Earth stood hard as iron, my heart like a stone.

Morning Crepies - NU - hope all is well after your op.

Colly - I know exactly what you mean about a house full of teenagers - lovely but turning everything upside down at the same time. To top it all, DS is communing with Brian the Bucket - I hope this isn't going to be domino effect up to Christmas. I am going to concentrate on cleaning today, starting with the bathrooms and large quantities of bleach!

Lucky you Rudy :). I would NEVER go Christmas shopping with dp....
Walk was brisk :). Do feel like I've done half a day already!!!

bigTillyMint · 19/12/2016 08:56

Same here re Christmas shopping, BD. In fact, I don't think DH has done any Christmas shopping in 20 years Xmas Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 19/12/2016 08:59

Friend of mine texted yesterday to say that she was leaving her DH as she wanted "fun and freedom and to meet other men" as she has been married since her early 20s. Kids are 18, 16 and 14. I feel a bit sorry for her DH, as she gave up work when she got married, and has refused to get a job ever since (despite some fairly unsubtle hinting from him, that once children were out of primary, she should look to work at least part time and contribute financially). I am wondering what she is going to live on now, as she said she will be renting a flat nearby (the kids are staying with him - so much for her insisting on "being there for them when they got home from school"). Great timing too - could she not have waited until the new year? There has been no big row or falling out, she just finds him "boring" and wants "some excitement before she is too old." She claims there is no-one else. I am less convinced.

In other mad friend news, an older friend, whose unfaithful wife died suddenly a few years ago (in the arms of her current lover), revealed that he buys himself a gift from her every Christmas, wraps it, puts it under the tree and opens it on Christmas morning. He also buys her a gift from him, but it wasn't clear who opens this.

I feel quite dull and normal sometimes.

Rosebag · 19/12/2016 09:10

Molly I know exactly what you mean....having an empt(ier) house does have it's compensations, and even though we miss them, I'm sure none of us welcomes the noise, smells, arguments and mess when they come back.

herbs good on all of you re the visit to DMIL. Mini herbs has been a star too. Flowers

I think there is above average usage of Brian amongst the Crepe. Is this because of drink related excesses, or eating dodgy kebabs or some godawful bug? I hope it doesn't spread, Hatty.

NU How are you doing?

Lolling around is excellent....i do plenty of it myself. Not yesterday, however with a lovely mini MU with MrsS and the Schadenfreulines at the theatre, whom I thank for making the trip out to the back of beyond to see our Xmas show. Sorry about the food...DH and I are livid and will be making a complaint... Xmas Hmm Xmas Angry. It was waaaaay below par. I then had to race off to the pub for the choir end of era drinks....it's closing it's doors for the last time (I left quite a while ago under a bit of a cloud as Crepeys will remember). Maestro The Terrible has had a heart attack...poor woman Shock She's younger than me....

The DC are off to Bicester Village for the day. I am contemplating Rigby and Pellar....

bigTillyMint · 19/12/2016 09:12

MrsS, I reckon there is definitely someone else involved.
But also, you don't know how terrible things are behind closed doors. A friend of ours was shocked (understatement!) when he found out that his best mate of 50 years had murdered his wife - they hadn't realised how controlling the mate of 50 years was.

MrsWobble3 · 19/12/2016 09:14

Molly, I know exactly what you mean - you can't wait for them to come home and then you look forward to getting your house back when they go. My dds did a lot of baking yesterday - all fantastic but we now have no butter left in the house which is a bit of a nuisance. But I'm still glad they're home.

Collymollypuff · 19/12/2016 09:41

Thanks for all the empathy. I may have to moan some more over the festive period.

Can I just say: I fell in love with Alana first episode, and yes, she is a dead ringer for GGG, whom we have now outed. I am so glad she won - she is adorable. She can cook my cupcakes any day of the week.

BeachysSnowyWellieBoots · 19/12/2016 10:06

I must admit, I can't see the likeness myself....

I'm on my way to London with all three dc... we decided we're too noisy to sit in the quiet carriage! We shall be traipsing around, ice skating later at Somerset House, eating pizza and seeing lights...

Dd2 has already kicked off as 'no one made her a cup of tea this morning' so demanded a visit to the station cafe! It's going to be gruelling Grin

Collymollypuff · 19/12/2016 10:12

Good luck, Beachy! Rather you than me. Grin

I've got James from DynoRod here at the moment, if anyone wants to pop round...

OP posts:
Collymollypuff · 19/12/2016 11:52

James has agreed to recommend that our lead water pipe (from street to property) be replaced since it's been leaking like a colander. Two steps forward on the house renovation front.

Rosebag · 19/12/2016 12:41

molly Is he as hot as those Silver bike rider handy men that monty told us about? Xmas Grin

beachy you are brave!! Is the rail line actually running?

Well ladies I have just spent the DCs inheritance at Rigby and Pellar and I am SO bloody relieved to be allowed to go up a back size and down in the cup. Having been garrotted to within an inch of my miserable life by Bravissimo to whom I have been a very loyal devotee and still like, I think I may just have to take a holiday at R&P for a few years. Stupid prices, but oh! the comfort, oh! the lack of red welts on my skin, oh! the sexy prettiness, oh! the delightful customer service but oh! the cost too Xmas Grin

And now I am in a delightful old fashioned restaurant hoping against hope to get a glance of the celebrated Beatle who frequents these parts.... and drinks coffee in this establishment.....I am SO moving to NW8.

Lalsy · 19/12/2016 12:52

Well, crepes, I had another family do yesterday and as I will be away for Christmas with limited luggage, I opened my SS. And am delighted! Snd I can take it with me! Thank you so much whoever you are - it gave me an unusual air of mystery and glamour in front of my ILs yesterday too Grin.

Herbs, the hospice sounds wonderful and glad it all went ok. I was in Eton a couple of weeks ago. Makes me feel like behaving very very badly.

Rose, glad you have found bra heaven.

Colby, I agree, I love seeing dd and we have a lot of fun together. But we have a 2.5 bed house which dh and I could fill quite happily. Our lives have changed since she left, of course they have, and although I miss her, there are some things - like peace and order - that I don't miss. So upturning that isn't all joyful.

Crem, pah and bah, that's very poor.

Have clocked d n s.....

Blackduck · 19/12/2016 12:52

Blimey Rose Shockat the cost of them..... although a bra that doesn't dig in would be nice.....

Lalsy · 19/12/2016 12:53

Colly, sorry about your new persona as a naff gents clothing gadget Blush

Blackduck · 19/12/2016 12:54

Are you up for d'n's?

motherinferior · 19/12/2016 13:01

I had a Rigby and Peller phase at one point, before coming to my senses.

Rabbi Lionel Blue has died which makes me very sad.Sad

motherinferior · 19/12/2016 13:02

I meant financial senses, Rose!Blush

Lalsy · 19/12/2016 13:17

Me? (d n s), I would love to, will have to see on the day tho I think - is that OK? It depends how teen wrangling goes this week.

Rosebag · 19/12/2016 13:40

I wouldn't worry Mi. I think I'm bloody nuts as well, but calculating the cost per wear, it makes sense particularly as I'm avoiding the GBH I get from my Panache instruments of torture....

I texted DH to warn him of the impending bank forclosure and he just texted back that he was looking forward to seeing me in them...so no recriminations there....he he

motherinferior · 19/12/2016 13:48

Yes, it's curious how a lingerie overdraft is overlooked...

Rosebag · 19/12/2016 13:50

Girl Power Xmas Grin

Rosebag · 19/12/2016 13:57

And to add to today's feel good factor....I bought a dress at White Stuff recently in which my chest looked Iike a sack of spuds owing to the old bras and a higher neck that I usually wear...but took the dress with me to R&P today, in a last ditch attempt not to have to return it. And hey presto....it looks soooo much better with the new bra. so I'm keeping it

hattymattie · 19/12/2016 14:45

Rose - did you get Primadonna? - I bought one of those and it was the most I ever spent on a bra but I love it and it fits perfectly, I feel it does maintain my shape.

DS has stopped vomiting thankfully. I think it's one of those 24 hour bugs. He sent me out for Vick as he thinks he cannot possibly recover if he has not had his inhalation session, regardless of what the illness is.

Mrs S - when my friend left her husband telling everybody it was simply because he was boring - it transpired there was an affair going on. I think the affair was what caused her to leave otherwise she'd have just kept on with her marriage.

DD1 has just ordered a Mooncup from Amazon after extensive research on MN. She's supposed to be writing a law essay.
