Hello, this thread is a little old and the links are out of date. Take a look at this handy page for a round-up of Mumsnetters' favourite beauty dupes.

And of course theres the Ordinary for serums etc., and I think they're releasing an spf soon as well. Very cheap.

SueMacartney · 23/07/2017 10:33

Fluffy and never how do you sign up for them?

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/07/2017 10:44

Just google valued opinions and click on register.

I do nectar canvas too for the Christmas shop. You can buy food online using nectar points.

Unicorn81 · 23/07/2017 14:43

Primark micellar water and primer also good. Those 99p face packs are also just as good as some expensive ones. Oh and primark do good skincare too but i would have to travel to a larger store for that

SueMacartney · 23/07/2017 16:12

Thanks fluffy.

I've been loving elf. They have a lip balm that's three quid- but it leaves a lovely berry stain. Essence (German brand) have a good waterfast (not resistant) eye liner for under £3. Kiko has a good matte waterproof eyeliner for £6. But kiko always has a sale on, and they are good for makeup (eye, foundation, and lippies) for not much money.

Wet 'n Wild (I can only get them on amazon) have lipsticks that I can get under £5 and the colours are thisclose to my nars luxemburg and mac heroine lippies. If you look at pinterest you'll see a lot of dupes out there.

Oh! Don't sleep on W7 products. A lot of the makeup is too light for me (I'm the colour of good toasted bread) but if you're pale to medium in complexion, there's a lot for you to be getting on with.

Nyx has some good creamy eye pencils, Sleek is good too. The brand colours are extremely pigmented.

OldJoseph · 29/07/2017 22:59

bitter would love to have more details about that lip balm, sounds like a HG product for me..lip balm that stains and is cheap.

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 29/07/2017 23:09

Superdrug B range of skincare is excellent. I'm a convert to their eyecream and their dupe of Nip & Fab pads.

NC4now · 29/07/2017 23:38

L'Oréal Youth Code is basically Estée Lauder Daywear (same formula) but half the price.

NC4now · 29/07/2017 23:40

Honestly though, I think make-up is only as good as the person applying it. I can do a decent job with cheap products or a crappy job with fancy names.

OhTheRoses · 29/07/2017 23:46

I just use No 7. Foundation, blushed, under eye concealer, mascara but I do like a nice lippy. M&S perfume is v good. We just use special offer shwr gel and shampoo and conditioner.

I love no 7 three in one wipes. Soap and water in the morning.

bitterbuddhist · 30/07/2017 07:52

Another brand that I just remembered. Don't sleep on W7. Yes, they do knock off brands like chanel (with their mouse bronzer), and benefit, but it's worth a whirl for not much money to find some gems. I know that people use the W7 version of the chanel mousse bronzer as a dupe (it's a lovely colour, but too light for me. I should really give mine away). I also use their makeup removal cloth - just warm water needed - and it's good as the ones that cost twice as much. Some stuff are misses, but again, worth a look.

Timefortea99 · 30/07/2017 08:17

If I am really reining in the spend I just use Nivea Soft - buy a tube for face, and a big tub for the body.

Garner Micellar water is cheap, always on offer, huge bottle. Cotton Wool pads from Wilkos - much cheaper than Boots etc. Loving L'Oreals Fine Flowers cleansing range - huge 400 ml bottles and they are also on offer somewhere. Usually buy huge Decleor ones but Flowers range is a fraction of the cost - I got toner and cleanser for 4 quid each.

Essence in Wilko has some decent neutral lipsticks.

I love Weleda Skin Food for feet - but costs a lot for a small tube - so I use Soap and Glory foot cream which I always get when it is on offer.

Waitrose home brand bath foams and soaps. They have got rid of the Black Pepper one which smelt super spends like a Molton Brown one (grrr) but there are still plenty of others to choose from.

hollyisalovelyname · 30/07/2017 09:50

Boots 17. Cream bronzer is a dupe for Chanel cream bronzer.
W7 also do a dupe for the Chanel cream bronzer.
Both are really good dupes.

bloodypassword · 30/07/2017 10:04

Love this sort of thread. I've recently discovered Superdrug's B range as have many of you but I didn't know they did their own acid pads so I'll look out for those.

Aldi's colour protect shampoo is similar to the L'Oréal one and only 99p. My coloured hair feels fab.

Soap and Glory do a similar cleanser to Liz Earle's cleanse and polish. When it's on offer (which is regularly is) it can be as little as £6 a tube. Brilliant stuff.

I recently got given an Avon mascara and it's really good. Not a tubing one (my preferred choice) but it stays on and no smudging. I'm about to try their new cleansing oil and will report back.

Where can I find Collection 2000, W7 and Elf? Boots? Superdrug? Thanks in advance

Gah81 · 30/07/2017 10:17

For skincare, La Roche Posay is really superb. I had heard so much hype about it but finally succumbed after finishing my Eve Lom etc. and the hype was spot on.

silkpyjamasallday · 30/07/2017 10:57

My best cheap beauty buy is boots charcoal mask with tea tree and witch hazel, leaves my skin looking amazing and a bottle lasts for ages as you only need to do it once or twice a week it's under £5.

Anything in particular?

Timefortea99 · 01/08/2017 06:18

Bumping this. Love to hear of a good dupe.

Thought of another one - used to use Origins Never a Dull Moment face scrub. Tried The Sanctuary's must cheaper version and I much prefer it.

MinesaPinot · 01/08/2017 10:05

Y Y to the Soap and Glory Foot cream

Simple Micellar water

L'Oreal Elvive Colour Protect shampoo and conditioner rather than the ££ Kerastase that I was using - hairdresser commented that my hair is in much better condition now using the Elvive

Similarly L'Oreal Extraordinary Hair Oil instead of the Kerastase one

Sure I'll think of more.

Blackandpurple · 01/08/2017 12:18

Im a huge fan of Cocoa Brown tanning mouse, £8 in Primark. Love the Superdrug MUA face powder and illuminating powder plus other buts. Primark mascara for £1. ELF lippy for £4.50.
