Whiffs pits - what comes after mitchum?

I've always had strong bo. Mitchum roll on used to be great but in the last few years not as effective anymore. I used it daily (not as advertised with skipping a day). But it worked. Now..not so much
I'm getting stinkier. Can you recommend products? Is there anything else I can do?

I use Mitchum stick and find it very good, but a few months ago started noticing I smelled really bad despite using it. I have changed my diet (slimming world but sticking to fresh food and no sweeteners.in. My old diet was lots of processed rubbish and loads of chocolate) and I smell loads better. I'm still having plenty of garlic and onion so it's not that that's making the difference. I haven't lost much weight yet so it's not weight related and the change happened within a couple of days of my diet changing.

You bought STRONG!! Good luck. I had to get up at 1am and wash it off and apply Germolene to numb the pain. On the upside though, I don't think I was sweaty for about a week. I had to throw it away though in the end, the itching and pain was unbearable.
I can only manage the normal or Comfort.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 22/04/2017 21:00

I've been using men's Mitchum, I find it is better than the women's.

Strigoi · 22/04/2017 21:04

Perspirex. Don't be tempted to apply every day otherwise you will have sore pits. Every 2-3 days is good.

Strigoi · 22/04/2017 21:07

Sorry, just read back and realised you already bought it!

It is brilliant. I always used to get sweat patches, my clothes were ruined and I was really self-conscious about smell. So pleased I discovered it.

cupcake007 · 22/04/2017 21:21

I've tried loads of hardcore deodorants over the years and I've recently had great results with Mum fragrance free roll on. For me, it's the smell of the sweat mixed with the scent of the deodorant that I hate. I still sweat a bit but it doesn't smell. I sometimes use a body spray alongside.

voxnihili · 23/04/2017 07:05

I'm another Driclor user - it is amazing. I think it has cured me but I still apply it maybe once a month just in case. I make sure I don't shave for 24 hours beforehand otherwise the stinging is unbearable. I am convinced I sweat more in my feet now though - I guess it has to come out somewhere!

I imagine products like this would work for a smell issue as well because if you prevent the sweating, there wouldn't be a smell.

Oldraver · 23/04/2017 11:14

Are the every other day ones very stingy then ?

I have massively sensitive pits..I even had a massive reaction to both Lush deo and Pitrock Aloe vera..had a very embarassing summer where I could use hardly anything.

Mitchum stick is ok at the moment but found last summer it wasn't enough

FreeNiki · 23/04/2017 11:18

Driclor is great and it comes with several warnings.

You aren't meant to use it every night. Wear am old tshirt to bed or it will stain clothes.

SunshineAllTheWhile · 23/04/2017 11:32

A vote here for Odaban! My husband has bad hyperhidrosis and uses Odaban a couple of times a week, no more. I've never EVER smelt a single whiff of anything on him & I do find myself giving his pits a spot check every now & then as I find it fascinating they always smell so fresh & clean! Blush

SandysMam · 23/04/2017 11:37

I find using a sensitive/moisturising antibacterial hand wash such as carex to wash pits and bum in the shower (just keep away from the front to avoid irritation) really helps eliminate a lot of the whiff causing bacteria. Also hot wash your clothes or use dettol antibacterial laundry detergent, again, eliminates the bacteria that mixes with the sweat and causes the smell.

notapizzaeater · 23/04/2017 11:46

This off amazon - wonderful stuff, pop a tiny amount on once a week - use normal deodorant with it - stops the whiff for 7 days, lasts through showers, swimming etc etc

Whiffs pits - what comes after mitchum?
notapizzaeater · 23/04/2017 11:47

And it's gentle - I use it in my teenager :-)

stargirl1701 · 23/04/2017 11:50

Let the hair grow back, if you remove it. Switch to a deodorant rather than AP. Worth a shot? It does take a few months to adjust though.

lasttimeround · 23/04/2017 12:41

No major reaction to perspirex strong. I clearly have tough pits. I do feel this will work tho as it seems to be drying out the smell really inside the sweat ducts. I was thinking about how the smell is really caused by bacteria and how recently even after washing my pits still seemed not entirely smell-free. Ivery been washing repeatedly trying to get again it and it's not worked. Anyway I think this plus drying pits thoroughly at night. And maybe some anti bacterial wash sounds like a solid plan.
I don't think just deo and regrown hair will be doable. I occasionally have a day or a night without and I am just quite smelly. I quite like the funk of it if it's just me at home. But I can't go out into the world like that- people would stage an intervention!

lasttimeround · 23/04/2017 12:44

I also hate sweat plus deo smell.

nothruroad · 23/04/2017 13:02

I think it really helps to use soap on armpits rather than shower gel to completely clear the smell. I occasionally use antibacterial hand gel in shower if it's very stubborn but don't do this after shaving because it really stings.

36plusandtrying · 23/04/2017 13:09

Use hand sanitiser or anti bac gel after showering - kills the germs that causes the smell ! Good luck

ohshitwhathaveidonetoday · 23/04/2017 18:15

Any tips on how to cope with sweat patches over the body? I don't particularly smell but am going through the change and will sweat in a t shirt when everyone else is in jumpers! I'm so conscious of wet patches just about everywhere 😡

myheadsamess · 23/04/2017 20:00

Before I press buy on amazon, if I'm using perspirex can I shower in the morning if I've put it on the night before?

chocolatespiders · 23/04/2017 20:06

Recently moved onto dove maximum protection after Mitcham no longer cut it.

TakeASipOfDancingJuice · 23/04/2017 20:15

Yes you wash it off in the morning and then you can apply normal anti-perspirant if you want to.
ohshit The strong ones (like Perspirex, Driclor) will stop you sweating.

StylishDuck · 23/04/2017 20:22

I've used SweatGuard before. You need to order it online. I found it better than Mitchum.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 23/04/2017 20:26

Driclor works. I used that and then back to Mitchum. However, I realised that my sweating was due to stress. I changed jobs and stopped sweating! It wasn't smelly sweat though, just uncomfortable damp armpits all day.

myheadsamess · 23/04/2017 20:27

Thanks takeasip!
