not sure this qualifies for Style and Beauty, but I am in need of a dressing gown, and have certain requirements...

I don't want a slinky sexy thing that might qualify as "lingerie", but neither should it make me look like Mrs Brown - does a dressing gown middle-ground exist?

It should not be pale, as it was evil morning coffee stains that did for the last dressing gown. And I am tall, so it needs to be a decent length to avoid inadvertent exposure when bending.

Has anyone seen anything nice?

I saw this on QVC the other day when I was working bored looking. www.qvcuk.com/Carole-Hochman-Daisy-Print-Tie-Robe.product.162781.html?cm_sp=VIEWPOSITION----162781 Might be a bit short for you, but is that the kind of thing? I'm liking the blue one...

onalongsabbatical · 17/04/2017 17:27

I should add, the hunt for the perfect dressing gown is a bit of a thing for me...

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 17/04/2017 17:30

thank you. the shape and fabric look about right, although they're quite pale, and I'm not wild on the print.

What about this? www.amazon.co.uk/Dressing-Lightweight-cotton-Hand-printed-natural-x/dp/B00KWBK93K/ref=lp_4852004031_1_2?srs=4852004031&ie=UTF8&qid=1492446576&sr=8-2&tag=mumsnetforum-21 Yes - Amazon!

Ahem - anyone else really, really like dressing gowns?

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 17/04/2017 17:35

thanks sabbatical - that's more like it.
fifty quid though. But I will definitely keep that one in the running.

I love my dressing gowns and currently looking for a summer season one.

onalongsabbatical · 17/04/2017 17:38

Yes, I think £50 is a bit steep, too. I'm going to make dinner in a minute, but I might be back...
But where are all the other dressing gown lovers, or am I weird?

onalongsabbatical · 17/04/2017 17:38

Ah, good, another one...

JamesDelaneysHat · 17/04/2017 17:42

I've got one of the type onalongsabbatical linked to (just a different pattern). It's nice but very thin material and possibly not worth 50 quid. But then I'm from sensible Presbyterian Scottish stock and normally stump around in an ankle length fleece or towelling number that is a natural contraceptive so you might not want advice from me!

Strummerville · 17/04/2017 20:41

I've just bought this one Smile

Free delivery until tomorrow 10am too!

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 17/04/2017 20:43

I like, strummer. Long, cotton, and hides the dirt. Hopefully.

I would second having a look in tk maxx

FreeButtonBee · 17/04/2017 20:50

I have two!

White company rose coloured one (good for hiding the dirt) hit sadly they don't do them anymore.

And this brilliant 100% cotton kimono style robe. carolondon.com/department/c/kimono-robes It is lovely for spring/summer and washes up a treat. And has two really big pockets as well. I got it for wearing in hospital when having the DCs

Trills · 17/04/2017 20:59

Many M&S ones come in lengths.

My winter dressing gown is in size LONG and I appreciate it very much.

Goldfishjane · 17/04/2017 21:06

I have this in the dark blue

I have a plush, long, black Rosie HW one from Marks that was about £40. It is warm and lush with pretensions to glamour. I am 5ft 9 and it comes just above ankle.

Gah81 · 17/04/2017 21:08

Vintage housecoats. Fitted and glamorous. Look on www.etsy.com. I am making a conscious effort to feel vixenish around the house by myself, and not keep the glamour/polish solely for when I am going out!

Gah81 · 17/04/2017 21:09

(They come in wool and sturdy satin or cotton too, they are not just frothy lacy confections!)

Maidupmum · 17/04/2017 21:13

I love cyberjammies
Really good quality and nice and long!

Nettletheelf · 17/04/2017 23:13

I second the Caro London recommendation. I got one after seeing them suggested on here. I've got the 'red vine' design and it's fab. So difficult to find a pretty cotton dressing gown on the high street...everything is fluffy/plush and I don't want to look like honey monster.

Ollivander84 · 17/04/2017 23:21

I have a long tall Sally one which is floor length, and a shorter joules one

Imbroglio · 18/04/2017 03:43

The wolf and badger ones are gorgeous. My favourite dressing gown lasted almost 20 years and I miss it terribly.

Regressionconfession · 18/04/2017 04:20

One hundred stars do gorgeous dressing gowns. They're kimono style in lovely soft cotton that flows more like silk. Lots of different patterns including old screen printed maps of London, New York and Paris. Mine was a present but I think it cost about £50.

Want2bSupermum · 18/04/2017 04:30

My dressing gown at my dads home is from liberty. It's silk and perfect for my dads cold home. My kids love it. I've had it since I was 15 (a gift from my gran) so it's now 21 years old and still looks new. Goodness knows how expensive it was but it's very nice!
