Where on earth do you dry your hair?

Okay. So I'm American and while I love my adopted home, one thing that really really annoys me about this country is the lack of real plug sockets in bathrooms. (Honestly I could just as easily fill the kitchen sink with water and drop my hairdryer in it if I wanted to off myself... the "safety" issue is a bunch of bs... rant over).

Anyway. Where do you dry your hair?!?

I wash and dry mine every morning. And right now my hair dryer lives in the kitchen (yuck).

I desperately want to use the bathroom mirror but would have to run extension cords through the house.

Suggestions please! :-)

I have found my people!
I love living here, but my has this country issues with bathrooms!
Starting with the idea that carpet is suitable flooring boak , no mixer taps anywhere and then the spout is so close to the basin wall that you have to practically squash your hands under and then, to top it all off, no bloody sockets.
When we win the lottery I am going to build myself a huge, tiled palace with a million sockets, mixer taps and space for the washer and dryer. Grin

I can't believe that people still have carpet in the bathroom. Really? Even my mother got rid of it about 20 years ago so it surprises me.

And wholeheartedly yes to mixer taps. Did them as soon as I could. Also, so much safer for children, esp when they're smaller and you're teachinf them to wash hands on their own etc.

I am a heathen. I wash it, wrap it in a towel for 5 minutes, let it air dry. Sometimes while walking the 30 minutes in nearly sub-zero temperatures. My immune system is a monster!

Until I moved to the UK I had never filled a sink to wash my face. Why would you when you can just turn on a mixer tap at the correct temperature and splash your face?

I have a mixer tap and I still fill the sink. Splashing your face isn't washing, it's splashing!

And there are issues with UK bathrooms (carpets, wtf is that about?!) but at least British people can say the word 'toilet' without imploding with shame. Why is it that Americans can only coyly refer to a 'bathroom' or 'restroom' but go all Victorian prude rather than indicate they may need to empty bladder or bowel? It's not like they're a shy people in general.

'at least British people can say the word 'toilet''*

  • or 'W.C' or 'loo'...

.....before all the class obsessed bathroom-ites get on my case.

Wait - Mitzy - do you actually immerse your face to wash it? Like faceplant the sink? (I am learning SO MUCH from this thread!)
