Comfy, closed toe shoes that look stylish for summer? And is this a monstrosity?

I am looking for shoes or sandals with covered toes. I would really like a bit of elevation under the heel, as its more comfortable and a nice, thick, fashionable-ish padded sole.

The best I found so far was this, is it terrible and have you any better ideas?

I like those almost closed toe sandals. Are the soles squishy and comfy?

insomniaat4am · 12/03/2017 06:16

I don't have a problem re the back slipping off and my heels are fairly narrow. I guess all you can do is try. They come with a returns form/label so presume pretty easy to return.

grace9892 · 12/03/2017 06:45

I second the fit flop reco, just ordered a pair of balet flats in nude that have a decent bit of heel support . They also have a slip on in nude that has better support over top of your arch

CatsRidingRollercoasters · 12/03/2017 07:48

I have very narrow ankles and they fit well. The back isn't elasticated but is fairly tight. The leather is so soft that it stretches and moulds to fit perfectly. They come with a box AND a dust bag! Quite tempted to wear them today. It's almost sandal weather surely!

I have also wondered about these Art sandals - again it is hard to find a stockist to try them on.

Oh I love the look of those palmiaras!!!
I want to order some today as I think they would be really versatile for the spring/ summer but I can decide what colour I would get most use out of- decisions, decisions.....

Sorry op the shoes you posted first do not look good at all and I am a big fan of comfy shoes.

Floisme · 12/03/2017 10:22

Yes, yes to closed toed shoes. My feet burn and my toes are not my finest feature.

I like the look of the Palmairas too. I wasn't going to bother buying sandals this year unless we get a summer that lasts more than a week but I'm now eyeing up the gunmetal ones.

pseudonymity · 12/03/2017 10:25

From the first picture it looks like you'd just be better off getting some trainers.

herecomesthsun · 12/03/2017 10:28

I want something a bit smarter than trainers, that will let the air get to my feet but cover my toes.

itstheyearzero · 12/03/2017 10:33

I got some of these last year. Same as the Palmieras but cheaper again. Very good quality and very comfortable!

pseudonymity · 12/03/2017 15:02

I wouldn't say the first pair are smarter than trainers, sorry. I have the Menorcan sandals, they are nice but a different ball game to something with a cushioned footbed.

herecomesthsun · 12/03/2017 15:41

I think I could wear leather lace ups but not trainers to work.

I did like these Menorcan ones, and they looked to me as though they might have cushioned soles?

I just bought these...bit pricey but was going through Heathrow so managed to get them at the airport.
Super comfy

Vionic - just looked them up.

AllPizzasGreatAndSmall · 12/03/2017 17:23

Those Pavers are truly awful. My mum, who's in her eighties, would possibly wear them because she needs comfy shoes to fit her bunions.

MaQueen · 12/03/2017 17:57

Both those pairs of shoes are beyond hideous...my Mum wouldn't be seen dead in them (and she's 75, with a bunion).

herecomesthsun · 12/03/2017 18:55

Well, I want
-comfort, with a padded sole.
-Thick soles are in fashion, so there's a glimmer of hope. And I would like a
-closed toe and
-some ventilation for summer and ideally a bit of
-elevation in the heel.

And I would like it to look ok for work or even vaguely sylish.

And either be available in a local store to a radius of 20m to try on or alternatively available via a seller whose return policy is straightforward.

mowgelijeffs · 12/03/2017 21:08

All the shoes are very mumsy.

Try Superga metalic ones.

milkysmum · 12/03/2017 23:54

Oh my word op are you for real with those pavers shoes? 😳

NotMeNoNo · 13/03/2017 00:12

Fly London, the sandal ones are called Yuna you see everywhere, they have a lovely cobalt blue this season as well as basic colours. I don't have any but like the fact you can wear them with or without tights.

NotMeNoNo · 13/03/2017 00:14

And a few other Fly London styles if you look on their website

herecomesthsun · 13/03/2017 06:47

Yuna are too high.

I'd like to get some palmairas, when I went to the website a message flashed up saying I could get 10% off if I signed up to mailing list. I accidentally clicked 'never show this message again' and now I can't get it back! Can anyone help?!

insomniaat4am · 13/03/2017 09:48

River, their customer service are really good so if you email them and explain they'll probably send you the code via email and sign you up to the mailing list x
