You have 8 pairs of shoes. What are they?

Our shoe storage is ridiculous so I've decided to try and limit myself to one half of the shoe cabinet, which takes 8 pairs of winter shoes. Boots don't fit in there so I also have a pair of Clarks long black boots with a chunky heel, and a pair of brown biker boots ditto Clarks ditto chunky heel. I also have trainers (but they are muddy and not stylish at all so wear them only for running/exercise/Guides) and walking boots.

So if you could only have 8 pairs of shoes, what would they be? For weekends, work, and going out?

In my case I work in an office but not too formal, weekends mainly consist of running around after the DCs park/soft play/shops and going out is once in a blue moon and usually with mummy friends, and in winter mainly slightly nice dress with opaques and black boots anyway.

And I like fun shoes, unfortunately!

Oh
Wellies
Merrell trainer things
Walking trainers
Proper winter boots
Flip flops
Canvas pumps.

Stepaway I find my feet get uncomfortable when I wear the same pair day in day out. I have two Camper Peu pairs so at a minimum I need to rotate them!

Excluding boots you mentioned, muddy trainers and walking boots

  1. Ballet pumps / flats
  2. Converse or equivalent
  3. Brogues
  4. Plain smart court type thing (interview/funeral suitable)
  5. Ankle boots
  6. Pair of fun/bright heels
  7. Summer sandals heeled / wedges
  8. Summer sandals - flat

1 brown calf length JR cowboy boots
1 tan JR cowboy ankle boots
1 Rhinestone JR cowboy boots.
1 Pair Harry Hall jodpur boots for walking and riding (worn with chaps in wet weather).
1 Pair fit flop mules as slippers
1 Pair fit flops for summer.
Plus 40 pairs of assorted shoes I never wear in the attic.

In order of importance:
I pair walking boots - best I can afford
I pair basic wellies
2 pairs sketchers (? Sp?) go walk trainers- super comfy and support my weird feet
2 pairs walking sandals ( Keanes)
2 pairs flat shoes for office
The End.

Drspouse: I find that shoes tend to hurt (and tear up my skin) if I don't wear them all the time. Even shoes I've had for years (so definitely broken in) do this when I haven't worn them for a while. It's frustrating.

So I just go with wearing a single pair of shoes regularly and changing seasonally. When one pair wears out I have to replace them and that's a nightmare.

Weirdly, I actually like shoes but they do not like me!

Clarks comfy shoes for work
Black ankle boots
Grey Toms
White Canvas Trainers
2 X going out heels
Slippers!
& Plain black flats.

Nice but simple these days!

If we're excluding basic trainers and too big to fit in the rack boots, then from my current collection:

  1. Black flat DMs
  2. Pale pink brogues
  3. Black court shoes
  4. UGG wedge sandals - cream, so go with most summer stuff
  5. Irregular choice Speak Easy
  6. Nude courts
  7. Irregular choice patsy (in shades of blue so go with lots)
  8. Red platform peep toes
ViolettaValery · 14/10/2016 14:48

Drspouse I couldn't live without the nude flats! Three main ways I wear them:

Winter work outfits: black opaques+magic black Whistles jersey skirt+some decent black work top e.g. Oasis or Phase Eight. OR exactly the same outfit but all in navy rather than black - I always have either a nude/pink scarf or matching vest peeping out so there is something to kind of answer the colour at the other end of the body.

Spring/Summer work outfits: all pale colours head to toe, e.g. cream/beige pencil skirt, creamy pinky patterned top plus the flats. No tights necessarily, or just sheers. It's true I have to feel at my fighting weight and reasonably well groomed to feel good like this because all-pale is quite exposing.

Casual: with just about any jeans based outfit they are great.

Can't think of a con to be honest. The patent is even wipe clean so they don't look grubby and they've been so heavily used. I do wish I had a slightly less dated shape because mine are standard round-toe ballet with bow, but I have big feet so am basically stuck until Clarks decide to make them.

I definitely have a red-shaped shoe hole of some kind...
