Hair disaster - please advise

I have black hair (a little grey).
I normally have a black gloss/tint.
I discussed with my hairdresser, i'd like a subtle blue/black possibly just on the ends. We agreed not to use bleach (although she pointed out the results would be subtle without). I was fairly happy with the result although you couldn't see much (if any blue) but it looked dark and glossy.
This morning, it's obviously mid brown on the ends (and a bit ginger in sunlight!).

I'm going to call in the morning. On my receipt, I have been charged for a 'toner' as well as a tint, googled this and says normally used when dying blonde hair. So not sure should have been used on my hair?

Please can anyone advise, feel very upset.

Worried hair has been damaged. Also don't really have the time to go back for any correction and also hate the thought of confrontation and it cost £100!

DH of course thinks its hysterical!

I hadn't washed it when I took that photo. Which means she must have seen the colour when she was blow drying it!

Also we spoke, twice about how I did not want my hair bleached.

What does she need to do to fix it? I wish I did't have to go back there. I wish I'd just had my normal black :(

Obviously I need to find anew salon now too. So unprofessional and disappointing service.

Thankfully not blonde!

Your hair looks blonde ? Is that just a bad pic ?

As others have said impossible to go lighter without actually lightening the hair so I think it's possible the ends were lightened so the blue would take since you specifically asked them not to do this you are right to complain

In itself not hard to sort out Get a decent shampoo / conditioner / treatment for dry hair

Pomegranatepompom · 11/12/2016 22:31

Must be a bad pic, DH assures me it's not blonde.

I already use Aveda damage remedy, I'll see if anything else is recommended.

Thanks for all the advice, I feel a bit more prepared now for when I go in.
And I'll ask her directly if she used bleach (which she must have).

This is like that blue/white dress thing to me, nothing about your hair looks black to me in that photo! It looks an ashy blonde with gingery ends, not black at all. Could you post another pic?

You should definitely go back though, it's a lot of money and you should go home happy. I went back once when my highlights were a disaster and it was awkward at first but they conceded and fixed it for free.

clumsyduck · 11/12/2016 22:34

Youl be able to have a dark colour put over the lot to get it looking back how you want it but if the ends were bleached they may still look a bit lighter after a few washes I think ( Iv gone brown over blonde highlights before more than once and this is what always happens to me ) I'm not an expert though but I don't think it looks to bad . Iv brought my hair back from many bleaching disasters over the years Grin

Pomegranatepompom · 11/12/2016 22:35

I do see what you mean though, I'm going to wake DH up. Although my friend saw it too and she didn't mention any blonde (fingers crossed - I will cry if its even worse).

Just go back and get a blue black tint all over and get them to trim the ends

Pomegranatepompom · 11/12/2016 22:40

ok DH was very tolerant.

Can't post pic as too identifying!

But it's definitely black with about 2 inches of brown/ginger.

Thank you Plannedshock and everyone else.

I will ask them to do that.

I'm really confused. Your hair is ash blond in the picture??

Pomegranatepompom · 11/12/2016 22:56

I think it's just the light. Definitely black - well in places Shock

Pomegranatepompom · 11/12/2016 23:04

Just looked on phone and the photo looks a totally different colour on my phone!

Ohitdo · 11/12/2016 23:08

The first pic is definitely mousey blonde, no black whatsoever and nothing like your second photo!

Pomegranatepompom · 11/12/2016 23:10

2nd photo washed and wavy. Not sure why 1st photo looks different - apologies for confusion. Unfortunately end are still ginger/brown in both :(

OP posts:
dontpokethebear · 11/12/2016 23:20

CAn you get a pic like the second one, but with the bleached bits in?

Pomegranatepompom · 11/12/2016 23:23

i can't seem to get the right angle !
It's definitely brown though :(

Pomegranatepompom · 11/12/2016 23:25

Definitely looking more black in those photos and looking more likely she put bleach on the ends.
What colour was the actual stuff she put on your hair?
A blue/black dye would look really dark when it was on and a bleach would rather be light blue or white?
Did she rinse it off then apply another colour at the basins.?

Pomegranatepompom · 12/12/2016 06:49

This might look clearer.

No, she did the usual painting on with a brush and twisting through to the ends. Did seem to be left on for longer. The girl who washes hair, after conditioning she put something on and said we'all leave this on for 5 mins - I just thought was mire conditioner !

wendytorrence · 12/12/2016 08:21

Yeah maybe was a toner at the end then.
Good luck going back today.
From a hairdressers point of view I would rather a client come back if they weren't happy (although I'm 100% sure I wouldn't let someone walk out of the salon with something they clearly didn't ask for!)

Pomegranatepompom · 12/12/2016 08:54

Thanks Wendy. Feel bit reassured if think haurvwont be damaged !
