Thread 1 Thread 2 Thread 3 Thread 4 Thread 5

For those who are taking a peek and wondering whether previous threads are worth reading, we mostly discuss a bit of advanced skincare here with a perspective of seeking out the right ingredients for our particular skin needs. Distinguishing the acid toners from the actives whilst avoiding the truly unimpressive and harmful ingredients with a hope to achieve a bit of anti-ageing, alleviate irritation and sensitivities with some idle chat in between. Deviations on this thread are mostly my fault. Grin

If you're in need of some advice coming to grips with your skincare routine please don't hesitate to ask, we don't bite, only occasionally sting with a bit of Biologique Recherche P50 now and then Wink. Just make sure to state clearly what your concerns and needs are in as much detail as possible, skincare is highly individual and a random recommendation for a 'good' product will be completely different from one person to the next.

Make sure you've read the earlier threads (or at the very least the first one) so we're not being asked to answer previously raised questions. It takes a lot of time and effort to answer these queries and often the answers can be found in previous threads, but if you still have questions relating specifically to you, use the following form to make life easier on us. We generally answer one a day on a first come first served basis. Not everyone will have answers and sometimes we can't answer you at all. We're only a bunch of amateurs that can respond by suggesting what we would do in your place, for any severe conditions please seek out professional help.

Ahem, and finally a little note on spending. I'm well aware these threads cause many to reach for their wallets and spend with wild abandon. There can sometimes be a bit of a frenzy surrounding the excitement around a newly discovered product or on the back of great improvements when someone reports back. This is all great, it doesn't however, mean everything that's a sudden miracle for one will be it for you. Usually, it's a light bulb moment for connecting the right skincare ingredient with an individual experiencing a specific problem. Take your time to mull over decisions and question whether it's right for you too. Skincare is highly individual, it's a slow game that should cost mostly in patience, input, education, and perseverance. Please don't make it cost you financially needlessly.

My skin is misbehaving Angry

Pupsiecola · 14/03/2017 20:38

Bit of a first world problem but I bought a mirror earlier today:-

www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-silver-effect-travel-mirror/p231282504

Ideal for travel as I can't put my make up on without a magnifying mirror these days. There were two stick labels on the actual glass. One came off really easily. The other didn't. I've scraped it with my nails, used a little nail polish remover, hot soapy water and then opticians' glasses spray. It's still all smeary. I am so annoyed!!!

mintmagnummm · 14/03/2017 21:00

Pupsie try a windowlene wipe

OpenMindedSceptic · 14/03/2017 21:35

pupsie try hand sanitizer gel or - if it feels sticky - talc powder.

EnidButton · 14/03/2017 23:39

You need this stuff Pupsie www.homebase.co.uk/en/homebaseuk/sticky-stuff-remover-gel-869416 (The small spray version rather than the big bottle of liquid.) Works in seconds, it will all just wipe off. Good to have in the house just in case.

EnidButton · 14/03/2017 23:42

Just looked and they sell it on Amazon too.

Pupsiecola · 14/03/2017 23:52

Thanks all. OMG Enid that's actually a thing! Need to go to Homebase (time to have the kitchen painted!). Will pick some up. Thank you x

EnidButton · 15/03/2017 01:23

Smile just remember to get the little spray can rather than the screw top biggish bottle. So much easier and less runny.

mintmagnummm · 15/03/2017 13:50

Anyone know a product to get rid of sebaceous filaments on a reactive dehydrated skin?

hollinhurst84 · 15/03/2017 14:27

I think BHA is usually the advice for sebaceous filaments

banivani · 15/03/2017 14:38

Yeah, BHA is usually the advice. You could try BHA and an oil cleanser massage maybe, but maybe not if you have reactive skin. Do you react badly to BHA? Have you tried little silk fingertip cocoons? cosmetic-love.com/collections/cosrx/products/cosrx-blackhead-silk-fingerball-12ea

hollinhurst84 · 15/03/2017 16:43

Also don't apply acnecide/benzoyl peroxide at night BlushSad I've ruined my bedding

Fantastic Skincare - Snail Optional 🐌
banivani · 15/03/2017 17:46

I could have told you that, all my pillow cases are ruined, even my pyjama tops 😩 But I was in such a state I had to use the stuff twice a day for a while so had no choice. Now I only use it in the day if I feel I have to.

goatkid · 15/03/2017 18:23

Oh no Hollin, I'm another who learnt the hard away about BP. Lots of stained/ruined PJ tops that I still wear, luckily my bedding is white so no harm there.

hollinhurst84 · 15/03/2017 19:48

Weirdly I knew, I've stained towels before but I just didn't think!

BeaLola · 15/03/2017 21:44

pupsiecola re sticky labels - best thing to use is Sticky Stuff remover from Lakeland Plastics - it's fab at getting those labels off.

EnidButton · 15/03/2017 22:14

I linked to it up thread Bea. Smile Good stuff isn't it?

hollinhurst84 · 15/03/2017 22:45

Anyone seen the new Clinique vit C stuff? Interesting

mintmagnummm · 16/03/2017 07:26

Right so what product can I add to my routine to help get a smooth nose?? Fed up of the 'bobbly' appearance, the shine and filaments. I have them on forehead too

SheStoodInTheStorm · 16/03/2017 07:59

Waving at you all! Had an unintentional MN break and then I had to find you again...need to catch up!

160A4 · 16/03/2017 11:07

I've been away for a few days and am now on catch up.

Pupsie thanks for the link for P50. Also I've just ordered that travel mirror from JL. I still travel quite a bit for work and IME most hotels are hopeless when it comes to mirrors and lighting for doing hair and makeup. I hate the lighting in bathrooms and how often the mirror in the room is nowhere near a plug outlet so hair styling is a nightmare! Even high end ones often miss the mark on this when their rooms are designed. So that mirror will be very useful for me.

Pupsiecola · 16/03/2017 16:40

Glad to have helped 160. I was hankering after a pretty little compact mirror, but reality is I need something way bigger lol.

I'm really enjoying The Body Shop's aloe vera night cream. And I'm loving the NY rose beauty balm. I'm using it every other night and my skin is really liking it. My DS' skin is much better with the Neutrogena cleanser.

JDSTER · 16/03/2017 18:29

Yes Hollin I saw the Clinique vit c when you're was browsing on Boots website. Seems expensive when you compare it to TO vit c but I know texturally it's not a fave (I don't mind at all) so no doubt it's a more elegant formula.

160 did you order the P50? Pupsie how are you finding it? Does it live up to the hype for you?

miffy2 · 16/03/2017 19:15

Can you recommend where to buy the Biore Watery Essence, preferably 2018/2017 version and preferably 90ml option? I placed an order on ebay only for it to not arrive. Seller has given me a refund when I really want the product. I alternate between that one, Bioderma Phytoderm and the Body Shop spf50. Thanks!

Dulcimena · 16/03/2017 23:06

Pupsie yes I'm interested in your thoughts about p50 too. I think we've been using it for about the same length of time now (5 months ish?). Are you using W? Would be nice to compare notes.
