legs.

I have legs like Serena Williams - chunky - but no more qualms than she does about wearing a tennis skirt.

VisitorFromAlphaStation · 16/08/2017 04:25

It's probably just that you view your own legs from sort of above, so they might look chunky to you, but not to anybody else. Don't worry about the outfit, it's OK.

Hebe2017 · 16/08/2017 04:32

OMG! I want to say you legs are fine, because my legs are just like yours, i also have fat arms too!!!!!!!!! Sleeveless Dress i just purchased is just gone from me!!!!!! I want to be like this, Aha, but it's just too hard to lose my weight......

BigGreenOlives · 16/08/2017 04:44

Don't wear leggings under your skirt, you'll draw attention to your legs, that are in any event, perfectly good.

dudsville · 16/08/2017 04:50

Great legs! I'd also want more coverage. How you find something you're comfortable in. Good luck with the tennis!

Cantseethewoods · 16/08/2017 04:56

My mum buys golf skirts for tennis as they are a bit longer. They tend not to have the built in shorts though. Some running skorts are also made in a longer length.

NotAnotheChinHair · 16/08/2017 05:47

I think you have really nice legs but these are absolutely fab: bambooclothing.co.uk/shop/womens-bamboo-capri-skirt-leggings-black/

Eragonsegg · 16/08/2017 06:35

Goodness I don't have a special tennis outfit I just throw on some joggers!

Oddbutnotodd · 16/08/2017 09:08

I play tennis all year round and have worn whatever I felt like depending on the weather; so at the moment a skort. I also have leggings with an over skirt attached. No one will be looking at what you're wearing. Btw your legs are fine and so is your outfit.

bibblebobblebubble · 16/08/2017 11:38

Eragonsegg I know I don't actually need a tennis outfit... but I want one to feel the part... :)

I play tennis outdoors all year round so what I wear depends on the weather, but I do love a little skirt. Most important things to me though, are pockets that hold tennis balls...
