Replacement for Soap and Glory cc

Why is it that whenever I find a really good, reasonably priced product and it becomes a staple, the effing thing gets discontinued? This CC superfluid is the only one I've used (and I've tried more expensive ones -- Clinique, Estée Lauder, as well as some of French supermarket brands) that gives me a really natural finish, not too matte, but takes care of broken veins on cheeks and open pores on nose.

www.soapandglory.com/make-yourself-youthful-cc-superfluid-spf15-716

According to Soap and Glory website (where reviews are pretty much perfect, sigh) the CC cream isn't available any more. Also out of stock on Boots website and haven't seen it in store for ages. Can anyone who's used it recommend a similar light-textured / watery alternative?

I use the light colour which is pretty perfect for my skin now but a little dark in winter, so open to a product with paler tones.

Have you already tried Bourjois 1-2-3 CC cream?

TheOneWhoKnocks · 10/08/2017 11:43

No7 Stay Perfect Superlight might do what you need to it. It looks very natural and does feel very light and moisturising, but the coverage is pretty impressive.

hopsalong · 10/08/2017 18:46

Thank you both.

But, oh crap, I've already tried both of those and didn't get on with either. The Bourjois seemed very different and much thicker / more makeuppy. I did really like the watery texture of the No 7 one, but the finish is too matte for me (I naturally have a very shiny face even though not oily!) and also seemed more like regular foundation. Which I have never worn. Basically this CC fluid was the only thing I've ever found that looked natural enough to wear every day.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for anything very light / non-matte? I don't even mind paying more at this point.

Drat. How about Olay Total Effects BB cream? It looks quite dark but blends well on my skin, even though I generally struggle to find a foundation that's light enough. Decent coverage as well, and doesn't feel heavy.

hopsalong · 10/08/2017 21:31

I haven't tried that one. For some reason have a weird prejudice against Olay as a brand (an ex-boyfriend used to use Olay moisturiser and spend ages putting it on in the morning and it really pissed me off). But this sounds good. Is it very creamy, though? I don't have oily skin, but strongly prefer more watery textures (remnants of teenage acne?).

If anyone has any other good ideas, please shoot.

I hate the feeling of heavy foundation so, on the rare occasion I can be arsed to apply anything, I mix no.7 stay perfect super light with my moisturiser. But you just said you've tried that - sorry I got out of bed to check the brand name halfway through posting! (And got a big sigh from dh who's trying to sleep...)

Iratelaundryperson · 10/08/2017 23:47

I am a big fan of soap and glory cc superfluid and was really disappointed they have discontinued it. I have started using m&s Rosie by autograph sheer complexion fluid in nude as I am quite pale and like you found the cc superfluid 'good light' great for summer but slightly dark for winter. Would definitely recommend the Rosie product, the reviews in the m& s website are not great and it does feel a slightly sticky texture as you first apply it but I'm very happy with it, it blends well and had compliments on it just like the soap am deathly glory superfluid.

Iratelaundryperson · 10/08/2017 23:50
  • not sure where deathly came from!
Properjob · 10/08/2017 23:56

Another fan of Olay version, it's got that sheen you're after and lasts a good while on my slightly oily T zone. Have tried others but it's the best. All the No 7 are far too greasy now, they changed them! May try the M&S one now though!!

HarlettC · 11/08/2017 22:21

It's not a bb cream but have you tried mac face and body foundation?

It's luminously sheer I use it on "no makeup days" and on holiday

It's buildable too should you want more coverage

They have also brought out mac next to nothing foundation again not a BB cream but bought that and at the moment I'm in love with it it's my I'm not wearing anything but secretly I am product and had loads of compliments on my skin since wearing it

PinkLipsDontLie · 12/08/2017 07:51

My absolute holy grail no makeup foundation is Pixi H2O skin tint! It's light and watery and cooling. It's like a cool drink for your face, which still looks bare but gorgeous when you're wearing it. I have a bottle all year round and will never stop buying it as long as they make it. Also Tha shades are v light. I have light skin and wear the nude. Its sheer so I can get away with it both summer and winter, as I don't really tan.

Cheesymonster · 12/08/2017 13:35

The Pixi one sounds great, where do you buy it from? Is there anywhere I can try it in store?

I use Urban Decay One and Done in light, it's lovely.

MargotMoon · 12/08/2017 15:36

Oh it's so infuriating! I feel your pain @hopsalong

I used to use Clinique Supermoisture and the fuckers discontinued that! Will try some of the suggestions on here as they sound like the sort of light, not-too-make-uppy products I am looking for to replace it. It was the perfect texture and coverage and had a light-reflecting finish that made my skin glow...

Timefortea99 · 12/08/2017 15:38

Pixi h2o skin tint is sold in M & S

Cheesymonster · 12/08/2017 19:19

Thank you Time

Wonders71 · 12/08/2017 19:21

Sometimes they discontinue it then bring it out with new packaging!

AliBingo · 12/08/2017 23:01

They have three bottles on eBay, might be worth snapping them up to keep you going...

Llamacorn · 12/08/2017 23:09

Benefit big easy is very similar imo, if not better.
Also my dd recently got instal flawless from Rimmel and surprisingly it's actually brilliant! Better than a lot of my higher end ones, really evens skin tone and gives a nice light glow which lots of people have actually commented on. Think it was only a fiver too.

You can go round a lot of make up counters and get samples to try.

Boots website says that stocks coming soon, not that it's sold out. You can register for a stock alert and says will usually be within 2 weeks.
Could they be repackaging or changing an ingredient perhaps?

Bernie6774 · 31/08/2017 22:07

I'm in the same boat. Have used Soap and Glory CC for a couple of years now and can't find any in stock anywhere. Did you find a good replacement? Would be interested to hear as down to last bottle with just under half left!

MargotMoon · 27/09/2017 08:23

@hopsalong Any joy on a replacement??

hopsalong · 27/09/2017 09:47

Ugh, no, sadly. I bought the Pixi one and definitely liked the way it looked, but it gave me spots. (Happens occasionally to me with foundation-type make-up, even though I don't normally get spots.)

Currently I have gone back to moisturiser and NARS concealer on red veins etc. But I miss my glowing even face. (I have a tiny bit left in Soap and Glory bottle which tragically I thought I would save up for special occasions.)

Any other ideas anyone?

OP posts:
hopsalong · 27/09/2017 09:50

PS forgot to mention that I had already signed up to Beauty Pie (despite hardly wearing any other make-up) because it's a start up by Marcia Kilgore who founded Soap and Glory. Somehow / madly had the idea she might have the CC cream magic touch...

But their versions are horrible, chalky, dry, and prone to separating in the bottle.

OP posts:
Gatekeeper · 27/09/2017 09:58

Try Lily Lo bb cream, you can get little samples to try

Deathraystare · 27/09/2017 17:13

Why is it that whenever I find a really good, reasonably priced product and it becomes a staple, the effing thing gets discontinued?

Yeah I hear you! Actually I really rather like La Roche Posay CC- it covers some redness. However not for greasy skin.
