Do you always wear heels on a big night out?

I don't go out very often but now I've got to go out in London to the roof top gardens.

I've googled and it looks cold it's going to be November can I wear black pumps with skinny jeans and a strappy top and a big coat

I'm nearly 40 and medium build and height.

I'm going to have to do more with my hair than a messy bun aren't I?

poster KnitFastDieWarm where do you get your sparkly flats from?

3Eggses · 06/10/2016 06:04

Are you going to the restaurant, club or both? The gardens themselves are optional. If you go to the restaurant they'll let you downstairs for a wander provided there's nothing exclusive going on. The club is on the same level as the gardens I think. You won't be stuck outside all night.

I don't ever wear heels because my feet reject them. I'm a Londoner. I've been to the roof gardens. You'll be fine in flats.

RebelandaStunner · 06/10/2016 08:04

Always wear heels to go out, I like to look tall.
99â„… It's boots with heels. I've never worn heels too high.
I'm not particularly dressy usually black jeans, top and jacket but would feel wrong in flats/converse unless going to a quiz night.
Our main events are gigs/live music places so I can see better in heels. Smile

Louisajohnson224 · 06/10/2016 08:18

Nope never ..in the autumn /winter it will be ankle boots with a tiny (and I mean 1/2 inch heel) or even flat boots with tights.
I'm already 5ft 7 so don't need any more height.

lasttimeround · 06/10/2016 09:02

London is much less dressy. Lots of women wear flats/boots basically shoes you can commute in. Also people go out from work so don't get changed at home in between. Wear heels if you want but otherwise no need

Lottapianos · 06/10/2016 09:03

No idea there were so many heel refusers on here. I'm one myself Smile

OP, I'm a Londoner and I promise you that no one will give a fig if you wear flats. Going anywhere in London involves a lot of walking and many of us just cannot face the pain of heels so live in flats. I read something on the enbrogue blog about sales of trainers outnumbering sales of heels for the first time ever so more of us are embracing the comfort!

Rose gold and glittery trainers sound fab - more details please!

Oly5 · 06/10/2016 09:06

Yes I'd wear heels I'm afraid! Agree that clothes just look better with heels

BumbleNova · 06/10/2016 09:44

is it kensington roof gardens? its actually more low key than you would think. I'm another heels refusenik - they hurt my feet. my solution is boots with a small block heel. dressy but not trying too hard. and I agree with what others have said, london is not liverpool, you would look out of place dressed to the nines.

Oblomov16 · 06/10/2016 09:46

I would always wear heels for a night our. They make me feel fantastic. I also have a couple of great pair of boots, black patent, killer heels. They are comfy and I could have wear them all day.
But you should only wear them if they make you feel good, and if they are comfy.

specialsubject · 06/10/2016 09:49

London has to get home on the tube/ bus, where staggerers are a bad idea. A over t down a long escalator is darwin award stuff. So wear shoes you can walk in (crazy isnt it?).

Doobigetta · 06/10/2016 10:05

I'd wear heeled boots for that, but to me "big" night out = city centre and therefore taxis rather than walking. I usually go out locally, therefore on foot, and then I wear flats.

Vintagegirl1 · 06/10/2016 10:51

I wear heels constantly. Flat shoes make my calves ache, plus everyone's legs look better in heels.

polyhymnia · 06/10/2016 10:59

Another who doesn't own heels.

As said, London is very casual and your outfit sounds absolutely fine for the occasion.

Even for those who do want a bit more of a dressed up look there are masses of stylish and pretty flats around at the moment. They are really 'in', thank heavens. Not that I'd give them up if they became less so any time.

hollieberrie · 06/10/2016 11:56

JoyceDivision · 06/10/2016 21:22

converse rose gold dainty low

JoyceDivision · 06/10/2016 21:22

I don't usually wear the dainty style converse but this colour and the slimmer shape of the trainer seems better for nights out, iykwim

motherinferior · 06/10/2016 21:29

I can also recommend silver brogues.

blueshoes · 06/10/2016 22:44

I will definitely wear heels at the venue but will swap into trainers for the going to and from the venue.

ReallyShouldKnowBetterAtMyAge · 06/10/2016 23:25

How big is your bag blue? I normally just shove my phone in my coat pocket alongside some cash!
