Is there some sort of face product that evens out irregularities in ton/e but that isn't foundation?

I think I might be looking for something that doesn't exist, unless someone more knowledgeable (ie, most people :)) can inform me otherwise.

I don't want a foundation or a primer I don't think - I do wear them (Bobby Brown) but I feel quite 'made up' in them and tend to wear only for going out. I've tried bb creams in the past but without much success. Same with tinted moisturizer or products like Clarins flash balm.

I think I'm looking for something very easy and quick to apply every day - so no faffing about spreading evenly or blending in, something that evens out my skin tone. I have it in my head that there used to be a product that you put on and it sort of acclimatised to your skin colour so you didn't need to worry about choosing the right colour - but I might have totally made that up!

Can anyone suggest anything please?

I've just moved from Liz Earle sheer skin tint to Clinique moisture surge. Really like both, just couldn't get hold of the Liz Earle as easily as the Clinique at local boots.

This is fab, and sounds like the kind of thing you have in mind. You can apply it with a brush or a sponge but I just use my fingers
It's complexion smoother, half way between a cream and a powder.

Hi,
Was lurking - as you do Smile
I totally relate to wanting this miracle product. My poor face looks tired and in need of some TLC.

But I'll get to the point, if anyone was wanting to try the Erborian CC cream, their website is currently promoting a free 17ml with any other purchase. You need to register with them, then they send a personalised code.I purchased some of their Pink Perfect BB cream, which at £15 qualified me for the free CC cream. You also get 2 free samples at checkout and free delivery - if you're a new customer - EWELCOME. This worked with my personalised free CC cream code too.

CC cream from L'occitane , which is very light and just makes you look fresh, alive and like you had a good night sleep and lots of fresh air. It also has SPF 20.

I have been using Glycolic Acid cream on my face for over a year ( sounds harsh ) It's a natural exfoliant & it has transformed my skin, wrinkles are less, pores & blackheads are now zero, it evens skin tone.... I can go on & on... basically it's transformed the skin on my face.

This stuff... it really does work but you have to be patient for results ....

Neostrata body lotion plus ( its body lotion but it's perfectly fine for the face. I swear by it.

Happy to post a no makeup skin shot if you like : )

Clarins BB Skin Perfecting cream is easy to apply and blend: it's not a foundation, but covers well.

This is similar to the Estée Lauder tinted moisturiser but about 30% cheaper. Love it!

Just thought I'd give some quick feedback on the two products I bought :)

Not sure what to make of the HelenE - I've only used it once and I was rushing. It feels nice and light on the skin but don't think it was all that effective. I'll give it another go, this time using a brush.

The eborian cc cream is great. Comes out of the tube white but changes as you put it on. Easy to apply and I think it evens skin tone nicely.

Thanks again for all recommendations.

Estee Lauder Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator Brightening Face Serum is amazing and does just what you're after OP. Sadly it was discontinued last year! God knows why.

RosieRose can you post a link to the product you use? Can it be used around the eyes? My skin is young for my age but any lines i have are under my eyes.

Garnier Ultra Lift Transformer seems to do exactly what you're looking for, on me it automatically adjusts to my skin tone and evens out colour without faffing around. I found it by accident on special offer in Canada so stocked up about a year's worth!

I have spent the last 3 months trying various BB and CC creams and tinted moisturisers for the days - most days - when I want a little help rather than putting on the full war paint. The best of them IMO were made by Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown.

But the product for me that hands down is the absolute best is Mac Face and Body foundation. Please don't be put off by the fact it is called 'foundation'. It is as light and easier to use than a tinted moisturiser. It is runny and really easy to put on - and unlike all others you need to use your fingers to apply, not a brush, so it is really pfaff free! Use a small amount. Just rub and smear it, like a face cream. You can feel it thicken as it binds with the skin. It will give the lightest possible cover - perfect for taking out redness and irregularities and perfect if like me, you don't want to be able to see that you are wearing foundation. If you want another layer in certain areas, then wait a couple of minutes and repeat. It blends seamlessly, and doesn't flake. It is slightly dewy, and I sometimes put a tiny bit of powder on my forehead first.

It doesn't contain any SPF but my moisturiser does anyway so for me this is a plus point as my skin is quite fussy about SPFs.

But the thing I most love about it is that I can touch my face and it does not budge or rub off on my fingers. It contains something called a film former (it is a water based foundation). I am a face fiddler and always will be, so this is a huge plus for me!

Pop over to a Mac counter and get them to match your tone and get a sample to try.

I love this thread. I didn't know there was an LRP Effaclar BB cream - i bloody LOVE the Effaclar range, I'm off to order it!

FWIW though, I think the No7 City Light tinted moisturiser is pretty good - seems to be an attempt to get into the same niche as Clinique City Block (which I love). I've been wondering whether the No7 has been braking me out a teeny bit though - if there's an Effaclar equivalent then I trust that!

RosierRose - is it too late to take you up on your offer to post a make up free skin pic?! And did you mean that the product you use is the Neostrata one? Thank you.
