I've been reading the M&S thread where many comments praise Sainsbo's.
If you buy clothes there, what do you buy or recommend?

I love their jeggings. So cheap and they don't go baggy at the knees like others I've bought. I have various tops from there too which have lasted really well. Love the kids clothes. I've just got a swimming costume from there too and it's really nice.

EssentialHummus · 31/01/2017 19:42

Tops, tshirts, undies all very good and hard-wearing. I buy their baby stuff for family abroad and have had raving reviews.

suchafuss · 31/01/2017 19:44

Skinny jeans, ordered 5 pairs at Christmas in different shades. Dark denim looks really smart

TheFirstMrsDV · 31/01/2017 19:46

I have a lot of clothes from TU.
I get my leggings from there. They are not always the same quality so I think they shop around for manufacturers for their basics.
I buy their basic black and white knickers. They last for ever.
I like their lounge clothes. Nice grown up joggers and yoga pants.

I have loads of stuff that people comment on. Dresses, trousers, skirts and coats. I wait for the 25% off before I buy and always have a look through their sale rails.
I have bought fantastic leather boots stupidly cheap and more 'fun' type foot wear, glittery Mary Janes, orange strappy sandals and nice faux converse.

Their skinny jeans are good. I like their black ones because they have belt loops

Their scarves are big and wide and are only about £4 in the sales.

I never thought I would be dressed by a supermarket. I am on the edgy side of fashion. I was a punk fgs!

It might be easier for me to tell you what I haven't bought from Tu anything by Gok Wan Grin

Karlakitten1 · 31/01/2017 19:48

I like their shoes and wait until sales, and the baby stuff is lovely and has funky designs.

TheFirstMrsDV · 31/01/2017 19:49

wtffgs I have been know to recoil from some of their clothes Grin

I am constantly amazed at the utter hideousness of some of their stuff. Its like a mid 80s littlewoods catalogue in there sometimes

Fooferella · 31/01/2017 19:57

I find them quite hit and miss when it comes to tops and dresses but I never try anything on because our sainsburys doesn't have changing rooms. I think their jeans are the best though. Both skinny and straight cut seem to work with my body type (overweight pear).

mumsnit · 31/01/2017 21:58

TU jeans are a good shape (I'm a pear too!) but I find the black ones don't keep their colour for more than a few washes!

Kids clothes are generally very good - just frustrating they are often out of sizes in my local store.

Great baby/ children's clothes which wishes well and last.

Menswear is great for casual stuff and my mid 30s husband gets a lot of stuff there. You just have to be selective. He got a gorgeous Parker coat there before Xmas.

Women's wear- £10 leggings are great
Skinny jeans and jeggings great for the price too
Not that keen in their tops the shapes can be a bit off
Shoes are good I have some tan knee high boots I got in 25% sale and they are always admired.
Really like the dresses but I always end up taking them back as they are not really cut for my shape.

Slippers and pjs good
Oh and scarves are great too for the price!

fruityb · 31/01/2017 22:42

Leggings jeggings and jeans are fab there. Have lots of underwear which is great and the tights are good as well.

I'm there loads. Sainsbury's is my happy place.

CallarMorvern · 31/01/2017 23:15

It's on my must visit list whenever I am at my parents, I unfortunately don't live near one and they don't deliver here.
I live in their jeans, stretchy but keep their shape so well. I love the three packs of strappy vest tops and bras. The shoes unfortunately aren't big enough for me, but DD bought some Ugg clones in the sale, they are pink and vile, but were £2 and are on their second winter still looking plush. DD has grown out of their kids wear now and I'm sad about that as they do some lovely things.

Crowdblundering · 31/01/2017 23:29

I saw that thread too and popped in today on my way home from work - was a bit disappointed tbh.

BUT I made a vow to myself to stop buying supermarket/Primark clothes when I turned 40.

CallarMorvern · 01/02/2017 08:38

I think the stores themselves do vary. There are 4 on my route to my Mums and one is far, far better than the others.

SnugglySnerd · 01/02/2017 08:46

Their jeans, leggings and pjs are fab. I bought a dress in there last year that was only £8 with the 25% off. I get compliments every time I wear it.
Kids and baby stuff is lovely and they even do ballet stuff for children much cheaper than dance shops.
Our bed linen is also from TU and it's lovely quality, easily as good as Debenhams or Next.

MinesaPinot · 01/02/2017 09:39

We've got a really good branch near to us and I love going in and having a rummage on their permanent sale rails. I've picked up several pieces which have been huge bargains, including a dress I wear for work which was a mighty £6 (and much admired by my always designer-clad boss!). Swimwear is good, as is their gym stuff, and I like their footwear as well. I'm very selective - some of the colours are a bit "Ladies of a Certain Age" for me - but by and large I'm always really happy with everything I've got from there. Like a lot of people, it's my Go To for basics at the moment rather than heading to Primark like I used to.

piefacerecords · 01/02/2017 10:46

I love their jeans and jeggings - they always fit really well and don't go baggy. I recently bought some black velvet-finish skinnies and I've been wearing them constantly, they are sooo comfy.

Not so mad on their other clothes tbh - the colours and patterns are a bit BHS.

Really good for basics though.

CaraAspen · 01/02/2017 11:41

Colour craziness. Awful. The shoes have that appalling cheap shoe smell. Yuch

MsJuniper · 01/02/2017 11:49

I'm another big Tu fan (literally big as a size 22) - I get more compliments on my clothes from Sainsbos than any others. Yes there are some monstrosities but there's almost always something I want.

DS has always had their kids stuff. Great bright colours, not too much character or gendered stuff.

And yy to the big pants :)

BagelGoesWalking · 01/02/2017 15:57

£14 straight cut jeans are great, have them in dark denim and black and in 2 sizes. One of the black has faded quite a lot but the other hasn't, which is weird. But excellent fit and length for me.

My local does seem to have as wide a range of nightdresses as they did before but still worth a look. I will definitely try their underwear after a glowing review here Smile

BagelGoesWalking · 01/02/2017 15:58

*doesn't have ...

DonaldFlump · 01/02/2017 16:17

The gym kit is really really good - flattering, pull-you-in lycra leggings and nice t-shirts that wash well.

The big winter cardies can be good and the men's loungey pj bottoms are v cosy, but I'm not totally sold on the ladieswear.

SilverHawk · 01/02/2017 17:14

Wow, I've just spotted a navy leather biker jacket for £95. The leather may be awful or it may be a real bargain!

bookworm14 · 01/02/2017 17:30

They're great for kids' basics. I get all DD's vests and sleepsuits there - good quality for the price, and nice designs.

JennyOnAPlate · 01/02/2017 17:41

I love their nightwear...comfiest pyjamas ever! Their school uniform is also really good quality and washes well.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 01/02/2017 17:42

Leather shoes and boots...my boots from a couple of years ago are still going well. This year they had leather chelsea boots in the sale, but not in my size :(
