Has anyone ever put real UGGs in the washing machine?

As title.

Mine are about 6 years old so owe me nothing I don't really wear them anymore but did the other day and ended up getting them muddy. They are now filthy along the toe area.

I'm considering putting them in the washing machine....but scared they'll come out ruined. Has anyone done this? If so how did they turn out?

Took ages to dry but came out fine.

I do it all the time. on a wool wash, they they are like born again

Don't, however, do a batch of mixed colours...

I dry them with tonic bottles inside for a bit until they can stand up on their own - it can take 2/3 days

So if I put them in, on their own on a wool wash and allow them to dry with bottles in to keep the shape they should be fine?

Would they be okay put next to the radiator to dry a bit quicker do you think?

Small bit of specially for wool detergent and do it on a low temperature (wool cycle). If you are very worried put each boot into an old pillow case and tie up the necks.

Yes, loads.

They come out fine. Not good as new, but better than they went in iyswim. I do them on a wool was with a wool detergent. I like to do them on a warm sunny day then I can dry them outside though. Saves days of drying.

Oh and I pack them with towels to keep their shape at first, drys faster than using a bottle th hold them in shape.

Woolite here, and I do dry them in bright sun or next to the radiator. It makes them go a bit crispy but they soften up with wear quite quickly. When they're almost dry I turn them upside down on top of the radiator.

I did it by accident to just one boot once. It changed the colour slightly so I had to wash the other one to match.

Yes loads ... stuff with newspaper as they dry and dry away from direct heat .. this is vital as touching heat will damage but not drying quick enough will cause them to smell and discolour .. I'm a ex dry cleaner by the way and have lots of experience in washing.. yes yes to will wash but do and extra spin if they are dripping wet . Also smooth out the material if there are drum marks on after the wash before you dry . They will lose a bit if oomph but will be clean !

I've done it loads of times before and they have came out fine but I did a black pair once and they were completely ruined. The heel cup had warped and the colour had faded unevenly and stitching came away. They were new ish too. My old ones fair so much better I don't know where I went wrong.

Detergent is important . I always vanish the works marks but wash in woolite or similar . Bio has bleach in and powders are harsh

I wonder if dark colours just cant take the washing machine? My greys and my chestnuts have always been fine.

You can only wash classics , the others will not like being washed !

How did they get on?

Celtic Sheepkin do a special washing liquid for Sheepkin Boots. It smells of Tea Tree oil and stops the boots from going hard and carboard-y.

That's good then countrygirl ! I've washed all my real Uggs loads of times....started with one pair that were so far gone it didn't really matter if washing them didn't work because they were going to have get binned anyway. They came out with a completely new lease of life, and that gave me the confidence to wash other ones that were a bit grubby, but not quite at deaths door. I've found stuffing them with newspaper and leaving them in the airing cupboard for a couple of days is the best way to dry them. Then I give them a good brush and spray them with protector. I think my chestnut ones have faded a bit, but I doubt anyone else would notice, and I don't really care.

Oooh! I'm going to give my Ugg slippers a wash tonight then. they fucking stink

My slippers are currently on a 30 degree wool cycle with some Fairy non bio. I'm not holding out much hope but to be honest they're pretty rank and I need new ones anyway so
