I'm so jealous of naturally slender people in this weather.

You can only really look stylish in the heat if you're naturally very slim, I reckon. There are several mums at my DD's school who have that tiny-framed, small-breasted, gamine look going on, and they look wonderful, drifting about in loose-fitting, floaty clothes that makes anyonre bigger than a size 10 and a B cup look like a ship in a ship in full sail.

It's definitely a shape thing, not just a weight thing. Even at my thinnest, when I was a size 10, I could never have pulled off that look, I was still too curvy.

So jealous. I want to drift too!

Well, yeah. Not much does, thought fix.

I'm not sure if anyone is truly comfortable in this heat - I'm a size 8 and dislike this weather intensely. I get a really sweaty face which is so embarrassing - for work I wear a gel facial antiperspirant, it works but it's very drying and feels like I'm wearing a mask.

Oh and I'm ginger so sunlight is not my friend Sad

muckypup73 · 26/05/2017 11:47

Venella pass me it quick please lol.

silkpyjamasallday · 26/05/2017 12:53

Ugh I'm a 6-8 but I am really struggling with what to wear in this heat, I was pregnant last summer so rather lost my mojo and I am still bf dd so most of my old summer clothes don't work as they are strappy/backless and I have to wear an ugly nursing bra. And all my previously floaty tops just hang off my boobs now and I look like a tent. Opening my wardrobe and seeing all my lovely sundresses that now either don't fit over my boobs or look awful with a bra was depressing this morning!

I don't think it's about size necessarily, but dressing for your shape, and I haven't worked out how to dress taking my big boobs into account. I know I have a trinny and Susanna book somewhere with tips for dressing to suit all shapes and sizes, I may have to dig it out!

Seachangeshell · 26/05/2017 12:58

I'm 5 foot 4, a size 12 and averagely curvy. According to you, I must look awful.
I'm wearing shorts and a vest top and I look fucking brilliant.
Wear what you want, love yourself as you are and ignore all the magazines and people telling you you should look a certain way.
Men do not have to put up with this shit!

Stansmith01 · 26/05/2017 13:06

I agree with what others have said - most struggle to look put together/feel confident in this weather!! Everyone has their own insecurities
I'm slim and tallish but I hate showing any skin because 1) eczema 2) scarring/skin discolouration 3) strawberry legs

TisapityshesaGeordie · 26/05/2017 13:18

Oh give it a rest, Seachange, I'm not attacking you.

Try being a size 24. I never drift anywhere. Ever. I stomp - and in this weather i trudge miserably from point a) to point b) with all the elegance and floatiness of a very overheated hippopotamus. That, dear reader, is not a good look.

OCSockOrphanage · 26/05/2017 13:25

I'm old and past caring! I love this weather, and I think I look okay/comfortable in today's thin red knitted linen t shirt and a pair of mid thigh length shorts as long as I (and all of you too, please) overlook the thread veins around one knee . I would put a skirt/trousers on for any activity more public or urban than cleaning, gardening and dog walking though. 5'4", 60kg, 34F norks.

AllFurCoatNoKnockers · 26/05/2017 13:30

Had this exact same thought this morning walking to work.

Loads of really slim women with their not a care in the world tailored shorts and tucked in linen shirts. Loads of beautiful dresses with arms out.

I'm 5'8" and a size 16 with a mum tum. I'd love to be in some paper bag waist trousers with a nice vest top but I wouldn't be comfortable.

I still like to think of myself as fairly stylish so today am wearing a geometric print linen shift dress and some jewelled leather sandals (large straps, not t bar).

My aim by next year is to be able to keep up with my weight training so that I have gamine arms and thighs that don't touch so I can wear whatever takes my fancy instead of deciding which flabby body part to hide from one day to the next!

Rockaby · 26/05/2017 13:32

I would love to be gamine Envy!

You've got to work with what you've be got though. I think I look passable in floaty numbers, as it goes. I am on the slightly tall side though; 5'8" and a size 14. I think my large norks actually help as it means maxi dresses for well on the top and float round the bottom.

Still... to be gamine .

Rockaby · 26/05/2017 13:32

*Fit well

Seachangeshell · 26/05/2017 13:44

I don't think you're attacking me! I am just dick of hearing women attacking themselves, beating themselves up about the way they look.

nina2b · 26/05/2017 13:46

Don't gamine women generally have short hair a la pixie cut, though. Read something somewhere today about men not liking short hair!

Sorry - it's from The Daily Mail.

gincamelbak · 26/05/2017 13:55

Phew. I'm glad I don't have to live my life trying to make sure I'm appealing to the mens all the time.

I am 5ft7 size 12/14 with a generous bazooom cleavage and find that I can't do the floaty look. So I wear vests and t shirts and knee length Jersey skirts or shorts. I would love to float about in summery drapey kimono tops and strappy camisoles and so on but it makes me look like someone dressed their granny in New Look for a laugh. Fecking bosom.

Anyway. I have to slap on the factor 50 normally so anything floaty would just stick to me so I've decided it's pointless trying that style.

Rockaby · 26/05/2017 14:16

That daily fail article spells bad news for Audrey Hepburn.

I'm so jealous of naturally slender people in this weather.
nina2b · 26/05/2017 14:19

Yep.

MrsTwiddles · 26/05/2017 14:20

God I love this weather! SmileMaybe it helps living in Cornwall, not AS hot here as else where with a lovely sea breeze. Off to meet friends at the beach for a play and BBQ toddler tea. I know no one there will be complaining about the weather, we all love it! City living + carrying extra weight is a sun worshippers worst recipe. And no we're not all size 8s

TisapityshesaGeordie · 26/05/2017 14:28

I love the weather, I just wish my body was better equipped for it! And it's nowt to do with being attractive to men, plenty of men find my sort of look very attractive; in fact half the issues I have with my body type in the heat involve dressing it in a way that keeps me cool but isn't overtly sexy.

SouthChinaMorningPost · 26/05/2017 14:31

Dont worry guys, youre not as bad as me....im covered in psoriasis and am looking forward to yet another summer in long sleeves and trousers - and even my bloody feet have to be covered up.

I would far rather be generously proportioned and have skin that looks normal!

angryladyboobs · 26/05/2017 14:42

Op you made me laugh and some of these replies are funny too.

I've just dropped my mum at work but i went out in shorts a tiny top. I'm far too overweight and short to do it stylishly but I don't give a shit today. Too hot!!!

AllFurCoatNoKnockers · 26/05/2017 14:46

Feel your pain South China! This is my first summer in 20 years that I haven't been covered in psoriasis. New dermatologist and new treatment means this is a summer I haven't spent covered up totally.

MorningGlory17 · 26/05/2017 14:50

@AllFurCoatNoKnockers Hey may I ask the treatment for your condition? My neighbour has it and we were talking this morning, she says this weather makes her more miserable!!
