Comfortable shoe recommendations

I want to step up my walking exercise quite considerably but none of my shoes are that comfortable. I am looking for something very comfortable for lots of walking to and from town (with plenty of arch support as I had plantar fasciitis a year ago) neutral colour (to go with everything well I mainly wear trousers and occasionally jeans) probably the heel of a trainer height but not sports brand style. I am 52 so not exactly a trend setter but not quite ready to join the 'bus trip brigade' either. I have had a look in ECCO today but couldn't quite decide. I a a good size 8 and a lot bigger than I should be. Any suggestions Thanks

Either Dr Martens or Crocs.

Everything can fuck off.

Brighteyes27 · 01/07/2017 15:03

Thanks. Not tried Doc Martins but I am not keen on the look for me I am not into black and the brights wouldn't go with everything also I am 6ft tall so would prefer something less masculine (for me), I have some crocs for going to the loo when camping or hanging the washing out but not keen on the look of them either.

DMs come in girly and non-black.

Their Bree shoes are beyond comfy. As are their wedgey boots. Huge range of styles.

As for Crocs, I don't think anyone likes the look of them. They're just insanely comfy.

I picked up a pair of happy feet in tk maxx. They are incredibly comfy. Not high fashion at all but I'm unsteady on my feet and these offer support too. Mine have a slight wedge which is great as Im short.

Comfortable shoes which look good are hard to find. I've had arthritis since I was 20 so have terrible feet. Most of my shoes are either Ecco or Birkenstock, and I can walk for miles in either of those.

Maudlinmaud · 01/07/2017 15:12

Sorry they are not happy feet Blush they are heavenly feet. My feet are very happy in them though. Honest to goodness I would buy another pair exactly the same but as it was a tk maxx find I'm out of luck. Mine are white with a gold front and pink at the heel. They sound rank but I adore them. So so comfy.

Brighteyes27 · 01/07/2017 15:15

I love Birkenstocks for comfort but after quite a long walk the balls of my feet get very dry and sore. Also as we live in the north we have a lot of rain and the footbed bets wrecked. I have one pair of ECCO ones but they are quite low cut and I often go over on my ankle.

I suffer with Plantar Faciatis and the best shoes that I have found are Fit Flop. A huge range of styles - I love their canvas skater shoes.
sale on at the moment so plenty of good deals plus 28 day free returns.

Ecco. Comfiest shoes/boots ever ❤

Brighteyes27 · 01/07/2017 15:59

Smashyourglasses which ECCO shoes do you have and do you wear socks with them, anklet/pop sock type things or bare feet? Thanks

I have the Chase boots in light tan, i wear them with skinny jeans, these are good for hiking or city holidays when you're doing a lot of walking. I also have the slip on Soft 7 boots, these are good for everyday wear, walking to and from work. They look good with boyfriend jeans or skinnies. You can find reduced Ecco sometimes on Zalando.

smashyourglasses · 01/07/2017 16:11

I wear ordinary ankle socks with the Chase and trainer socks with the lower Soft 7. I've never worn them with no socks but i imagine they'd be fine. Soft 7 are even comfier than slippers ❤

smashyourglasses · 01/07/2017 16:13

You can wear thick hiking socks with them as they have removable insoles.

Vionic [[https://www.vionicshoes.co.uk designed for people with shit feet ]

ggirl · 01/07/2017 16:15

sorry here

BerylStreep · 01/07/2017 16:27

I was just about to recommend vionics. Took a bit of getting used to, but very comfy.

Therealslimshady1 · 01/07/2017 16:35

I just bought proper walking boots, they are the best

Bubblysqueak · 01/07/2017 16:37

Crocs don't have to be clogs. They do some really nice trainers, sandals and boots all are really comfy. You'd be surprised what they do if you look on their website.

StillSmallVoice · 01/07/2017 16:38

Some of the Vionics look lovely.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 01/07/2017 16:46

HUGE sale of Fitflops ATM,that's to this thread I've just bought a pair for £23 instead of £79!!!

Synecdoche · 01/07/2017 16:54

I'm a big fan of Hotter shoes - very supportive and COMFORTABLE. I have a good pair of trainer style shoes I use for walking from there. Sure, some of them are ugly as but not all of them!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 01/07/2017 16:57

I like Hotter, personally I'm a big fan of comfy shoes but they aren't wide compared to Clarks which is a shame as some of them are nice.

FatGirlWithChocolate · 01/07/2017 17:00

I have a pair of Fly London boots that I have walked umpteen miles in. Most comfortable things ever.

CremeBrulee · 01/07/2017 17:20

I love my Skechers go walk shoes, they have memory foam inners so it's like walking on a cloud of air. Huge variety of styles and colours, I live in mine when not at work.

I wear a pair of crocs as indoor slippers (hard floors) and between these and the Skechers my crippling plantar fasciitis has all but disappeared.

Brighteyes27 · 01/07/2017 19:41

Synecdoche Which ones do you have please?
