Help me with La Roche Possay

So, I get married next month and I need to find a solution to my problem.

I have dehydrated skin on my cheeks, they are rough, show my fine lines and have little bumps all over. However my t-zone is quite oily. Long story short, my makeup looks shit and starts wearing off after a few hours due to oil, or starts to settle in to my lines and pores.

I've been thinking about using effaclar k on my t-zone only, and then something from their hydration range for the rest of my face. Does anyone do something similar ? Can you recommend me anything ?

I would look at The Ordinary. If you email Victoria Health with your specific skin issues they will recommend a regimen for you.

MrsMarigold · 02/05/2017 23:05

If I were you I would go to the GP and explain, it's your wedding, mine was ruined by a spot seriously get medial help.

Effaclar can be quite drying, I recently switched from LRP to Bioderma for my t zone. I am a total convert to their sebium hydra. For dry/dehydrated skin, try LRP Toleraine Riche. Bioderma have a v similar one, can't remember the name now, but I'll check in the morning.

I ruined my skin using retinols and acids a la Caroline Hirons, et al. A strict regime of lrp and Bioderma saved it, my skin is glowing now.

MissMarigold
Now I know why I can't always get an appointment at my GPs.
Seriously? I'm surprised you didn't go to Casualty Confused

MrsMarigold · 03/05/2017 10:33

IDoNotHaveTheFoggiest Dermatological issues really can have a huge impact on mental health, I've had bad acne in the past and I get really angry when people don't take it seriously.

Also I'm not the the sort of person who sees the GP often and neither is DH nor DC, so I think I'm as entitled to this treatment as much as anyone else, my skin is a big deal to me. What pisses me off is seeing people who take their DC at the slightest hint of a cold or minor ailment, they are the ones causing the problems with bookings in GPs surgeries not me.

Please tell me you are joking.

Amiawful23 · 03/05/2017 10:39

I say that as someone with rosacea btw.

MrsMarigold · 03/05/2017 10:51

FFS I was probably the least bridezilla like woman ever, but good skin on a big day is worth it. However it's awful to not have a single photo where you look ok - the spot was huge and on the bridge of my nose it made me look peculiar and if I had thought of it sooner a few weeks of tetracycline (which is dead cheap for the NHS) and I would've been much happier.

MoreProseccoNow · 03/05/2017 11:06

I have the same skin as you! I use Effaclar cleanser (the rinse-off one).

I would also highly recommend Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Perfector/Minimiser, it really evens out my oily zone & stood the shiny look.

EatsLeavesAndShit · 03/05/2017 11:11

Try going to a well respected clinic for a facial and see what products they recommend. With only a month to go you don't really have time to test lots of different products at home to see what works for you. Since it's your wedding you are entitled to throw money at the problem. Good luck Flowers

WhereAreWeNow · 03/05/2017 11:14

I would use Effaclar Duo all over then add a bit of Effaclar H moisturiser to any drier areas.

I do love Effaclar but I've recently been converted to Clarins Lotus face oil as a night treatment. I really like the smell and it seems to do a good job.

IDoNotHaveTheFoggiest · 03/05/2017 11:32

MissMarple
You stated you're wedding was ruined by 'a spot' which is quite different to acne.
The OP hasn't suggested that they have acne but dehydration with a rough texture and an oily tzone

MitzyLeFrouf · 03/05/2017 11:45

From her description it doesn't sound as though the OP has acne.

The ambulance and crash team can stand down.

I just assumed mrsmarigold was being sarcastic Grin

No I don't have acne, so I shan't be bothering my gp. My skin is just a bit grim and I don't know how to fix it.

eatsleaves I hadn't thought about a facial! I've just rang and booked an appointment on Saturday for a 'prescriptive facial' where they will assess my skins needs and give me a facial as follows. Will ask them for advice on products to use after.

Thanks for all the product recommendations, I'll see how I get on at the weekend and go from there.

How long do you have until your wedding?
I only ask as facials are recommended to start at least 6 months otherwise if the bring all the crap up to the surface you will break out.
I would definitely recommend a hydrating serum all over such Good ones are Hylamide, Sarah Chapman, Clarins, The Ordinary or Caudalie.
Use in morning under moisturiser.
I would actually recommend a facial oil all over too even where you are oily.
A good one is Decleor Aromessence Neroli or the Balm version at night. You need the smallest amount and it's all you need.
I would also include some exfoliating toner.
The Pixi Glow Tonic is a good start and gentle or the Alpha H Liquid Gold which is stronger so used a few evenings a week.

fuzzyllama · 03/05/2017 16:58

I've got 5 weeks till the wedding Blush I'm doomed aren't I?! My makeup trial was shit, my hair trial was shit, and now I risk having shitter skin. (I'm aware I sound dramatic but I'm getting a bit stressed Sad)

I had a little sample of the clarins hyrdaquench serum and gel moisturiser. I found it worked well on my cheeks but made my t-zone even oiler. I usually exfoliate a couple of times a week using Lush coffee scrub. I do have a Clinique liquid exfoliator, but it's been sat in my drawers for probably 7 years so probably best not to try that put Grin

I find skin care a total mine field.

IDoNotHaveTheFoggiest · 03/05/2017 17:22

Definitely get a hydrating serum.
Also I would recommend a good primer that will smooth and keep oiliness at bay.
Are you in London?
Ones I could recommend are ones from MakeUp Forever (Debenhams) or Dermalogica.
Depending on your budget you could get two one like the benefit porefessional or Becca evermat primer for the forehead

IDoNotHaveTheFoggiest · 03/05/2017 17:23

Oops too soon and a hydrating one for cheeks - smashbox or a makeup forever one.

IDoNotHaveTheFoggiest · 03/05/2017 17:27

I'd also get the Glow tonic you can get from M&s and apply every night after cleansing.
Can I ask what do you cleanse with

fuzzyllama · 03/05/2017 17:45

I'm not in London no, I'm in Suffolk. I currently use a NYX primer, and that is going in the in as it exaggerates my pores and lines. Is the glow tonic m and s own brand ?!

Currently if wearing a full face I will use Lancôme bi facil on eyes, coconut oil everywhere else, wash that off, then use a foaming cleanser to complete double cleanse.

OP posts:
fuzzyllama · 03/05/2017 17:57

Just seen that it's the Pixi glow tonic, didn't even realise that m&s stocked pixi, thought it was only on cult beauty!

Qtipsrsweet · 03/05/2017 18:13

Put bio oil on your skin before bed after cleansing. It will re hydrate the dry areas and stabilize the oily ones. Your skin will look beautiful in the mornings.
It's no good as a daytime moisturizer, however, as a primer before make up, smashbox photo finish primer is absolutely amazing.
X

IDoNotHaveTheFoggiest · 03/05/2017 20:23

Just be careful of coconut oil as for some it exacerbates spots and cause breakouts.
Is the rough texture tiny hard spots?
