How do you feel about yourself with and without makeup?

I've worn makeup since I was 13 and I don't feel like 'me' without it . I sometimes feel like 2 different pp tbh as I'd never go out ( except to pop to the local shops, go swimming etc) without it .I am quite pale with blotchy skin, prone to redness and think I look ill without it. However, with well applied make up I can look pretty good!

Wearing make up hasn't harmed my skin as I've always taken it off at night, moisturised etc but my idea of hell would be to be put in a situation where I couldn't wear it as I'd feel ugly and unconfident.

Wondered how other pp feel about their looks with/without make up ?

I don't really wear make up, I have some but it is so old that it is probably better off in the bin. I don't have great skin but.I feel very self conscious in make up - like it is running down my face or has turned me a weird shade of orange. I can appreciate well-applied make up as well as a bare face, and maybe it is my lack of experience in.applying it that makes me feel so self conscious and I should just practice some more.
Having said that, it annoys me that DH's face is generally seen as socially acceptable, pale eyelashes and pores and all (as long as it is clean etc) and mine is not.

I look rough as a dog without make up.

Rarely go out without it, I wear foundation, powder, mascara and eye liner. Makes a huge difference.

I feel so much better in once I've got my face on.

I can't remember the last time I didn't put on makeup. I'd have to be really ill, bedridden! I don't like my skin-it's really red and blotchy and I have all these little red marks like scars from spots or something. I'm going to try la roche posay as I'd like to wear less foundation.

I look rough as a badgers arse without any bake up but try and have tei makeup free days in a week! I have pigmented skin and redish cheeks, nostril area and chin so not good. Am getting IPL treatment soon to reduce all of that!

Then I have three levels of make up hahaha Grin

  1. 'Can't be arsed with full face but can't bear to go out without any at all' - primer, cc cream, concealer, foundation and powder, mascara and bit of contour/blusher on cheeks (microbladed eyebrows - happy days!)
  1. 'Work face' - all of the above plus browny eyeshadows, brown eyeliner
  1. 'Slap it all on, I'm on a night out face' - all of the above and more of it, different colour eyeshadow, and black eyeliner and lipstick!!

Most annoying to do is work face, wish I could get away without and sometimes I do the 'can't be atsed face' if I fancy an extra ten mins in bed!

Love the 'slap it all on face' makes me feel confident and more attractive!! Just need to go out more!!

As long as my hair looks good I can go without make-up as I suit a natural look, but 95% of the time l wear it. Definitely wear make-up for a night out.

Not allowed to wear makeup at work. It's so good to get extra time in bed 😊.

Wear it at weekends though.

reallyanotherone, I'm glad somebody said that, as it's what I was thinking reading this thread. If makeup is so wonderful, why aren't men wearing it?

^I always read these threads with interest.

The language used- I look tired and ill without it, I look better with it, feel self conscious without, make up enhances...^

Then I wonder why men don't wear make up? Do they not look tired and ill without it? look better with it? Wouldn't it just even out the skin tone, a slick of mascara enhance lashes?

I have a face and skin that takes well to make up. I only have one look, which is for leaving the house, whether for work or seeing friends. I am re-discovering the joys of make-up and hair in my late 40s and trying new things.

I will not leave the house without makeup. It also acts as a barrier and protects against sun damage. I am lucky in that my skin is not sensitive to any product and I don't break out.
