Help me with La Roche Possay

So, I get married next month and I need to find a solution to my problem.

I have dehydrated skin on my cheeks, they are rough, show my fine lines and have little bumps all over. However my t-zone is quite oily. Long story short, my makeup looks shit and starts wearing off after a few hours due to oil, or starts to settle in to my lines and pores.

I've been thinking about using effaclar k on my t-zone only, and then something from their hydration range for the rest of my face. Does anyone do something similar ? Can you recommend me anything ?

I don't think they are spots no, they aren't that visible and I don't think there would be anything to squeeze, like a white head for example. I have wondered if it's linked to Keratosis pilaris, as I have that on my legs and arms.

Don't panic! It's not too late to sort your skin out before your wedding.

Your facialist (is that even a word?) Will assess your skin this weekend and recommend products and treatments for your specific issues. Salons usually have the recommended products there that you can buy (for dermalogica there are usually little sample sets, which should last you through to your wedding). Please don't throw everything but the kitchen sink at your face, it's sensitive and you don't want to piss it off at this vital time.

Maybe the salon will recommend microdermabrasion, that might help with the little bumps and dullness. Do you eat a healthy diet with lots of good fats (salmon, avocado)? If not, try to eat salmon and avocado at least 3 times a week, drink lots of water and cut sugar right down.

For hiding pores Benefit Porefessional is like polyfilla for your skin.

Good luck! Flowers

I would highly recommend the effaclar duo to put on your face at night, after cleansing. I get the little bumps under my skin and this really does help smooth my skin out. However I find this makes my face quite shiny if i use it during the day so I would warn against that. I'm currently using a Clinique moisturiser during the day under my make up (I use the green one for redness) which surprisingly makes my face less oily throughout the day than when I use no moisturiser! If you go to a Clinique counter and explain your problem they usually will give out one or two test pots for you to try before you buy. If you do decide to get something stronger you can always try getting a prescription from an online pharmacy which is sometimes easier than bothering your GP although you do pay more.

Sometimes if you are using a product that's too heavy or clogging it can cause something called milia.
Check it out and see if that resembles what you have.

I would introduce 2-3 skincare items no more to prevent any breakouts and deal with the oiliness using a primer, a good foundation - Armani ones are very Good Luminous Silk or the new Power Fabric and set with powder and a setting spray. On day I would highly recommend keeping some blotting papers in your purse.

Hope it goes well.

I would go back to basics and use as little as possible on your skin. Use effaclar on your t-zone at night, and Oilatum Natural Face Repair cream on your cheeks (this is fab, and my daughter uses this when she gets a dry sandpapery rash on her face, she's 12). Give it a couple of weeks to settle, let it calm itself instead of using lots of products. Use Avene Extremely Gentle Cleanser morning and night and don't moisturise the t-zone.
I hope you have a wonderful wedding day!

Your skin sounds similar to mine and I completely turned my skin around in about a month by changing my dire skincare routine.

I now wash in the morning with Cetaphil (I have the oily skin one) using a clean muslin cloth. Followed up with Olay Beauty Fluid for oily skin.

Then PM remove make up with Superdrugs Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser, then a second cleanse with Cetaphil again. Nip+Fab pads then Olay again.

I find the clear Smashbox primer really helps keep my make up lasting all day.

Your skin sounds dehydrated. Dehydration can cause excess production of sebum and make your skin oily. I would suggest that you stop using coconut oil and treat your skin gently like silk. Maybe leave the Effaclar after the wedding as it is quite harsh. Also, up your water intake.

These are gentle and effective cleansers for cleansing your skin both in the morning and evening. If you use a cloth to cleanse, use a clean cloth every day and only use tepid water not hot.

Hydrating serum first:

Followed by this moisturiser. It has a light gel like texture.

Deep cleanse mask 1-2 times a week with clay mask to get rid of the oiliness. This one is fairly gentle and not too drying.

Followed by hydrating mask. If you have the time, you could put this one on daily a week before your wedding. Maybe in the morning while you brush your teeth and have a shower or in the evening while you have a bath.

This sheet mask is fantastic! I always have these in my kit and use them to plump and brighten up my skin when going out or if I feel it needs extra boost.

I linked to Escentual but you could probably get them from other website. Look Fantastic website probably stocks most of these and they always seem to run discounts so have a look there too.

Your skin sounds exactly like mine so I'm going to try some of these tips. I would second the smash box primer, I've used it for ages but recently switched to porefessional for a change but it's nowhere near as mattifying.
Are you having your make up done professionally? Even with my ridiculously oily nose my wedding make up stayed put completely all day, even survived the dancing!
On another note, I'm a GP and would absolutely not give antibiotics for a few weeks just in case someone without any current acne gets a spot on their wedding day Hmm it would go against all antibiotic stewardship responsabilities and tetracycline isn't exactly friendly to the digestive system - nobody wants a diarrhoea splattered wedding dress Grin

Don't go for a facial or buy the lotions/potions they recommend in there! Can you afford to see a private dermatologist? I can recommend one in London if you PM me

NotReallySureWhatImDoing · 04/05/2017 22:36

OP said she's in Suffolk but I agree they will just make you buy lots of products especially if you go in there and tell them you don't really have a clue
