Do you honestly care about what people think of your outfit?

I read someone post in an FB group that she won't purchase this certain jacket because there's a lot of fakes out there, and people won't think at first glance that her outfit is authentic. Just like there's so many fake LVs.

Which made me think because I don't really think about this, and certainly do not think other people actually wonder about what I am wearing.

Do people really care? Do you care about what other people think?

I really don't care, my current aim is to be comfortable. But being pregnant with SPD may have a lot to do with my current attitude.

I do tend to wear what I feel good in with not much thought to how anyone else will perceive it.

Trills · 25/01/2017 08:15

only stuff that's regarded as a status symbol is faked.

This is a very good point. And in order for it to be a status symbol, there has to be a significant number of people who would recognise one.

GetAHaircutCarl · 25/01/2017 08:18

I take a lot of care in my appearance.
I try to make put a nice version of myself out into the world. A version I like.

I'm sure it's not to everyone's tastes but so be it. I can't worry about that.

Myuser* I do not like big labels either, I don't mind them on trainers, and the little red tab on Levi's is kind of cute, but I wouldn't wear a t-shirt with a huge logo on or a sweatshirt (wouldn't wear one anyway) with one on. I really am not keen on MK bags, I don't know why but they just scream tacky to me. Some designer bags are so gorgeous I just wonder why on earth they'd chose a MK one! Where I currently live every other mum has one and I just think how unoriginal can you get! There is one exception to labels and for me that is make up.

BusterGonad · 25/01/2017 08:21

Not sure where the * came from?!?!

Bobochic · 25/01/2017 08:32

I could not care less what anyone thinks of my outfit! I have my own style and it's quite consistent and distinctive and suits my lifestyle. The only people I want to please are me, DP and DD.

Kathmandu12 · 25/01/2017 09:17

Oh I just thought of a logo I wear with pride - Dr. Martens.

I tend to notice at either end of the spectrum - if someone looks very dishevelled or dirty, or if they look impeccably turned out. Otherwise no, I don't tend to notice other people's dress much at all!

I am not very confident at dressing myself and usually aim for 'all covered up, appropriate for occasion, not unclean'. Not a high standard I grant you, but a lifetime of body issues will do that. Most if not all of my clothes come from the supermarket, as I can't see the point in spending more. I don't judge other people for doing so though unless it's £1300 on a chuffing handbag

neveradullmoment99 · 25/01/2017 22:02

I noticed someone at work today. The only reason was that her skirt was pretty short but she has amazing legs and she must me mid to late fifties. I was thinking next time i worry about a skirt being too short, i should not worry!!!! My legs are good not as good as hers though

BusterGonad · 26/01/2017 03:11

Never when I was working I had 'a best' work friend and I loved going into work all glamed up waiting to see if I could out do her! We both loved shirt a line mini skirts, preferably checked or tartan! Grin

BusterGonad · 26/01/2017 03:11

Short not shirt!

Zxyzoey31 · 26/01/2017 10:06

I admire people's style whatever it may be. It sort of makes me think, you go.
Moms being snooty about mum fashion makes me laugh a lot because it isn't a style of any sorts.
I make an effort with clothes and makeup because I enjoy it but I also value comfort a lot.
The only time I have been knowingly judged since finishing education was by a mum who literally sneered at me because I was in jeans and a fleece and wore this regularly. Not at all my usual style but I had a 3 year old and a 10month old who didn't sleep much. I still wore make up had good fitting jeans and was very slim so not at all a complete state! I still hate her for being such a mean girl like at school. It is easy to judge if you have a 6 year old and 4 year old and you have forgotten how tough young children can be.

SapphireSeptember · 26/01/2017 16:35

Yes and no, I like it when people compliment me on what I'm wearing, if they don't like what I'm wearing then tough. I have my own sense of style, some people will like it, some will hate it, some people will be indifferent. My clothes and jewellery are a mixture of supermarket, charity shop and online shopping and I like things that are unusual.

AmeliaJack · 26/01/2017 16:46

Bluntess if the woman staring at you had been attractive, slim and stylish what would you have thought about how she was looking at you? Would that have changed your perception of her staring at you? (Genuinely interested)

She might have been thinking "she looks like Julie from accounts I wonder if they are related"

She might have been thinking "where do I remember her from?"

She might have been thinking "what pretty hair I wonder if it's difficult to look after"

She might have been thinking " I like that colour of nail polish/lipstick"

There's no reason to think she was judging your look negatively or jealous or thinking very much about you at all.

Eolian · 26/01/2017 16:56

No. I don't care at all. I wear what I wear. Don't have any real interest in fashion, don't regularly buy new clothes, don't have expensive hair cuts, paint my nails maybe twice a year. The super-groomed, label-conscious look doesn't appeal to me at all and I find people who judge others harshly on their lack of style very shallow. I can't afford designer clothes anyway, but if I had lots of money I don't think I'd spend much of it at all on clothes.

specialsubject · 26/01/2017 18:29

I've never heard of many labels and wouldn't know how to tell a fake from a real item.

I think being covered in other people's names looks a bit silly - that teen boy thing of visible knickers covered in names is hilarious - but that's just me.

does mean my specs come from the bloke section of specsavers though, as the girl side is all pink, sparkles, dirt-trapping twiddles or logos. Yuk.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 26/01/2017 18:44

I saw a lady today wearing a pair of boots I've been watching on eBay.

I judged her to look amazing in them, so I bought them.

Other than that, I notice too short, too low cut, dirty. Not much else! And if anyone does fake Sainsbury's clothes, then I'd wear my Genuine Tu Clothing with the label hanging out. Grin
