Anyone else loving The Ordinary skincare range?

I've been using the products recommended by Victoria Health for 3 months now and loving it GrinMy skin is softer and no longer feels dehydrated but more importantly bar the odd hormonal spot pre-period, I'm blemish free. My haul costs around £30 and is just coming to an end so far far cheaper than anything I've tried before. Would really recommend trying it iSmile

What are you using and what routine is working for you?

SavoyCabbage · 26/03/2017 20:20

I've just started using it but it's so hard to work it all out! Unless that's just me...

I'm finding the buffet quite drying and I am not sure I like the eye stuff I am using but it's early days for me.

thisgirlrides · 26/03/2017 20:27

Morning is just a wash in the shower then I apply Niacinamide 10%+ zinc, Hyaluromic Acid 2% & their Natural moisturising factor. if I'm wearing foundation I use primer before applying make-up.
At night I wash with Cetaphil cleanser & hot flannel before applying the hyaluromic acid again, 10% Azelaic acid & finally Argan oil.
My skin was very dry but spot prone especially around the jaw & mouth but now looks & feels lovely (not perfect but best it's been in years!). I never did anything before except cleanser & Olay moisturiser in the morning so the routine takes a bit of getting used to but worth the effort. I can even go out without make-up on now which I'd never do before.

I use some of the stuff and like most of what I've tried. My regulars are,

Lactic 10% (PM)
Niacinamide & Zinc (PM)
Rosehip oil (PM & occasionally AM)
Retinoids 2% (PM about twice a week)

I'm on my 3rd bottles of lactic & Niacinamide, I like them so much. I've converted teenaged DD to them too and they've had a great effect on her teen skin.

I hated the vitamin c suspension. Horrible texture and gave me spots.

I am ambivalent about the moisturiser (HA and moisturising factors).

thisgirlrides · 26/03/2017 20:29

Savoy I just emailed Victoria health my skin issues & they told me what to buy & in what order to use it. Only thing I've added is the primer as I found the make-up didn't sit well directly on the moisturiser.

I'm a skincare obsessive, these have replaced quite expensive 'hi tech' products in my routine. They perform better on my skin and cost a fraction of the products I used to buy. No brainer.

whirliegig · 26/03/2017 21:03

I ordered a few, and I want to love it so much - I've got Buffet, Vitamin C, Niacinamide and Retinoid

Vitamin C is giving me spots too - going to stop using it.

Niacinamide and Retinoid not seeing much happening to be honest. What should I be noticing?

Buffet seems nice, I use it in the morning, but not really sure if it's doing anything...

My most successful skincare has been Paula's Choice BHA 2% . Wouldn't be without it now I've discovered it. Really changed my skin.

DameDeDoubtance · 26/03/2017 21:05

I use some of their products, the 2% retinol, their vitamin C, I get my oils elsewhere and my acids from here

I like them a lot.

Kennington · 26/03/2017 22:37

I like them: I think buffet is great as a night serum
I used 2% retinoids x2 per week and about to stop as it is the summer and I only use low SPF
I use vit c as a mask in front the tv for an hour and never leave it on longer as the texture is odd.
I think the range is great - it has everything and is cheap!!

faustina · 27/03/2017 07:38

I love most of what I've bought, but I agree about the moisturiser - a bit disappointing. Tell you what though - the slightly more expensive one from Niod - hydration vaccine (?) is the best I've ever used - and I've used a LOT of different ones

Reptilefanmum · 27/03/2017 08:28

I've just bought the hydration vaccine, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid and rose hip oil. I wanted to continue using my Liz Earle cleanser. Can anyone advise on a regime with these products please?

VintagePerfumista · 27/03/2017 08:52

I'm also a bit confuddled about what to use, when, and how often. I think I will email VH and ask for instructions!

I have:

Hyaluronic
Buffet
Vitamin C
Retinoid

The Vit C (as people on the skincare thread warned) is a horrid texture, but I am persevering. I like the hyaluronic very much.

I'm a recent purchaser so did one week of Vit C+ Buffet in the evening, then one week of hyaluronic + buffet, yesterday did first retinoid + hyaluronic.

I also have a zillion other serums in the bathroom cupboard- I use one of those in the morning.

Sciurus83 · 27/03/2017 09:45

I've just got Buffet and Rosehip and I'm a bit underwhelmed. Buffet I find a bit drying, the Rosehip is nice but nothing to write home about. I may try hyaluronic once I've used up my pixi milky mist, do you use azaelic in the same way as glycolic toner? May give the retinol a go, I haven't had that in my routine for a while since Sunday Riley Luna half bottle and I can't afford the full size for sure!

BumbleNova · 27/03/2017 10:21

I'm really liking them! i am using buffet twice a day, then hyaluronic and then the rose hip oil in the evening, my clinique moisture surge during the day. I'm impressed how much better moisturised my skin is. the oil sinks in really well too. for the price point, I'm really impressed.

Wtfdoicare · 27/03/2017 10:22

I have the Vitamin C serum, the Buffet and the Retinoid (2%?). I have dry skin, with few fine lines, overall skin seems to be looking good with these products. Thoughts are below!

Vitamin C: strange texture and slightly stingy when I've first applied it. I have dry skin and put a moisturiser and SPF over the top of it when it has sunk in. I always apply it in the morning. I've noticed a strange thing with one of my pen eyeliners, if I've used the Vitamin C serum beforehand the eyeliner changes colour on my eyes! Must be a PH-dependent thing. Anyway I think I am seeing benefits with glow and clear skin with the C serum.

Buffet: I use this in the evening. I am not sure if it reacts with the C serum otherwise I would layer the two in the morning. Does anyone know? I know you can't combine Vitamin C and niacinamide. I find Buffet quite moisturising, and always use a cream on top.

Retinoid: love this and use it most evenings. It goes on nicely and seems to keep my skin looking good. I've been using retinols in various forms for the last 10 years and this is quite good, but not sure it is as potent as some I have used previously.

I am interested in trying TO lactic acid next.

Gah81 · 27/03/2017 11:50

I started using The Ordinary's hyaluronic and Paula's BHA 2% liquid on my face at about the same time and I'm not sure which one is responsible but my skin is also the best it has been in years. Red acne marks going and blemish free after 17 years with terrible, scarring acne. I have been going concealer-free for the first time in many years as a result.

Squaddielife · 27/03/2017 13:29

I've just bought several products after emailing Deciem for a regime and am really hoping for some good results.
My regime is a mix of The Ordinary, NIOD and Hylamide though.
I've heard great things about Hylamide SubQ Eyes

Bodicea · 27/03/2017 20:00

Been using a couple of months and loving it. Skins looks more glowy.
Using niacinamide and alternating between buffet and hylaronic acid in the morning ( work in a drying ahtmosphere so don't use hylaronic acid on work days as read it can make skin worse).
Retinoid ( twice a week) buffet and rosehip oil in the evenings.

Bodicea · 27/03/2017 20:03

Kennington I am thinking I will stop the retinoid now it's the summer. I hope it will keep till autumn.

thisgirlrides · 27/03/2017 20:29

What does the buffet do? Feel like I'm missing out Grin

OP posts:
Bodicea · 27/03/2017 20:39

It's a general anti aging serum. Has quite a few thing in it like peptides, matrixyl etc, hence the name buffet. It is one of their more expensive ones.

riskyinred · 27/03/2017 21:39

Has anybody tried the foundation yet? Just spied it on Victoria Health.

riskyinred · 27/03/2017 21:41

Also when people are saying they emailed VH for help with a regimen - do you just email the customer care address on the site or am I missing something?

Ollivander84 · 27/03/2017 21:46

Foundation is pre order only so not tried yet :)

Kennington · 28/03/2017 07:13

Does anyone want to try my 2% retinal? It is almost full and about 6 weeks old. I cannot use it in the summer as I only use low SPF because SPF clogs my pores so badly! Pm me!
