Am I the only woman in the Western world who doesn't wax their fanny?

Wordsmith · 28/02/2017 19:59

That's it really. Just reading the thread about a woman debating whether to wax and have a manicure before giving birth and there were loads of responses on the subject of nails but hardly anyone saying "For the love of God, woman, why would you choose to deforest your fanjo before it resembles a war zone?". Since when has denuding your lady garden been a mainstream activity and not something confined to sexploitation movies?

Nope, never have, never will.

As i said on the other thread, it increases infection risk.

bingohandjob · 28/02/2017 20:53

No, you're not the only one. TMI - I'm not particularly hairy - only shave legs/underarms every fortnight or so.

Karmaisabitch · 28/02/2017 21:01

I'm a religious shaver, had it waxed once....just can't justify paying £20 to have it waxed.

The itching was from the regrowth in the early days however, I find to stop it itching I now need to shave!

Being 33 weeks pregnant, I've now an excuse not to bother!

IlsaLund · 28/02/2017 21:08

I dont - where would I lather the soap? Grin

TheEdgeofSeventeen · 28/02/2017 21:10

I shave or wax all of mine off - although i'm really lazy with it and as i'm LD right now Im not bothering as much ... i've rid myself of the jungle since I was about 14 though i had no need then ...its become standard with my generation I'm afraid. Its actually a statement not to be rid of it x

FabulouslyGlamourousFerret · 28/02/2017 21:10

My friend posted this the other day and for some reason it really made me laugh - I hate memes usually!

Am I the only woman in the Western world who doesn't wax their fanny?
StillaChocoholic · 28/02/2017 21:49

Nah I've never waxed but do give it a trim when I can be bothered (very rarely). Actually got in the bath last night and thought oh I'll give it a trim, looked down and realised I can't bloody see it. 35 weeks pregnant so no way I'm gonna manage that really, can't remember the last time I did it so what's another 5 weeks or so of growth. It'll be reet.

CaoNiMa · 28/02/2017 21:50

I neither wax nor shave. It's like the Amazon rainforest down there. Which is fine, since I'm not a porn star.

Crumbs1 · 28/02/2017 21:51

No, can't think why I would except swimming and tummy covers and straying hairs.

FiddleFigs · 28/02/2017 21:57

No. I don't. I'm properly hairy, but I pick my battles (in this case, hairy face!). The most I do down there is a bit of trimming to keep it tidy. I also wear low cut swimwear, so don't even need to bother with a preholiday wax these days either!

Sallystyle · 28/02/2017 22:04

No. I don't give a crap what I look like down there. It's hair, it can stay.

I lost most of it anyway. It's rather comical looking now. I wash daily so it's always clean and hair doesn't change that. I just personally don't see the point in getting rid of hair that no one except dh and I see.

lazytuesday · 28/02/2017 22:06

nope did it once and will never do it again. It just looked really odd and childlike for a day and then it was all gross and stubbly.
Just neatly trim it now days and shave anything that would stick out of a swimsuit if im going swimming.

PetyrBaelish · 28/02/2017 22:09

I shave mine, quick swoosh everyday in the shower. Doesn't irritate me when I get regrowth, and I don't get a rash. When I tried waxing, however, the hairs being ripped out drew blood! I have concluded that I have a tough fanny with well anchored pubes.
I started as a bit of teenaged exploration really but it didn't take long before I got so used to it that it felt like something was there which shouldn't be when I have tried growing it back IYSWIM.

amistillsexy · 28/02/2017 22:14

Not a fat hairy chance in hell I'd do anything but wash my pubes! I've never plucked, shaved, waxed or trimmed. It just grew and now it stays as it is.

I've never had any complaints about anything that goes on in that department and anyone who did him plain could rest assured they'd never need to suffer the indignity again.
As for anyone else, tge only time mh pubes are in public is when I wear a swimmimv costume. If anyone wants to have a close look at my crotch when I'm getting into or out of our local baths they'll see some hairs poking out. So what? If won't kill them to see it and they shouldn't be looking that closely anyway 😕

amistillsexy · 28/02/2017 22:15

him plain ???
Complain of course....although him plain is beautifully Freudian 😂

Lessthanaballpark · 28/02/2017 22:18

Nope. It's there for a reason.

ThomasRichard · 28/02/2017 22:18

No I'm sure you're not. I got a bikini wax when I was massively pregnant and it hurt so much that my muscles went into some sort of spasm and I couldn't roll over or sit up. The beautician had to roll me off the couch like a beached whale Blush

gillybeanz · 28/02/2017 22:20

No, I've never done it.
I've used creams and shaved bits and pieces, not the whole lot.
Now I just keep it well trimmed as think it looks weird with no hair.

hickorydickorynurseryrhyme · 28/02/2017 22:22

No and never have

splendide · 28/02/2017 22:24

I did a few times and I quite liked it but haven't for ages now (years!).

Used to shave enough so couldn't see anything in a swimming cossie but now I wear men's shorts over my costume instead. They're little pink shorts like an Italian hunk might wear so I fear I'm misusing them.

busyboysmum · 28/02/2017 22:25

No but I'm in the over 40s group. Never had any complaints 😉

daffodil10 · 28/02/2017 22:30

No your not the only woman obviously. I am in the over 40 bracket, I'm not a porn star and I have mine waxed regularly. I think these threads create some of the most judgemental comments from mums netters. Why does it matter what people do? I struggle to understand why this preference offends so many people.

Wordsmith · 01/03/2017 08:09

Well of course it doesn't matter what people do, and it doesn't offend me. I know a lot of very young women feel that it's something that they should do, to make themselves attractive to men, and that does offend me.

OP posts:
oleoleoleole · 01/03/2017 08:11

Shave or hair removal cream, not wax. Just to tidy it up!

Strummerville · 01/03/2017 13:29

Never have and never will. I like my bush, it's lush. I was very sad when my crap thyroid made it thin out some.

Even if I wanted to, I never, ever could let some beautician mess with my bits. I have social and interpersonal issues and struggle enough with doctor and dentist visits. I really hate being touched at all by basically anyone other than DP and my kids.
