That tight glowy poreless Melania/Kardashian skin... how on earth do you get it?

They look other-worldly (plastic?). Possibly not everyone's cup of tea, but I wouldn't mind just a little more 'luxe' to my look...how do they get that effect?!

It's microdermabrasion, laser treatment, collagen facials, fillers, heavy make up, then photoshop.

Who has time for all of that?!

supermumtotherescue · 17/11/2016 06:32

Perfect cleansing from a young age, taking incredible care of your skin always; not over-moisturising, professional skin peels or at home AHA, creams and foundations that fill and smooth pores, Botox and fillers - then photoshop!

Twogoats · 17/11/2016 08:20

What's the psychology behind it? As in why do people like to see skin like that? Is our brain tricking us into thinking it's healthy?

Larastheme · 17/11/2016 09:24

Twogots
The sad reality is , most celebs don't admit it and just say its makeup and healthy eating,
And people specially teens and early 20s fall for that makeup trick and start buying all the makeup advertised by those celebs,
my dermatologist told me the number of patients suffering from acne has doubled since trying to emulate Kim make up, and taking her advice in countouring with heavy creams, using sponge to apply makeup and the biggest no no of all is sleeping in makeup to 'set it in' ! It's crazy!

Yes. 'I drink 85 litres of water a day and eat clean'. Bullshit. Hmm

Trumdrum · 17/11/2016 11:29

Good to hear I am not missing a trick then, thought it might be oil pulling and turmeric...

My 21 y.o DD has that look. Partly youth and naturally great skin but also shedloads of makeup painstakingly applied. Primers, concealers, contouring, foundation, buffing, blending, powder.

plumstone · 17/11/2016 12:58

A lot of time, effort and money - I have spent all of these and my skin is in pretty good nick - however don't wear that much make up, what I wear is well applied and I have spent a lot of time researching this - I treat it like a hobby!!!

Years ago a Friend met an A list email star on holiday on the beach - their kids started playing and they ended up spending a lot of time together over the course of the week. This women, never went in the sun, reapplied sunscreen religiously, only drank water and went to bed every night at about 8am - she said it was for work as she was about to start the promo trail for her next film and said it was part of her job to look like the person people expected - this was the days before contouring etc. She is IMO naturally beautiful however that is some job description!!

plumstone · 17/11/2016 12:59

The biggest difference is fraxel lazering - I stopped before I got completely clear skin ( I like some of my freckles) but the difference was amazing - it is the most painful thing I have ever done - boiling hot elastic band being pinged over your face for about 10-15 mins - worth it but I will stick to sun block and hat from now on!!!!

margaritasbythesea · 17/11/2016 13:31

At least now I know it is unattainable for me!

RingOfFire79 · 17/11/2016 14:40

RonaldMcdonald I have acne scarring and was thinking about going down the laser route - may I ask what you ended up getting and where?

DowntonDiva · 17/11/2016 14:48

FaceTune! Khloe Kardashian has admitted using it for her social media pictures. I had a play around, it has a smoothing feature which makes you look 18.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 17/11/2016 14:57

In the real world and if you don't have the budget of a Kardashian Hmm , I found a great product in the Body Shop called Wonderblur.
If you can master the knack of applying it like a primer (they showed me in the shop), it does make pores vanish and does what it says on the tin, blurs any imperfections.
I don't have celebrity skin, but it's definitely an improvement. Grin

WalterWhitesNipple · 17/11/2016 15:27

Google celebrity's makeup close up. It's literally caked on their face.

QuimReaper · 17/11/2016 15:44

supermum what's wrong with over-moisturising?

ILoveAGoodBrusselSprout · 17/11/2016 15:53

I'm VERY low maintenance and couldn't possibly be arsed with contouring, buffing, etc. However, after recently looking (and I mean REALLY looking) at myself in the mirror and being horrified, I started to make more effort - just a little.

I bought a new foundation brush - a toothbrush type brush (from Amazon) and it has given my foundation (and even my tinted moisturiser) an airbrushed look.

I don't look like Kim Kardashian, but thats ok, honestly! I just look like me, only a little better.

bummymummy77 · 17/11/2016 16:31

Kate Blancett used to go to the same baby group as me and her skin was like an angel's arse cheeks. I know because I spent each one open mouthed staring at her.

Liiinoo · 17/11/2016 16:32

A second vote for the toothbrush brushes. Used slightly damp to blend and buff foundation or cream blushes/highlighters they really do give a smooth polished look.

I bought a set on Amazon for about £15.00 but found I don't use most of them, just a large one for most of my face and a smaller one for getting into nose crease etc. I find them a bit heavy for eye make up or powders.

margaritasbythesea · 17/11/2016 17:27

Linky to the miracle toothbrush?

theclick · 17/11/2016 17:42

MELANIA?

specialsubject · 17/11/2016 17:49

inch thick beige coating, the bovine expression of a model (smiles make wrinkles), photoshop, staples behind the ears, botox. That kind of thing.

Liiinoo · 17/11/2016 18:06

Toothbrush style make up brush link.

Bluntness100 · 17/11/2016 18:13

Melania is filmed live, sky news, the BBC or Reuters ain't photoshopping her, so it's not photoshop. The kardashians are often captured by the paps and the public , and they ain't photoshopping their pics or videos to make them look better either. Sure they photo shop their own photos, but when uou see anything unvetted by a third party like this ( and I don't mean magazine shoots) then it's what they look like.

margaritasbythesea · 17/11/2016 18:42

Thanks liinoo
