Extremely warm parka

Thinking of buying this - does anyone have any reviews of it or any alternative suggestions?

I really want something that is super warm, even on the coldest days. Has to cover bum, be waterproof and have hood. Neutral dark or warm colour.

Didriksons parkas best I've had for waterproof warmth. When it's stupid cold,I wear my Uniqlo lightweight down under it and it's held up in -9 cold weather.

For dry cold, North Face Metro parka has got me through February biting cold in New York - worn just over dress/tights, no other layering up needed. Not waterproof though. You can get them in extra long length too - like being coddled in a duvet. Super comfy, super warm. Had mine for 9 years, wash in machine and dry in tumble with tennis balls in to keep its loft bouncy and comes up like new. Expensive but worth every penny if you feel the cold.

Following as I have been looking for a replacement for one I bought from tog24 about 7 years ago! It is light to wear yet extremely warm but the cuffs are full of holes and it's an old wreck now!

North face aren't as good as they used to be.

I really rate merrell, I have the isadore (and the oslo boots-both from recommendations on here!) Live in Scotland and have never regretted a penny of the money spent on them and would buy from them again in a second. Don't know the latest names of the parkas but a good place to have a look

Another vote for Didriksons. Kept me warm when I visited Iceland last winter!

I have a 66 North parka it's an Icelandic outdoor brand. Kept me warm in Scandinavia, the Baltics and Iceland in winter.

Yeah, the Metropolis parka is great, I've had mine for ages (but yes, not waterproof).

Their Arctic parka is similar but waterproof, though it's so warm that I only get mine out in the absolute depths of winter.

DAMN I now want one of the 66 North ones. They look like a mobile duvet. You could probably live in one.

I like the look of the Didrikson's, but I don't want to wear something else under it, want it to be warm enough on its own. I bought DS(4) a Didrikson's parka this year instead of Columbia and he was complaining of being cold at the park.

The Metropolis looks excellent but need waterproof. The Arctic one looks amazing but £350!!!!! Ouch!!!!!!!!

I don't know what has happened to the price of stuff recently. The Benetton down jacket that I am replacing, it was several years old but I'm sure only cost about £75 at the time 😕

What about Rab coats? I still have my 15 year old down one and it's super toasty... cost about £100 back then, don't know how much they are now but a great quality coat.

Meringue33 you can get cheaper ones. Mine was less than £200 in the sales.

I've just bought this. I'm one of those people who is always cold. This jacket is very warm, I was nearly sweating wearing it in the house.

I have a North Face parka in khaki and have been pleased with it. Covers my bum,warm,waterproof and so far has worn well (but only 1 winter down!). Might be worth a look.

I bought the North Face Artic one for Norway last year and it kept me warm at -13 (with jumper & thermal vest under).

A shame I've lost weight in a way as it's big on me now.

Oh, and I was recommended Canada Goose, but that makes the Artic look cheap.

Keeps me toasty though I wear a thermal under it when really cold

I sold my North Face Arctic parka because it was TOO hot....the Didriksons is toasty warm...I wore the down under it when it was FREEZING in Berlin and I was walking everywhere but it's always been great in 'normal' UK winter if that makes sense.
