Do you recommend them for long or short walks? Comfy? Do tell please

Oh god, they look horrible. I quite like the style in little feet but I wouldn't go there at all if you are not a little girl.

£54? I'm sure you can get more fashionable comfy sandals for less than that.

JanetStWalker · 07/07/2017 01:23

Saltwater depresses me, you might as well just wear a sandwich board saying, 'Given Up'.

Sorry.

SexandDrugsandaNiceCuppa · 07/07/2017 01:31

Eurgh, I can never understand the love for these fugly shoes on here. I saw a woman wearing some today at the station - she was not remotely fat; probably around a size 12, with shapely legs. Those hideous shoes made her look like she had the biggest cankles known to man.
Totally flat sandals look great on little girls, or on very tall, very slim teenage girls. Other than that - not so much.

Theycalledmethewildrose · 07/07/2017 01:32

I think saltwaters look good on tanned, narrow feet that are no bigger than a size 4 UK.

My size 6 white, flat feet look extremely frumpy in them.

I think this nails saltwaters.

They originated in Australia which isn't exactly known for its style.

Nice. Hmm

The UK is hardly a bastion of style itself, compared to France or Italy, but crack on. Grin

Theycalledmethewildrose · 07/07/2017 02:03

Sorry Koala, my post wasn't intended to offend but well it is true.

Spain actually has far nicer clothes than France or Italy imo. Smile

KoalaDownUnder · 07/07/2017 02:14

No worries, you might have a point. Grin

Theycalledmethewildrose · 07/07/2017 02:23

Actually one of the (many) things I love about Australia is the 'screw it, I have heaps better things to do than worry about what I wear' attitude.

MrsJamesKeziahDelaney · 07/07/2017 09:44

Actually you're wrong, Saltwaters didn't originate in Australia at all. They are American. A chap called Walter Hoy started making them during the 1940s, in St Louis, Missouri. So they are definitely American! Hmm

URaflutteringcunt · 07/07/2017 09:51

I'm so glad I came across this thread because I was considering them too. From the sounds of it they sound unsuited to my feet but I will still covet them because I think they look so good.

DavetheCat2001 · 07/07/2017 10:59

I think they look fab, are comfy and would definitely recommend.

So there.

mollymcmuffin · 07/07/2017 11:04

Me too. I walk miles in mine with no probs.

Judydreamsofhorses · 07/07/2017 13:55

I find the stitching on the sole rubs the underside of my little toes, so mine are useless.

ElspethFlashman · 07/07/2017 14:01

I saw a woman in B&Q wearing them the other day. First sighting"in the wild"

She was exactly the sort that should look good in them. Petite, size 8, tanned, quite cool, late thirties.....and she looked about 12 in them, it was so wrong. I was quite shocked at how kiddie they looked in real life. They looked like something a Cabbage Patch Doll would wear.

KoalaDownUnder · 07/07/2017 14:02

They do look a bit 'overgrown toddler'.

ScrambledSmegs · 07/07/2017 14:07

I love mine and they are comfortable but wouldn't say they're great for long walks. I drag my ancient Tevas out of the cupboard for distances (now they're properly frumpy) which would probably make most of S&B despair.

A reasonably stylish (more than me anyway) swears by Hush Puppy sandals, she says they're really supportive and comfortable and look good too. I prefer Birkies but am a closet hippy Grin

ScrambledSmegs · 07/07/2017 14:07

*reasonably stylish friend. Forgot an important word, sorry.

Thatextrainch · 07/07/2017 14:19

I don't drive so walk a lot but I only wear my saltwater for pottering around, so say a walk to supermarket and back (a 2 mile round trip). I actually find my ipanema flip flops more comfortable for long walks over saltwaters (really long walks I wear my fugly proper walking sandals).

I bought my saltwaters in a clearance sale very cheap. I don't think they're worth the full price and don't even think about wearing them in the sea unless you want to be picking sand out of your sandals all blinking afternoon (although hoe the leather survives in the sea is impressive)

Dalesgirl16 · 07/07/2017 20:26

Really funny responses, thanks all! Some good ideas to look up to. I doubt I will get a pair as I've sprained my ankles millions of times and have week ankles now. I will get some Tevas for walks but still look for some thing stylish. I like the look of them!

I love/hate mine. They are definitely on the frumpy side and im not the quirky type that can pull them off. Mine were comfy and then I wore them in the sea and now they are even more comfortable, when im wearing them I keep thinking to myself 'oooh these feel so nice' So im aware my life is over but im still sold on them.

Dalesgirl16 · 07/07/2017 21:27

Life is over SmileSmileSmile. They just look like normal sandals to me. Don't get the frump thing.

They're bloody awesome. I haven't worn them on holidays but I've worn them the whole day for uni/walking around the city and they're very comfortable right out of the box.

onedogatoddlerandababy · 08/07/2017 15:54

I walked six miles in mine over the course of yesterday, absolutely fine. Over the fields and along towpath with dog and three year old...

BeyonceZ · 08/07/2017 19:58

I don't think they're frumpy. Actually they're kinda hipster-y cool. Depends what you wear with them I guess. If you wear frumpy clothes with them then yes they'd probably be frumpy.
