I've sweated in black skinny jeans 😣😣 and a navy vest top.

I NEED summer clothes!

A line skirt and a t-shirt. (and Bandalettes - one of the best things mumsnet has given me)

TitaniasCloset · 17/06/2017 20:05

I dont care if short chubby girls are told not to wear maxis, I'm comfortable! And you can't feel pretty or sexy in this weather if your clothes are driving you mad. Better to show a bit of tummy.

LancashireTea · 17/06/2017 20:50

I'm in Jersey tapered trousers with a blue and white pattern which I bought last year in m and s and was in a white t shirt. I've been hot and walking around IKEA all day, plus chasing a toddler.

I have some under dress cotton shorts from Evans for chub run if I dare to wear a dress or skirt without tights.

SensitiveSoinSo · 17/06/2017 20:53

Cotton sundress bought last year from Sainsbos.

WindwardCircle · 17/06/2017 20:58

Sainsbury's stuff can come up really big. I bought a multi coloured maxi skirt from there last week in a 16, didn't try it on in the shop and ended up swapping it for a 14 as the waist was baggy. It's not a one off either, I have jeans from there i need to use a belt to wear.

Andcake · 17/06/2017 21:15

Although a size 12-14 I'm 5'3 and think I was wearing the same striped sainsbos maxi dress 😀
Felt v cool and relaxed

TheSnorkMaidenReturns · 17/06/2017 21:15

A linen tunic and a pair of lightweight leggings. It was very hot so I probably should have worn some linen crop trousers and a thin shirt.

ladystarkers · 17/06/2017 21:17

Maxi dress

d270r0 · 17/06/2017 21:19

A just above the knee loose cotton skirt with bare legs, and a short sleeved loose fitting cotton t-shirt.

Growuphelen · 17/06/2017 21:28

A pair of Next harem pants in blue with a white pattern, with a pale green longish loose sleeveless top I got in a Fatface sale. It would have been my shorts but they're in the wash. My shorts are green M & S 16s that I've had for about 5 years. I'll wear them til they fall to pieces.

LadyOrangutan · 17/06/2017 21:29

I'm 5'3". Size 16

I wore this skirt, which wasn't too short but I think would be if you were much taller. www.tesco.com/direct/ff-panelled-frayed-hem-denim-skirt/679-4570.prd

And this t-shirt. Heavy enough to not feel/look cheap and not show the minute you sweat but light enough to not be too hot. www.joules.com/Women/New-In/Nessa/Jersey-T-Shirt/French-Navy?id=W_NESSA|FRNAVY

DPotter · 17/06/2017 21:30

cotton skort and sleeves blue/white strip linen tunic top.
I love skorts - hide a multitude of sins !

PlaymobilPirate · 17/06/2017 21:35

This is brilliant (particularly the links!)

Assumed joules was for thin people! 😶

A tube skirt and vest top. I am 35 weeks pregnant though, so not bothered about my podgy bits.

NearlyChristmasNow · 17/06/2017 21:38

Also 5' 3" and size 16 - this Boden dress - comfortable and felt quite nice in it

steamboatwilly123 · 17/06/2017 21:39

Navy and white stripe maxi from Sainsbury, which I expect is the one Titania bought. So comfy, but emphasise my bum a bit 😐

khajiit13 · 17/06/2017 21:40

Those of you in Maxi dresses, how do you get the length right? I have one petite Maxi dress I bought years ago but petite choice are usually limited in most places and I'd have thought a normal Maxi dress would be far too long?

I wore a skater dress today but my thighs were not happy , I need to buy little shorts or something [blush.]

LadyOrangutan · 17/06/2017 21:40

So did I Pirate, but they do up to size 20 which is lovely.
It's so hard to find things that are comfy, flattering and suitable for hot weather when you're short!

WanderingTrolley1 · 17/06/2017 21:41

Not sure what defines short, but I'm 5'5 and wore 3/4 jeans with cotton vest and linen shirt.

Want to wear dresses, but get chub-rub!

alabasterangel · 17/06/2017 21:42

I'm the same size and a G cup boobage.

I wore cropped blue fat face trousers and a white and blue loose (like A line) jersey vest top from falmer at matalan.

I had a shower about 6ish and knowing I wouldn't be out in the sun again I put on a plain black jersey maxi dress with a kind of empire line from TU. dead cheap and cool. I think about £14. I've got a couple.

Tomorrow we are out in the sun again and because I've got slightly pink shoulders I'll need to cover up but be cool. Beige linen trousers with a loose white jersey vest top and a very thin white linen shirt over, sleeves rolled up.

alltouchedout · 17/06/2017 21:42

Cropped leggings and a long ish loose top. I don't suppose I looked great but I have been comfortable all day :)

user1495915742 · 17/06/2017 21:44

I'm a 10 to 12 but find cotton skirts cool and comfortable in this weather. I have loads in different lengths from below the knee to ankle.

Loose cotton clothing is best I think. Avoid shorts and strappy tops if you are a bit lumpy. I have terrible legs so avoid shorts and short skirts. Less is more I always think.

hazeyjane · 17/06/2017 21:46

For anyone not enjoying thigh rub bandalettes much cooler than shorts under a dress or skirt.

Ollivander84 · 17/06/2017 21:52

I'm 5ft 10 but I was wearing this dress from biu biu (polish version of pepperberry, but cheaper) with flat nude Clarks sandals

If you're a short size 16 what did you wear today?
FlyingSoloFlyingFree · 17/06/2017 22:00

I've had on knee length denim shorts (Next last year), a longline black vest (Matalan), grey linen cardi (H&M) and grey Havaianas. Can't say I felt at my most stylish but I was comfyish.

I find hot weather dressing really hard - petite ranges are so limited, nothing works with a bra and I'm torn between the desire to cover my horrible legs and the need to be cool.
