So if your style is kind of boho/hippy-ish - where do you shop?

Hypothetically of course - have no money so am asking purely for window shopping purposes

I really like this site but would love to know of other "different" clothes places online.

would Jigsaw be too mainstream?

Miaou · 28/03/2007 21:52

I don't know - I live a million miles from any shops - do they have stuff online?

I should add, the site I posted up is a bit more "mainstream" than I really like - but gives a bit of an idea! I tend to make my own stuff

I often find things I like in H&M and Gap on the very rare occasions that I go shopping. Sorry no help to you though as they are not "different" at all

Spidermama · 28/03/2007 21:58

Nice site Miaou.
There's a shop in Brighton which does Yumi stuff and also has Komodo and Uttam. I love this shop. I also look at Uttam and Komodo stuff on Ebay. Oilily is similar but mainly for children as is Balu.

Top shop have gorgeous smock-type tops which are similar to the Yumi ones in really nice fabric by a woman who's name escapes me.

Mmm, thanks! My big problem (well, apart from the no money one ) is that I live so far from the shops so I can't browse anywhere for little "bits" that would make me look individual. I would need to go down to Edinburgh/Glasgow which is hours away! So I have to look online for stuff.

Spidermama - thanks for the names - I will look out for their stuff on ebay

Incidentally - I got the Aric Sigman book out of the library last week and am reading it - very interesting!!

how about namaste uk

Aefondkiss · 28/03/2007 22:08

I like the yumi stuff, what are the sizes like?

I am short size 10-12 with big boobs, but I am very tempted by a yumi dress, but then I seldom wear dresses.... okay make that never..

Miaou · 28/03/2007 22:11

Ooooh cheeryface, lovely!! Will bookmark that and go through it tomorrow

OP posts:
Spidermama · 28/03/2007 22:13

Yes Namaste is another one.

I'm still reading the book Miaou. I still let my 2 year old watch telly, but much less and not daily.

cheeryface · 28/03/2007 22:15

miaou, i have never ordered from them so can't tell you if it's decent stuff or whatever but it looks good. i am going to give them a try anyway!

Tamum · 28/03/2007 22:16

Oh bum, I was going to suggest Tansen but it's in your OP You will just have to come to Edinburgh, there are several alternative type shops near us that sell Uttam and the like. Have you looked at Bishopston Trading at all? Not as trendy as Uttam but they have some very nice stuff, all fair trade. The sales are very good value, but the shops are all down South

Miaou · 28/03/2007 22:23

OOoh no not seen that before Tamum, lovely stuff - trendy is a word that puts me off tbh, so I really like their things!! Prices are not bad either.

I am determined to get down to Edinburgh and see you one day - I shall save up my pennies

Miaou · 28/03/2007 22:27

No - too "fashionable" birdybump - and too many people wear it - thanks for the suggestion though!

OP posts:
Tamum · 28/03/2007 22:29

You can buy Uttam London and kids stuff in TK Maxx - they have loads of it in there. Not much use for you now but maybe but next time you're near one...

Toast (www.toastbypost.co.uk) has fab boho stuff but v expensive.

I buy a lot of stuff on ebay.

SenoraPostrophe · 02/04/2007 20:27

ha!

my style is hippyish and I acheive it by not shopping and just wearing clothes until they look "gently distressed" (or something like that).

Miaou · 02/04/2007 20:27

yes you'll see all my links are to ebay !!

Never knowingly pay full price for my clothes, me

Or I put my eco-friendly smug hat on and say I am recycling unwanted clothes

OP posts:
Miaou · 02/04/2007 20:30

I've been doing that for years Senora, hence why I am now looking at buying things - having not bought anything new for myself in about five years most of my clothes are beginning to fall apart - so I am looking to replace some bits after this baby is born. I currently have no style (am the original fleece/jeans combo person) so am looking around to see what I like just now.

And I quite enjoy window shopping via computer too
