What Factor 50 sun cream for kids please?

Have seen recommendations for Calypso once a day can neither get a t locally nor online (Amazon have it but don't deliver it to my location). Trying to avoid P20 as many say it stinks and stains!! Any others please which will give the level of protection it states on the bottle?

We use ultrasun. My pale and pasty family didn't burn at all in Florida, and it doesn't seem to stain clothes either.

John Lewis, m&s, Superdrug all stock it now.

Always Nivea blue one - it's water resistant too.It's the only one they don't get sunburnt with.

I use Sunsense Ultra SPF 50 rollon. My DS is 13 now but I started using this when he was a highly allergic baby.

The roll on is great for portability but they do other sizes and delivery systems. I buy it from amazon as the price is good compared to high street.

We recently used Aldi factor 50 kids during a particularly hot and sunny fortnight in France. I think its called Lacura and is 5 star UVA rated, DS1 (2) and DS2 (1) never got burnt and were swimming daily. We reapplied every few hours but I was impressed!

My dc have no "t-shirt" tan lines whatsoever and we use Aldi factor 30 so presumably the factor 50 is just as effective!

We recently tried the Aldi SPF50 one too and I'm really impressed - had an Ambre Solaire kids one on the go that I realised only had 3* UVA rating and it made my nail polish all tacky which freaked me out a bit!

We use the Superdrug own brand one, factor 50.
It was recommended on here a few years ago, and is the first cream I've used that my DD doesn't complain makes her itchy or that she doesn't like the smell.
Have used it on DS since he was a baby as well with no problems.
No one gets sunburnt and everyone wears it willingly.

My DS is allergic to sun cream and Calypso is the only one he can use. You can get it in Home Bargains, TJ Hughes and Bodycare if you are able to get to any of those shops

Another vote here for Aldi!

The cheapest supermarket ones always come out best in tests.

I bought Ambre Solaire kids factor 50 last week but noticed it only had 3 UVA protection. I went to buy Asda factor 50 yesterday and that has 5 protection and is half the price!

We found Aldi really effective too. Although, we mostly use ultrasun as I cannot stand sticky suncream when I pick the kids up/they climb on me etc and ultrasun is the only one where I can't feel it it on them! Also doesn't stain white school shirts.

Aldi factor 50 aswell as per previous posters. Working a treat on my 1 year old and not expensive either!

We used Aldi in the US recently and it was great, absorbed well too so you don't feel greasy, fine on my 11m old too

Most of the supermarket/chemist own brand ones have 5* UVA rating, can't believe I ever paid more for the supposedly "better" brands!

The staining of whites is really annoying though, ruined a top I wore for the first time at the weekend

We use P20 as all cream based sun lotion tend to cause my children's skin to come out in heat rash, irritation and bright red. So I assume they have an allergy of sorts.

P20 is the only sun lotion I've found they do not have any reaction at all to, but yet it does stain. Not noticed a smell though?

Ultrasun! Fragrance free, non greasy and non staining. Once a day application. Perfect for our eczema ridden family :)

It was what my son's consultant dermatologist reccommended for us when he was a baby too.

If I hadn't just bought 5x 200ml bottles of P20 (good deal for holiday in couple of weeks) i would now be tempted to try ultrasun.

Aldi factor 50 here as well. It has 5* protection and cheap as chips.

We always used 50spf until we went to Egypt and the dr there told us to use 30 or lower as the higher factors actually burn you in particularly hot country's ? Not sure why maybe wax or parabens ? Anyway he was right so I use calypso 30 now

Another vote for Aldi, dc have the kids factor 50 (water resistant for when they go in the paddling pool) and we use the factor 30 version. Both have a 5 star uvb rating.

When buying sun cream I always look at the star rating rather than the brand name. In my experience most own brands are actually better than many of the big brands.

Just back from holiday in France, where we used Boots Soltan kids waterproof factor 50 - and BURNED with it. Seriously unimpressed & will never buy it again.
