Your best cleansing balms

I've used Clinique and loved it but at £23 it seems a rip off - though did last 6 months.
I currently just use micellar water but don't think it really removes all make up - prefer to use it after another cleanser.
I like the friction of using a wet facecloth as it's a great exfoliator.

Looked in Waitrose today and saw they do their own for around £5 or they had Balance Me at 20% off. £16 for 125 mls.

The thing I like about the Clinique is it melts on your skin whereas Liz Earle rubbish pongs, is thick and a bugger to remove. Hate it.

I love Merumaya melting cleansing balm. Does the job as well as the Emma Hardie one (slightly less firm consistency) and smells fantastic. I think it was £16 on Amazon.

If you like the squeaky clean feeling Lancôme gel eclat is by far the best cleanser I've ever used.

Reasonably expensive but you need a tiny tiny bit and my skin literally squeaks with clean afterwards.

flibbertigibbety · 10/07/2017 19:05

I picked up nspa hot cloth polish for about a fiver in Asda the other week and have been pleasantly surprised. Smooth cocoa butter based balm gets everything off and skin feels super clean after a good flannel wipe.

DumbledoresApprentice · 10/07/2017 19:07

I got given the Elemis one for Christmas. It was amazing but I can't bring myself to spend that kind of money on replacing it.

InigoTaran · 10/07/2017 19:07

Body shop Chamomile cleansing oil is v nice and effective. Is light and good for sensitive skin

Kaybush · 10/07/2017 19:12

Bioderma is the best cleanser I've EVER USED! It's a clear liquid that removes everything and seems really mild. £12.50 for the smaller bottle, although my local chemist has a 2 for 1 offer on currently which might be in other stores too. Boots sell it.

sausagepastapot · 10/07/2017 19:57

Lush ultra bland every time

ohms11 · 11/07/2017 01:00

Elemis pro-collagen cleansing balm. Smells gorgeous, leaves skin soft and a jar seems to last forever.

MaryLennoxsScowl · 11/07/2017 09:38

I've just ordered the Merumaya melting balm, it was expensive though - £17 for 100mls. I used to use Liz Earle but think they changed the formula as it started to sting a bit. I've used Ultrabalm by Lush but it's very heavy and difficult to get off and it smells like wet dog. Clinique TTDO also smells funny and I felt it was really expensive for what it is - then went and bought the pricy merumaya anyway - but if I like the smell at least it will be nicer to use!

Shantasia · 11/07/2017 09:57

Another NSpa fan here. I liked the EH but it's so heavily scented and my skin's sensitive. I'd rather spend the money on moisturiser than something I wash off immediately.

paradoxicalInterruption · 11/07/2017 09:58

I use the Boots one from the no7 range - it's £9.50 and lasts ages - with a facecloth.

LeannePerrins · 11/07/2017 10:03

I've used Clinique and loved it but at £23 it seems a rip off - though did last 6 months

But surely this is your answer. Despite the initial outlay TTDO is pretty good value; it lasts six months and does exactly what you want it to!

I echo the recommendations for Ultrabland but be aware that it doesn't emulsify quite as easily as the TTDO and needs an extra swipe and rinse of the flannel. TTDO is £18.40/100ml, Ultrabland is £12.95/100g if you buy a bigger pot but the smallest size is £7.95 for 45g so not that much cheaper than the Clinique.

Alternatively if you would consider an oil then I really like the Simple hydrating cleansing oil. Cheap as chips and frequently on offer.

LeannePerrins · 11/07/2017 10:05

Also - I don't think anyone has recommended Soap and Glory the Ultimelt yet. I'm a big fan of this one and I like the fact that it comes in a tube. No good if you are sensitive to essential oils, however.

LoniceraJaponica · 11/07/2017 10:07

Another Bodyshop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter fan here. I also like Superdrug's Naturally Radiant hot cloth cleanser.

Bananapud · 11/07/2017 10:09

My favourites are Emma Hardie and omorovicza balm cleansers. which I more or less alternate. I used Eve Lom for years but find it too grainy.
I don't use a balm cleanser every day though - just on the days when I have more make up on or my skin feels very congested. Other days I use La Roche Posay Toleraine cream which is much cheaper. It washes off and feels much gentler on my skin.

CoconutAmericano · 11/07/2017 10:16

Lush ultrabland for me too

Desperad0 · 11/07/2017 10:18

Elemis pro collagen, but I have been recommended the Body shop one and I have a sample yet to try which will be easier on the purse if it's any good

MeltorPeltor · 11/07/2017 10:23

This! It's super, has cleared my skin and takes off waterproof mascara but all without leaving my skin dry.

mowglik · 11/07/2017 11:46

I love Emma Hardie, have a couple of small pots to use up then will buy the biggest pot I can get. Makes my skin soo soft. Prefer to Merumaya, omoriczova (sp) balm cleaners, though merumaya is nice too.

TheBitterBoy · 11/07/2017 11:52

Reporting back on the M&S Pure rose cleansing balm (this one)
It is really lovely. It reminds me of the Emma Hardie in texture, but the fragrance is much more subtle, and it really worked well on my make up and washed off clean leaving my skin feeling soft. Not sure how well it would work on waterproof mascara, but Liz Earle is the only one I've found that gets that off properly.

HoneyDragon · 11/07/2017 11:55

I couldn't justify Emma Hardie because of the cost. I was buying it for the scent.

I now use Almond oil mixed with Jasmine, Orange and Rose essential oil. So pleasure of the scent, anti aging and smells divine at a fraction of the cost Smile

SingaporeSlander · 11/07/2017 12:11

I've had Liz Earle, Soap and Glory, No 7 and Body Shop, all the balm sort. I think Liz Earle might still be my favourite, but it's also the one I used longest ago...

silkpyjamasallday · 11/07/2017 12:57

I have the Eve Lom balm cleanser and I love it, and the ritual of steaming your face with a muslin. It is expensive but it lasts a ridiculously long time, I got 100ml about 6 months ago and I'm not even half way through and I use it everyday

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 11/07/2017 16:36

Eve Lom is divine! The scent is lovely and relaxing too. It is pricey though. I swapped to Clinique and use it the same way you use Eve Lom, it's not quite the same though!

memyselfandaye · 11/07/2017 16:38

Another vote for Elemis pro collagen cleansing balm. It does wonders for my skin.
