Interesting article DR. I bought these last week, I was convinced I wouldn't like them but I love them, they are fab.

DarrellRivers · 04/03/2007 17:59

ohh they look lovely, my mine gripe usually with TS is that their trousers are so low cut you can see your pants, those look fab.
Also topshop does a short leg version I am sure which is good for me.
Think I might be heading there tomorrow again.

They are high waisted but not ridiculously so, quite comfy.

Monkeytrousers · 04/03/2007 18:22

I got two pairs of these Love them!

macneil · 04/03/2007 18:29

The truth is, the longer the material over your arse, the longer (and bigger all over) your arse looks. Hipsters do cut it in half, and also, if you have an hourglasss figure, particularly a short one, the extra material around the waist does you no favours - your t-shirt will hang close and smoothly if you don't have the thickest part of your trousers underneath it.

Another thing is that elongating your torso, weirdly, makes your legs longer. If you want to look like a mad little old man or proper tiny person, pull your waist band up and look at yourself in the mirror. Lowering it, slicing into the leg lower down, elongates the whole body. So this high waisted trend is something I shall be riding out.

DimpledThighs · 04/03/2007 18:33

MrsSpoon I your jeans - any stretch to them (lycra?)

Gobbledigook · 04/03/2007 18:39

The oasis ones look nice. I like the 'boyfriend' ones, I find they are quite flattering. I only wear slimmer, boot cut ones for going out at night. The only thing about boyfriend ones is that they are lower cut - I don't mind that except that if my top is too short it shows my belly which I don't like. It's not fat but it's crinkly from 3 babies in quick succession so I don't like it showing at all. I have to make sure tops will be long enough to cover the waistband. That's OK though - easy enough to find tops like that nowadays.

MrsSpoon · 04/03/2007 18:39

DT, they have 2% lycra.

DimpledThighs · 04/03/2007 18:45

yum!

bewilderbeast · 04/03/2007 19:16

I love boyfriend jeans (didn't know what they were called before this thread) I bought a pair after ds was born as they were c-section scar friendly have lived in them since would never have considered them before and they fit over my thunder thighs.

Skyler · 04/03/2007 19:27

I bought a pair of wide legged jeans from George at Asda for £18 and I think I will be getting another pair. They are so flattering and make my top half seem tiny (which it isn't) and they are v v v comfortable. They also do not give me builders bum.

ricepudding · 05/03/2007 18:05

Skyler, are the jeans you were talking about on line? I had a look and wasn't sure if the ones you are talking about are there. I am desperate for some new ones, still can't fit into pre-baby clothes and can't stand my maternity jeans

OrmIrian · 05/03/2007 18:09

Bet there are too short though whatever the waist is like....

MrsSpoon · 05/03/2007 19:53

OrmIrian, mine are 32" leg, is that any use?

filthymindedvixen · 05/03/2007 19:58

oooh I'm excited i love flares and bf jeans.

What can I wear if i'm skinny and older? (37) Don't want to look muttony....

Skyler · 05/03/2007 20:58

No, I can't find them on line I am afraid. They are quite long. Hope you find them, I think they are fab and I know I will be wearing them loads dressed up or down.

ricepudding · 05/03/2007 21:27

They sound fab Skyler, thanks for looking Skyler, I'll keep my eyes open and see if they turn up on the site

ricepudding · 05/03/2007 21:28

Sorry, didn't mean to use your name twice!

OrmIrian · 06/03/2007 07:31

Thanks MrsSpoon but the only time I've ever found any long enough they were 36". Gap - and when I got another pair sent to me they weren't long enough and I had to let them down

MrsSpoon · 06/03/2007 10:00

OR, how tall are you?

Skyler · 06/03/2007 11:09

mabel1973 · 23/03/2007 11:13

I saw the title of this thread and thought it would answer all my jeans related questions....
I have some money to spend on anew pair, and was going o play it safe with boyfriend jeans, but after seeing mrs spoons, I am trying to convince myself that high waisted flares are the way forward.....i showed them to DH and he said they were minging....but what does he know.
I am 5'10" and a size 12. but have a bit of a tummy from 2 children, would high waisted jeans jus accentuate that?
I am still not sure if i actually like them.....!!!
