I really loved the Erdem two-piece, think it was fine for the concentration camp visit as it was smart and elegant but I agree about the sandals. Bring back the nude heels (for once only...)!! And tbf, even without the 'appropriateness' factor I thought the sandals were ugly, boring, and didn't compliment the outfit.
Agree about that awful pearl necklace, I'm assuming it's very pricey but it looks exactly like the sort of thing my mum used to get herself in Debenhams for a few pounds thirty years ago to 'jazz up' one of her old evening dresses.
I like the shade of the Catherine Walker coat-dress thing she wore to get off the plane in Germany - the blue was eye-catching and bold - but I do sigh a bit when she comes out in a coat-dress. I get that it might be a practical option (not really sure how, but the horrible things are so beloved of junior royals that there must be SOME purpose to them) but I wish she would either just do a dress OR a statement coat. Coat-dresses look so twee and bring back too many echoes of Diana (who, minus the different hair, Kate does look ASTONISHINGLY like, facially - is this just me???!)
My main amazement is centred around the fact that they manage to get their kids to behave what looks like impeccably when out on a public engagement... My DD is the same age as George and though she is usually OK these days and is complimented frequently on her charm and lovely manners she's only 4 and so she can have 'moments' out of the blue, usually when she's feeling anxious and under pressure, and there is NO amount of bribery or threats that would sort her out.
But that's for another board!!
Generally I think she's got it right on this trip so far, accessories aside.
Still wouldn't be her for all the tea in China, I think the scrutiny must be unbearable (and I'm aware of the irony that I'm commenting on her clothes!) Not so much of her outfits but of her body (which I never comment on) and her parenting etc. She must have a personality of rock/steel to not crack under it all.
