I want to shape them

But I think I need to pluck above

but I have read you should always do underneath

Get a professional to wax them, you'll never regret it, they will look so glam

MrsBadger · 21/03/2007 12:42

no no no

get a professional to thread them
(House of Fraser on Ox St will do it without an appointment)

NuttyMuffins · 21/03/2007 12:44

I pluck above one of mine as it is basically a bit higher and thicker than the other and it stops me looking lopsided.

CheesyFeet · 21/03/2007 12:47

I pluck above mine - didn't realise you weren't supposed to!

bobsyouruncle · 21/03/2007 12:49

What is threading? So sore when someone else plucks them!

MrsBadger · 21/03/2007 12:52

It's like plucking only better - I've never been able to work out quite how it works but they are v skilled and use a twisted cotton thread to catch and pluck the hairs. Much less painful IME.

AnnabelCaramel · 21/03/2007 12:52

Be cautious when doing it yourself for the first time. You don't want to end up like Fiona Bruce - who in fact looks just like this !

RTKangaMummy · 21/03/2007 13:05

Oke doke

I have a deffo brill beautian who comes to my house

And she suggested doing it via waxing

But I was being immpatient and wanted to do it myself before we go on holiday

So why is it you CAN'T pluck above?

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 21/03/2007 13:21

Think it's because the top line of the eyebrow defines the shape of your browbone and if you move it it can make your face look v strange and out of proportion.

deaconblue · 21/03/2007 13:30

I think you'll find if you get it done by someone who knows what they are doing, the arch will look so good you won't worry about the hairs above the eyebrow anyway.

RTKangaMummy · 21/03/2007 17:52

Well it looks like I will have to go on holiday without having it done

Or does anyone know how to follow the line

I have to pluck above, unfortunatly I inherited my dads eyebrows and unplucked, look like Dennis Healy

RTKangaMummy · 21/03/2007 18:05

Does it look ok afterwards?

OP posts:
tiredemma · 21/03/2007 18:06

yes, looks fine- although once you have done it, you have to continue to do it as they grow back MUCH more thicker.

(Used to work in a spa and this is what one of the beauticians told me.)
It's meant to look natural if you only pluck from below. If you do above it's apparently immediately obvious that you've done something so you need someone who's been trained and who is quite experienced at doing it otherwise you risk looking very strange. There's also no saying which plucked hairs'll regrow so if it all ends up a dogs dinner there's no guarantee that it'll sort itself out with time.
I haven't touched "above" as a consequence.

I positively force whoever is waxing them to do above mine as I have some strays.. would look silly is I had lovely neat underneath and mad, randowm hair above.

skirmish · 21/03/2007 19:58

i was always told not to pluck from above, cos, as you get old, your face drops, and if you pluck from the top, your eyebrows will end up sitting on your eyelids

ScottishThistle · 21/03/2007 20:00

I pluck a few strays from above, does no harm!
