I'm yet to find a Tom Ford fragrance that knocks my socks off. Just as well considering the price.

Yes Squoosh - all my boyfriends have been associated in my mind with different aftershaves too. Haven't yet had to ask a guy to change their fragrance because of it but it's probably only a matter of time

I wish they would bring back Moss Breches weep but the Perfume Parlour dupe is pretty good.

I find most TFs a bit over-hyped, especially the ubiquitous Italiany sounding ones that everyone seems to be doing these days. They're nice enough, but quite one-dimensional.

Tobacco Vanilla veers far too much into vanilla-land for me, for tobacco perfumes I prefer Miller Harris Feuilles de Tabac. The Karvol-y bit will be coming from the balsam element- steer clear of the Tauer L'Air du Desert Marocain etc if you don't like it!

I do love Black Orchid though.

I got a sample of the new L'Occitane with some face stuff, and didn't like it at all. First one of theirs that I have passed straight onto dd.

The best one of the genre though is, without any doubt, Feminite de Bois, in the perfume version.

With Tom Ford, you're paying for the bottle.

In fact, with most perfumes, the bottle costs more to produce than the scent itself!

If you want the best leather ever, it's Cuir Cordoba by Keiko Mecheri. Tuscan Leather, I agree, is also good

Well thank fuck. I thought it was just me. It smells awful. All the TF ones did. But I know people who swear by it and rave about it like it's a magic love potion. There's a Gay columnist who says a squirt of it will guarantee men will fall at his feet and follow him down the street to ask what he's wearing.

I love black orchid and orchid soleil but the fancy ones are overrated IMO

Sorry to bring the tone down but I couldn't resist smelling Kouros the other day in JL.
Took me right back to my teenage years when I used to spray it on my scarf and inhale it all day at school.

On my wish list are the tf soliel blanc and penhaligons equinox bloom. Yum.

ihatethecold- I bought a 2ml sample of Kouros just because....

Bejazzled- I am in Italy so loads of places won't ship but I use Scent Samples based in Cornwall- or Aus Liebe zum Duft in Germany mainly. Lots more UK based ones I imagine though.

Lots of perfume houses (especially the Niche (ie £££££££££s) ones offer discovery sets and sample sets at quite reasonable prices as well.

Jules Dior is good too.
They seem to have brought it back, I have a vintage one somewhere.
