Do you dress to look sexy, smart, pretty, attractive ?

What's the overall aim or look you go for ?
You know when you meet some people and they've more or less hot exactly what you've got on but somehow they always look, girlie, pretty, just nice.
Somehow no matter what I wear I just don't :-(

I recently bought a babyliss big curl wand which has literally changed my life. A quick 5 mins blow dry in the morning and i have fabulous "Salon" hair. If you have nice hair..doesnt matter what you wear as im always too busy being impressed by whats on your head than what you are wearing below!!

MrsCampbellBlack · 21/10/2016 19:55

I try to look chic/glam.

To be honest I look awfully butch in a biker jacket - they just don't work on me. I have realised I look best in a collar-less leather jacket in a colour other than black.

I am not interested in trying to look sexy anymore - I dress more for women than men.

Passmethecrisps · 21/10/2016 19:56

I know exactly what you mean op.

I have a look in mind but I do 't quite feel that I totally work it. There is always something missing - the shoes or the statement necklace.

Work is relatively easy as I do rock a dress suit. Dead easy, zero thought and minimal finishing touches to make to look done.

Can't really do that down the local on a Sunday lunchtime though

CookieDoughKid · 21/10/2016 19:56

Black is terribly aging IMO. Unless you have your black outfit totally sharp and on point

J0kersSmile · 21/10/2016 20:00

I dress differently all the time.

Sometimes I like white tshirts and jeans, I love wearing summer dresses and dresses in autumn/winter with tights and boots which I suppose is feminine. I'm normally over dressed tbh but I like being over dressed.

puglife15 · 21/10/2016 20:01

I aim for cool, a bit edgy, approachable/safe mid 30s hipster when I make an effort, but mostly default to skinnies and boring loose top - plus my hair right now is 100% Mum.

Graceflorrick · 21/10/2016 20:03

I aim to look polished and well put together.

yesterdaysunshine · 21/10/2016 20:04

To be honest at the moment it's whatever fits. I'm shockingly fat and I am desperate to sort it - until I see chocolate Hmm

Any ideas for what might suit a short rotund person?

wibblewobble8 · 21/10/2016 20:07

You are the same size/height as me op :D even same size 10 target! some days im smart, others dressed up a bit (or so id like to think) and other days i look like a homeless tramp.

Believeitornot · 21/10/2016 20:09

I go for smart and a bit sexy for work. Not cleavage or short skirts but well fitted tailored clothes. Minimal make up but enough to hide the flaws.

Once I'm home, I stick a onsie on 😬

roundandroundthehouses · 21/10/2016 20:12

At home, I dress to be comfortable. Outside of home, I dress to look appropriate for the situation I'm in (i.e. vaguely like other people doing the same thing). Not interested enough in clothes to aim for my own individual style, although I'd like to be able to do that.

ClaudiaJean2016 · 21/10/2016 20:14

I always go for smart and comfortable. I don't suit overtly 'pretty' clothes and have never had 'sexy' in mind specifically when picking an outfit, but I think smart clothes can look very sexy.

rightknockered · 21/10/2016 20:16

I dress to be edgy, and what ever is appropriate for the environment I'm in.
At work, I don't have a dress code, so dress in a way that is casual, with a slight edge, but not sexy
On a date, I like sexy
On the pull, again sexy
(or at least I try)
At weekends, it depends on what I'm doing. Comfort if working, sexy if on a date/on the pull
I like to try to look attractive in a way that satisfies me on all occasions. Looking attractive is not the same as being conventionally beautiful imo

Buttwing · 21/10/2016 20:18

On the rare occasion I go out with dp I will do sexy, but edgy sexy not loads on show. My legs are my best feature (so I've been told!) so I will do a short skirt but balance it with a long sleeved slouchy top.
In the day time I'm more trendy, a bit edgy and pretty casual. I love the kind of Jo Wood/ Kate moss look and I dress quite similarly.

Eolian · 21/10/2016 20:19

I dress to look vaguely presentable Grin. I'm just not that interested in clothes tbh. I mean, I wear colours and shapes that suit me and I dress appropriately for the occasion, but I wouldn't say I have a particular style. I'm one of the legion of middle-aged women in a vaguely White Stuff, Crew Clothing, Boden kind of wardrobe. And I'm perfectly happy with that tbh.

FuckThatToOneSide · 21/10/2016 20:30

I woukd never admit this irl but I yearn to look high-end / classy a la Kate Middletown maybe. However, I think that, if I'm honest with myself, I have the wrong (natural) hair colour, body type and accent for it Sad. I recently caught a glimpse of myself when I was dressed up for something; I have giant norks, which are noticeable even when completely covered up and am on the tall side which tends to make what-I-think-are-sensible-length skirts look a bit short. I don't think I was achieving classy really. Add my fairly strong regional accent and I don't think anyone will be mistaking me for Kate Middleton any time soon Grin.

FuckThatToOneSide · 21/10/2016 20:31

Fucking hell - look at those typos Blush! I haven't even had anything alcoholic to drink!

JoJoSM2 · 21/10/2016 20:32

5'9 and size 12 is a very good-looking combination :) Perhaps you just need to find clothes that flatter your body shape? I'm 5'11, currently size 16 14 and I think I dress well - but I am very particular about the shapes I wear (necklines, trouser legs, length and fit of things etc). Going for good qulity stuff also helps - it's difficult to feel awful in a well-fitted silk or cashmere numbers ;)

itsonlysubterfuge · 21/10/2016 20:36

I dress for comfort and sometimes modesty. I don't like my skin being on display. I also don't like wearing tight clothes and having my fat rolls really obvious. I feel they need to be covered.

Muser54321 · 21/10/2016 20:37

Stylish, with a quirk. I don't worry about looking feminine.. That just falls in to place if your clothes flatter you.

MarshaBrady · 21/10/2016 20:44

I dress for comfort (as in nothing too constrictive, wear ankle boots rather than heels at work), stylish and a tiny bit of edge (so small it's more a slight attitude more than anything).

I've never really dressed to look sexy, but I think that's my body shape too, which suits a certain style of dressing.

OCSockOrphanage · 21/10/2016 20:52

I aim to look photographable. It doesn't matter that I am old. Each day's clothes (not often "an outfit") is put together so the colours and shapes work in proportion. Considered is my aim. I am not trying to seduce your husband, or steal your client. I dress for my own pleasure and as I like clothes and work at staying fit, I hope the end result is clever.

Ifihadmytimeagain · 21/10/2016 21:11

smart and stylish for work.
Sexy if Im going out at night/have a date
cool/trendy during the day/weekends
relaxed (but glam) at home!
I cant imagine ever wanting to look pretty though - its just not me. Beautiful/striking yes.

SweetPeaPods · 21/10/2016 21:14

OP I completely know what you mean.
From joggers to a dress to jeans I never look smart or trendy.
I think expensive clothes look better generally and I don't have that budget.
I don't have much time so generally chuck hair up and out door where as I would look better if I had a blow dry and perfect make up!
