Sort of tight underneath the scar and chubby above

Magnum - my second was elective - still have the overhang :(

Imstickingwiththisone · 07/04/2017 19:56

Pregnancy destroyed my tummy. There is a definite layer of flab but i know even if i pulled my finger out and tied to tone there is just too much loose skin. And the skin that i have plenty of is covered in stretch marks.

The c section i had second time hasn't done any damage apart from the scar. No overhang although there is definitely flab it's just spread out Grin

Motherwithflaws · 07/04/2017 19:58

My cs from 6 years ago was vertical. And they've opened it up again twice since then. My stomach used to be lovely and flat but now it's rather wonky Sad

MrsD28 · 07/04/2017 20:04

Not necessarily - my scar is in my pubic hair and is not very noticeable at all. I did have a puffy area above it for the first two months or so but that is gone now (10 months). My stomach is not flat - but I am still carrying an extra 1.5 stone of baby weight Blush.

I think it very much depends on how your skin bounces back from weight changes. Mine is pretty good - I have lost 4 stone in the past without any flabby skin.

zonkin · 07/04/2017 20:06

I've had four c-sections and although the scar is almost invisible, no matter how much weight I lose, or exercise I do (and I do a lot), there is an overhang.

At my antenatal appointments with the fourth pregnancy I did ask that as they were opening up and stitching couldn't they just trim away a bit of that excess but they said no (whilst appreciating the issue!).

Was advised that the best thing to do was to wait until at least a year after the last c-section, stabilise my weight and then get a tummy tuck. The consultant also said that no amount of exercise would get rid of it. Sigh!

Don't have the £££ or time available to recover to do the tummy tuck tho.

zonkin · 07/04/2017 20:07

Should add that I still wear a biking tho!

frogsgoladidahdidah · 07/04/2017 20:09

I have had four and yes.

But I'll take it as part and parcel of my tiger stripes.

Sparrowlegs248 · 07/04/2017 20:11

I had a c section then a vbac. Lucky both tines I think, I don't think my tummy is wrecked, no overhang (unless I get fat.....) and the episiotomy from the vbac is also fine!

EyeoftheStorm · 07/04/2017 20:12

2 c-sections here. Mine's very low and the scar is flat and hidden by pubic hair. No overhang. It's just luck and genetics surely.

TizzyDongue · 07/04/2017 20:13

Yes. Have a ledge!! The scar is under it.

Neverknowing · 07/04/2017 20:14

Idk I think mines fine tbh? But I've only had one.
Really glad I didnt see threads like these before I had one though!! I guess I haven't been looking but I still wear a bikini and I don't have any overhang. The scar is under my knicker line though.

FreeButtonBee · 07/04/2017 20:16

Weirdly my tummy was perfectly flat after ELCS for my twins (and I was enormous - put on 5st and had two 6lb babies!) and the scar was barely noticeable after 6 months

DS2 (singleton pregnancy, less weight gain, another ELCS) and everything is pretty awful. My skin just wasn't as resilient second time around and the scar is more puckered. It's look better if I lost a stone but will always be pretty obviously c sectiony I think.

shggg245 · 07/04/2017 20:17

I've got a a nice waist, normalish upper abs, my lower abs are awful. Sounds ridiculous but it's really affecting me. Looks like a bulge just above my bikini line.

My boss called me in to ask if I was pregnant and said she'd noticed the size of my stomach, apparently loads of other people have been talking about too. I was appalled and really upset.

I'm a 12-14 so not very overweight, ideally I'd would like to lose a stone but it makes little difference to the bulge. I've never felt so shitty about myself. First section was OK, 2nd was a messy wound and never really looked right. Sad

I'm so sick of people asking me if I'm pregnant - it's really hard. I'm seriously considering surgery, but too embarrassed to go to docs. So to answer your question I guess it depends on the muscles and whether they split. Saying that I've got 2 beautiful children so shouldn't moan :-)

lovelyredwine · 07/04/2017 20:18

Mine is fine - just a thin white line 6 years later. Not made any difference really to my stomach. Maybe I was lucky.

CheesyChristie · 07/04/2017 20:18

I had elcs 15 months ago. I have a small scar that could pass for a stretch mark and that is it. I don't have an overhang at all tbh.

On the other hand my cervix is down by my knees as a result of dc1 so it's not all good!

ClarkWGriswold · 07/04/2017 20:19

Yes! I've got no feeling in my lower stomach and a massive overhang like a big apron. C sections 23 months apart

BubbleBed · 07/04/2017 20:21

My sections didn't ruin my stomach. My pregnancies did. My section scars are tiny, barely noticeable, below the bikini line. My belly is stretched and baggy from being short and having long, fat, babies.

Fairylea · 07/04/2017 20:21

Mine did. I don't give a flying fuck that it has but it absolutely ruined it! But I think for me some of that was that before having babies I was a size 8, 5ft 7 slim thing and then with dd I ballooned to 14 stone and then had a difficult (vaginal) birth with separated stomach muscles. Eventually it went flat but never went back together. Ten years later I had ds by elective c section and I think cutting through the already separate muscles just ruined it completely. I now have about a 24 pack (as opposed to 6 pack!) and my stomach is flabby and no matter how skinny I get it's still "tuckabkle" into my trousers.

It doesn't bother me though, personally I am not fussed about my body really anymore. I am a size 16 ish now, I still enjoy the way I look in terms of clothes and make up but have no desire to have the body I had before children really.

Lucked · 07/04/2017 20:22

No mine is really low, well below my pubic hair. I am over weight and currently have a bit of a tummy but my scar is way down below all that. I need a good light to find it.

I've had 2 CS and have a sort of pouch

Teabagtits · 07/04/2017 20:29

Nope have a beautiful section scar flat and barely visible.... the pringles however, they ruined my stomach!

Beachhairdontcare · 07/04/2017 20:35

I have an overhang, but I'm only six weeks post EMCS, so I'm hoping it will improve massively.
The scar is very neat and low down so that's something I suppose.

I think perhaps the state of your muscles pre CS tends to impact the outcome, mine were already shot to hell from two other pregnancies.

jenniuol · 07/04/2017 20:37

My tummy is literally no different after my c section. The scar is still numb and quite red (after 4 years) though. I am slim and didn't gain very much weight in pregnancy but I don't know whether that made any difference or not. My tummy is as flat as it was pre pregnancy.

EccentricPickle · 07/04/2017 20:38

I think pregnancy can ruin your stomach anyway.

I didn't have a CS but pre babies I was very slim (like many 22 year olds) and small in height. My first was 8lbs 7 so it probably took its toll. After she was born I went back to pre-pregnancy weight very quickly and was left with a saggy skin overhang, which a lot of people say you get from caesareans. There are also a few stretch marks on the lower part of my tummy too.

Never mind - it's nowt a pair of Spanx can't sort.

Oh and I had an extensive episiotomy too, so my stomach and everything else is fucked! Grin

Tough luck, DH! You're stuck with me! Wink
