Trainers: Cool and Functional Help!

I'm just about to send back these gorgeous but sadly not at all cushioned Gola Liberty print trainers, they just didn't feel at all like I might spring along the footpath! https://www.gola.co.uk/womens-spirit-liberty-ht-trainer-p1962

I hate the phrase 'perfect for the school run' but my back is bloody killing me since my ds started school and we're speed waking him there pushing my other dc in a double buggy and then the pick up home again, plus taking the other two around town during the day etc etc.

I own some proper running shoes but they're pretty unattractive. My various plimsolls and Converse are the same issue, just a thin sole.

I want something that looks good with blue or grey jeans which I mainly wear, cute, pretty, but cushioned and supportive. I do like the neon look I see other people in. Nike is probably a good bet but just took a look and they're £££ especially if you fancy a bit of Liberty print. New Balance maybe?

Does anyone own a pair they love the look of, go with lots of things, yet are also good for the old back! Smile

I'm just after throwing out a pair of New Balance. A hard piece came out and was digging into my heel. They were comfortable before that though. I have just bought a grey pair of Pull & Bear on Asos. I can't link but they are the ones that have laces that don't open. I didn't want to spend too much as am sure they will get wrecked during the winter months.

For day to day I wear Nike Air Thea (customised - they were my birthday present last year. These are definitely the most comfortable), Nike Pegasus (bought at a Nike outlet store in the US) and Adidas Stan Smiths. The Stan Smiths have the least comfort level as the other two have loads of padding, but they're still comfortable enough for school run, just not long walks.

Sportswear wise it's Asics Gel Kayano narrow width (always bought at an outlet mall as they're so bloody expensive).

I have to say I don't buy Nike for their looks but the ones I've bought have lasted ages and AGES! My husband bought New Balance ones recently and the sole came away from the upper in under three weeks, whereas my Nike Vomeros just go on and on and on. I'm sure Nike make stylish ones too. It's worth paying for the good quality - just look out for sale ones.

Well an update, I got some nearly new Nike Air Max off eBay to try out, I also have to wear orthotics so I needed to test if they fitted in there too as they raise you up quite a bit, but they fit fine.

It's been a week of school runs and I'm loving them, very springy and I feel taller as if in heels as I guess they are built up around the heel to fit the 'air' in. They look ok with no show socks - I got the first mainly grey pair I saw, they have bright neon orange at the sides which is growing on me. If I'm going to fork out for a pair I'll get a pretty Liberty pair - might ask SantaHalloween Wink
