Please can someone recommend a heavy duty foundation?

Price not an issue. I've tried Estee lauder, bare minerals, younquie. I'm quite pale and want to get some samples online. I use a serum which helps. Primer dries me out. I have dry skin with occasional spots. I want heavy duty coverage that lasts all day. I have a real technique brush but struggling to clean it properly!!

I really like Clarins True Radiance. Worth going to a department store and trying some.

I've got horrible skin with acne scarring, and I've just discovered La Roche Posay Effeclar BB Blur, thanks to a recommendation on here. It's amazing. I always use my fingers to apply foundation, so I can't say how it would go on with a brush or sponge, but it's the first thing I've found in years that makes my skin look halfway decent.

FruitCider · 04/04/2017 08:16

The more foundation you wear, the worse your skin will get. Have you tried treating the problem rather than covering it up? X

Ineedagoodusername · 04/04/2017 10:25

I don't have particularly bad skin fruit cider.

Why do you want a full coverage foundation then? Sorry if I sound stupid! It's just my skin is ok and it's never even occurred to me to wear it.

EatsShitAndLeaves · 04/04/2017 15:48

I think full coverage foundation is really unflattering tbh.

I can spot a face covered in double wear at 100 paces Smile.

It's much more flattering to wear a medium/light coverage and use a great pigmented concealer where you need it.

Ineedagoodusername · 04/04/2017 22:38

My skin is ok but I want it to look flawless. Eatshitandleaves what concealer would you recommend? My problem with my foundation I use is it seems to rub off. It also seems to clog in my nose.

I have a couple I like - Clarins under my eyes and hourglass concealer stick to cover any pigmentation/blemishes.

People rave about Laura Mercia Secret camouflage but I haven't used it personally.

EatsShitAndLeaves · 04/04/2017 23:15

It also sounds like you need a primer tbh if you have concerns with longevity and pores.

A heavier foundation doesn't automatically last any longer than a light/medium coverage. It's not actually always any more "hardwearing" - it's just more pigmented - and can make your face look very "mask like".

I'd think about getting a primer (smashbox have a good range), a lighter foundation and a well pigmented concealer - set with a finely milled powder (my favourites are Charlotte Tilbury and Hourglass Ambient powders).

TabithaCatsss · 05/04/2017 00:23

I do sort of agree with @EatsShitAndLeaves I use a full coverage but that's because I have type 1 rosacea as you can see in the pic and I really don't like the look of full coverage but I have to put up with it to cover the redness

I'd love to be able to wear a light coverage and use concealer but I'd use the whole tube because I have so much to cover. If you can, go lighter.

TabithaCatsss · 05/04/2017 00:24

Yep I definitely don't know how to attach a picture then Blush

shitgibbon · 05/04/2017 00:57

Kat Von D Lock It foundation is fab. You can buy online.

shitgibbon · 05/04/2017 00:58

I think you'd need the colour 'Light 41'

Ineedagoodusername · 05/04/2017 09:20

Primer normally dries me out.

Leichner foundation is really good and a little goes a long way. I get mine from Amazon. It's cheap, it last ages and looks lovely on.

SoYouBetterRun · 05/04/2017 09:35

Make up Forever. Primers and foundations are great.

RockyBird · 05/04/2017 09:39

I got bourgeois healthy after a recommendation on here. It evens out rather than masks. I dust with clarins or Clinique mineral powder if I want a heavier finish.

bookworm14 · 05/04/2017 09:45

It's at the cheaper end of the spectrum but I'm really loving L'Oreal Infallible Total Cover at the moment. The coverage is the best I've ever come across. You only need a tiny amount though unless you want to look like you're wearing a mask!

Anchovies12 · 05/04/2017 10:38

I'm currently using clinique beyond perfecting which is a good mix of long lasting without a matt finish. I also like armani power fabric (get a sample first - it's about £40!) and IT cosmetics bb cream which has great coverage.

EatsShitAndLeaves · 05/04/2017 12:17

You can get moisturising primers OP - smashbox do one.
