DeltaG, may I ask where you buy your clothes from? I feel the same as you, but generally can't find stuff I like.

JaimesGoldenHand · 08/09/2017 08:25

I am so sick of this fucking obsession with frills and ruffles and cold shoulder tops. They look ridiculous (on me) and every single top has them. I saw a cold shoulder sport tshirt the other day FFS. I just want a top that skims my lumps and covers my bum and doesn't have fucking stupid frilly bits everywhere. For the love of God.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 08/09/2017 08:29

"A great "no-sex-please" item of clothing"Hmm

I'm with you OP, it's bloody horrible. But how some posters can work out the sex life of its wearer, I have no clue!

Lunaballoon · 08/09/2017 08:30

Retailers are like sheep. Bloody frilly sleeves are everywhere! Confused

RubyGoat · 08/09/2017 08:34

That's dreadful. £35 for a fairly straightforward top that will look hideously dated in about 18 months. No thanks.

sparklefarts · 08/09/2017 08:36

Oh £35 Shock

coconutwater1 · 08/09/2017 08:36

Ok if you about 5, otherwise its awful.

farfarawayfromhome · 08/09/2017 08:38

I'm a lone voice here, but I really like it!

AylaBayla · 08/09/2017 08:38

Goodness, how can anyone look at that top and think it's "horrific"? It's a tshirt with a bit of detailing at the sleeve. Am I missing something else? It's just a frill.

Bit of a strange overreaction to an item of clothing.

farfarawayfromhome · 08/09/2017 08:39

I also loathe boden so I'm not sure why I like this!

NomDePlumeReloaded · 08/09/2017 08:41

no sex please

no men will bother you

Fucks sake.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 08/09/2017 08:42

I agree Nom Angry.

Fekko · 08/09/2017 08:43

What is the point of the ruffles? I saw someone in a andy pandy striped shirt with a ruffle running along the arm, up the shoulder then down the front. How would you iron that?

Trills · 08/09/2017 08:45

I think it's the other way around.

Boden have a made a frilly-sleeved top - and of course one of the colour choices is breton stripes.

Because Boden know that there's some segment of the population who will always choose the breton stripes.

Fekko · 08/09/2017 08:48

I like Breton stripes. It reminds me of when I was little be we used to get the fishermen jumpers every year when we went to France.

DeltaG · 08/09/2017 08:53

@Leilanii - I'm not particularly loyal to one store and I mix things from all over the place. Often I can't find exactly what I'm looking for, so I'll look on ebay or in charity shops (when I have the chance). For example, I wanted some trainers with pom-poms on them, but don't like any of the ones currently available (and am not prepared to pay designer prices for such a 'fashion' item). So I found a pair of trainers I liked and found poms poms on Etsy and clipped them on.

Places I use fairly regularly for fashion-type items are ASOS, Zara, Topshop, Zalando, Bon Prix, Boohoo, Miss Selfridge, La Redoute (also brill for duvet covers and bed linen!!), Chi Chi for occasion dresses

For basics I use Uniqlo, M&S, H&M, NAF NAF, occasionally Benetton

And for neutral staples (coats, boots, bags etc) I often buy designer or technical, for e.g. Marc Jacobs wool winter coat, Burberry trench, Canada Goose winter parka, Musto wool pea coat (which I changed the buttons on as I wanted silver, not navy), Mulberry for bags, Prada black patent ankle boots etc. I try to buy these out of season or in the sale at net-a-porter, Selfridges, Harvey Nicolls etc. to avoid paying full-price if possible.

Sorry, this turned into a bit of a long post!

Peppermeant · 08/09/2017 09:49

Horrific Hmm

Honestly, I sometimes think that some of posters on S&B will only be happy if everyone wears a nice, plain fitted top with a cardigan and straight leg jeans Grin

MaybeDoctor · 08/09/2017 10:02

I thought it would be a short-sleeved top with a frill sleeve - I think this can work quite well and be flattering on the arms.

But that is rather odd. I always avoid items where there are two different types of fabric sewn together eg. jersey and woven cotton, as they never seem to survive the wash very well and one shrinks at a different rate to the other.

VeryCunningStunt · 08/09/2017 11:40

I don't understand this frilly sleeve thing ~ do they not bunch up when you put a jacket on? Confused

Leilaniii · 08/09/2017 12:02

Thanks DeltaG, some good suggestions there. I hadn't heard of half of those shops, so I'm off to have a look. Thanks again.

Oh, and about Boden... it annoys me that I am always enticed by their nice pictures but am always let down by quality. Same with Rachel Riley. Shocking quality.

DeltaG · 08/09/2017 12:54

@Leilaniii - you're welcome!

Oldraver · 08/09/2017 13:34

I've recently seen a mac with frilled sleeves...it looked ridiculous

BusterGonad · 08/09/2017 13:48

I'm with peppermeant, I like a frilly sleeve but find Breton's so incredibly boring, what with them being every other mums uniform! Yawn!

TheFirstMrsDV · 08/09/2017 15:56

Ugh
Please let there be an end to frills, froof, cold shoulders and other weird cut outs soon.

Flyinggeese · 08/09/2017 16:10

Therealslimshady1 very good!
