If you find something you like do you honestly buy 2 or 3 of them/it?

Found some boots I just loved and a pair of skinny jeans. I'm half wondering whether to buy another pair as I don't know if I'll find something similar again. Fits perfectly, very flattering but I'm half thinking it's ridiculous as there will be other clothes/shoes.

I have a vast wardrobe but only wear about 15% of it as I know what suits me and works with my shape. I do get carried away hence the wardrobe collection but if I'm honest I'm more the boots, skinny jeans and blazer type. In all seasons, all weathers.

All the time! Dresses, tops, bras and shoes mainly

Cakescakescakes · 14/05/2017 18:55

Ooooh especially bras!!!!!

sammylady37 · 14/05/2017 20:18

I do with shoes/boots and jeans, as I find it hard get flattering jeans and very hard get comfortable and fashionable shoes/boots.

CountFosco · 14/05/2017 21:48

I have done in the past but am trying to move away from that. I do have 2 pairs of Gap bi-stetch skinny ankle skimmers in different colours though. And I buy a Boden cashmere cropped cardigan regularly (I have a red, blue and green version at the moment). And bras absolutely it makes sense to buy multiple copies. Just bought one and realised I already had that exact design in a different colour from a few years ago!

Shoes I'd never do it but I have a bad enough shoe habit as it is. I suspect it depends how easily you find clothes to fit (I have small feet so buying shoes is a joy).

CoolCarrie · 14/05/2017 23:52

Definitely especially bras, jeans and shoes in different colours.

ScarlettFreestone · 15/05/2017 00:06

I've slimmed down my wardrobe over the last few years and gone for a quality not quantity/buy less wear more approach but yes I do still buy multiples of really useful items.

So for example I have the same ballet flats in about 6 colours and I just recently found a brilliant day dress in both black and white.

Liiinoo · 15/05/2017 00:20

I certainly do. I have the same pair of Uniqlo cropped jeans in four colours and several pairs of each colour. I also have the same cut in a full length jean in the same colours for winter/ wearing with heels.

My go-to shoes are Skechers and Uggs and I have the same style in various colours. I have several tops that I have bought different colours of, wearing the lighter shades in summer and the more vibrant ones in winter. I also have a beautiful heavy jersey fit and flare dress in three colours. I wear the navy one for funerals and the other two lighter ones for happier formal events.
This has all come about gradually as I evolved a style I like and eventually reached the point where I no longer want to wear something I don't think suits me just to ring the changes. I want to look my favourite things and look as nice as I can all the time

AteRiri · 15/05/2017 04:29

Yup.

duxb · 15/05/2017 04:43

Yes.
Especially jeans. Finding a "perfect" pair of jeans is the holy grail. If you can afford it, do it.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 15/05/2017 04:58

Yes definitely. Boots because I have wide feet and a high arch so to find some that fit is rare so I buy 2 pairs.

Jeans if they're perfect I'll buy a few and dye a couple black.

Breton tops, will buy a couple, one for around the house/school run as I know it'll get trashed by daughter/puppy etc and one for when I want to look vaguely decent.

fernanie · 15/05/2017 05:27

DH always does this, especially with shoes. Means he only has to go shoe shopping -
his least favourite activity - about every 5 years.
I've only done it a few times, mostly with colours but sometimes with sizes. I have one dress I wear to almost every wedding in an 8 and a 10. It's the most flattering dress I've ever worn and now I wish I'd bought it in a 12 too!
Never thought of it with bras but it's such a bitch finding one that fits really well; thanks for the tip, MNers!

OCSockOrphanage · 15/05/2017 09:27

I may Blush have bought my favourite T-shirt (now disappeared) in nine colours, plus three each in light grey, white and black. And I have been repeat-buying the same bra in the same size every 18 months for a decade. God know what I shall do if they ever stop making it!

PNGirl · 15/05/2017 11:28

Not usually the same item exactly, with the exception of a black roll-sleeve boyfriend T shirt from ASOS that I own two of. I tend to buy the same thing in a different colour, so for example I bought some black Docs and wore them so much that 2 months later I bought the same ones in burgundy. Bought Topshop Jamies in black and then in denim. I bought the same GAP cardigan, one in black and one grey with white stars.

PrancerForHoney · 15/05/2017 11:31

Absolutely.
I have three pairs of the same red boots. I walk hard and on the sides of my feet so wear footwear out quickly.

RoastedPotato · 15/05/2017 11:34

For "basics", I usually buy 2 or 3 of the same item in my "base colour", and then perhaps 1 or 2 of that item in other available colours.

MariposaNieve · 15/05/2017 11:44

Never.

DissonantInterval · 15/05/2017 12:00

I do but I nearly always end up with a favourite (colour, fit slightly better) and the 'spare' then doesn't get as much wear as I'd intended. But I'm probably just weird :)

Goldfishjane · 15/05/2017 12:06

I always buy an extra if it's going to get a lot of wear
but I'm frugal so my wardrobe doesn't have spare in it and if I've bothered to source it, it's also a bargain - therefore 2 is a no brainer.

trixymalixy · 15/05/2017 12:14

Yes. I have the same Whistles dress in Black, Navy, Green, grey and print.

All bought on ebay.

I do find though that sometimes there are variations in size. I did have two of the same white top, the sizing was slightly different between them.

I thought I'd found the perfect jeans for me, Topshop Jamies. However the length seems to vary and the stretch of the material.

So although I have 3 pairs only the original pair fit me very well, one is longer in the leg than the other two despite supposedly being the same size and one is much less stretchy.

Unicorn81 · 15/05/2017 15:24

I do with jeans and wish i had bought a second pair of a pair of boots, wear them all the time but they are a bit done now 😭

MissShittyBennet · 16/05/2017 09:32

I quite often do, in different colours usually. Never with footwear though.

MsGameandWatch · 16/05/2017 09:35

I do yes. Too many times I have found the perfect pair of trousers or sandals then worn them to shreds and lamented that I didn't buy them x 2 or even 3. I did it with sandals last year and four pairs of gap khakis in a certain cut that aren't out every season.

thenightsky · 16/05/2017 09:58

I do, but only after I've worn the original item a few times to make sure I really love it.

Oblomov17 · 16/05/2017 10:45

Almost always. At least I do buy one second pair. I seem to be very hard on both my clothes, shoes and boots and they all get scuffed and tatty within a short period of time. Clothes look tatty and tired within 6-9 months I find.
So I'm very glad to have a replacement.

minipie · 16/05/2017 11:03

I've done it a few times and am doing it more and more.

Bras - I have 4 the same as I've never found another even close to the fit.

Jumpers and T shirts, if I find a cut I like I will buy several colours. With t shirts I might even get 2 the same colour if it's a great colour as they don't last brilliantly.

Trousers - not so far, but if I ever find the perfect pair of jeans I will buy about 7 pairs.

Also I'm between and 8 and a 10 so sometimes I consider buying both sizes for "fat days" and "thin days". Never actually done that though.

I have a favourite pair of boots which I wish, wish, wish I had bought another of.

Liinoo where is your heavy jersey fit and flare dress from please? I'm looking for one at the moment.
