Can you find a tightwad like me a dress for a wedding?

I have a fairly unconventional, outdoorsy wedding coming up.
I have squillions of clothes but fancy something new.
It has to be in a sale because I can't bear to buy anything full price.
I am 50, 5'7" size 10.

I haven't had much luck in S&B before and would love to see what you lot could come up with

Please? Flowers

What kind of style would you like? Are there any definite no-nos eg length, sleeveless, patterns? What's your budget? Do you need shoes, bag etc?

MsUnderstanding · 30/06/2017 20:59

Finery have some fab weddingy offerings in the sale ATM. www.finerylondon.com/uk/t/final-call

I'd find the nearest smart town/posh suburb and do the charity shops/dress agencies. Alternatively I'd go eBaying for stuff that's being auctioned. If there are brands you like, then put them in the search.

AccioMerlot · 30/06/2017 21:38

Definitely worth a poke in local charity shop, nearly bought a lovely Fever dress in one of ours last week for a tenner, except I couldn't quite get the bastard thing zipped up. And I don't even have a wedding to go to.

TheFirstMrsDV · 30/06/2017 21:50

Sorry!!!!
I suddenly had loads of stuff to do.
Thanks for responses.

I was thinking midi or maxi.
Apart from that I don't know.
Weddings always throw me a bit.

Budget.....ummm....deffo less than £40

Do you have a local bannardos near you?
I don't know if there all the same but the 2 near me have always got beutiful dresses in. Evening dress, cocktail dresses even prom styal or bridmaids dresses even wedding dresses. I don't know why bannardos inperticalr seem to get them in.
If ever I've got posh event coming up that's always my 1st point of call. I've got dresses from there for as little as £5.00 sometimes I've had to pay a few quid to get them altered but always worth it

pleasestopsnoring · 30/06/2017 21:57

lots of dresses in the closet sale

SentientCushion · 30/06/2017 21:59

Lindy bop? I got a lovely Jackie o style dress from there and wore it to a wedding and everyone commented on it, you would have never known it was from Lindy bop

The first one is lovely! The second one... not my cup of tea.

Trumpton · 01/07/2017 02:37

I love the flying swallows dress.

OlennasWimple · 01/07/2017 02:55

I normally love a "find me a dress" thread, but that first one (the swallows one) is so good, I thnk you should go for it

TheFirstMrsDV · 01/07/2017 09:21

Do you?

I really like that blue one too.

The swallows is lovely and different tho.

Anyone know what their sizing is like?
