Dry peeling lips - help! I've tried everything!

My lips are constantly dry and peeling and no matter what lip balm I use it doesn't make a difference. I've tried them all - Chapstick, Blistex, Carmex, Nivea, Vaseline Intensive Care, Body Shop, Nuxe, Lanolips - nothing works. I exfoliate them and I look for balms that have things like moisturising oils or cocoa butter or Shea butter in them and avoid irritating ingredients but it makes no difference. My diet is fairly good and I drink at least a litre of water every day too.

Can anyone suggest a miracle product?

DD1 used to have terribly dry lips, and used all sorts of lipbalm to no avail.

It turned out she was allergic to lanolin! Which is an ingredient in most lipbalms (and some lipsticks too).

The moment she took care to avoid lanolin her dry lips cleared up immediately.

The clue came from our dentist, who said it looked like an allergic reaction. He said toothpaste can also sometimes cause it. But I immediately thought of lanolin, because DD1 is allergic to animals.

Another 8hr cream vote here. I use it overnight when taking roaccutane, it's the only thing that worked for me. I use the squeezy tube. Sometimes the lipstick type one for daytime.
I've heard good things about the body shop hemp but haven't bothered to try myself as the 8hr works so well for me.

I suffer from very dry lips too. At the moment I use Carmex in the tube. It works but needs regular reapplication...I've definitely not got to the root of the problem though.

Toothpaste never occurred to me as a potential cause, I'll have to look into it.

I take vitamins, I would hope a deficiency isn't causing it but you never know, I could be.

I have similar issues and tried Sara Happ - The Lip Slip. It's got a bit of a rose scent to it and may just be a rather fancy little lip balm but I had tried loads of other things and this worked wonders.
