Please tell me about brands I may have overlooked for leather bags

For the past few years I have been searching for the perfect tan leather cross body bag. Not too hard or structured, nice soft leather, no obvious branding, not too many details/too much hardware but not too plain either...I'm not asking much am I?!! I tend to be drawn towards Madewell (although not at the moment, all too structured), Fossil, J. Crew, Anthropologie, M&S men's dept and Kooba but nothing is floating my boat right now, so tell me, lovely stylish Mumsnetters, what brands have I overlooked? Budget not particularly important but I'd rather spend £150 than £600!

Jaeger (outlet too) has great quality bags.

KanyesVest · 17/09/2016 11:16

Have you looked at Furla? Nor sure what they have at the moment, but I've a delicious hobo. I also have a lovely Dickinson and Jones everyday cross body that is lovely leather. I got it in house of Fraser.

I got a lovely cross body bag from coach in their sale. £250 ish normally but it was half price. They had loads in their sale this summer so hopefully in January they will do the same!

LizzieMacQueen · 17/09/2016 12:40

Coach (who have excellent customer services), or Mulberry.

LizzieMacQueen · 17/09/2016 12:40

oh sorry , mis read I though you meaant budget was 150 - 600.

Scratch Coach and mulberry then.

Mcmcmcmc · 17/09/2016 12:45

& other stories has great leather bags.

botemp · 17/09/2016 12:50

Etsy has a surprising number of affordable high qualit handmade leather bags but your do have to weed through the selection a bit and it might take a few weeks to get to you as it's usually made to order.

TheForeignOffice · 17/09/2016 12:52

Are you familiar with Meli Melo?

www.melimelo.com/collections/cross-body-bags

The brand was originally popularized by Olivia Palermo (Thela) but they do different styles now and some really beautiful cross body bags.

aniceearlynight · 17/09/2016 12:53

Mimi Berry, as mentioned upthread. If you're anywhere near Bicester Village the Furla and Cochinelle stores there often have lovely stuff at a reduced price. I love my Celine Trio and think it's the perfect cross body. It's £££ though so look at Aurora London, who do a 'tribute' Hmm that can be monogrammed. Finally, JCrew, Boden and LK Bennett all do cross body bags very similar to the currently v fashionable Gucci Disco. Happy hunting!

mysteryfairy · 17/09/2016 12:56

Whistles is fab for bags at around the £200-£300 price point

botemp · 17/09/2016 13:01

Also, BeckSöndergaard do some nice ones, there's one in the Coggles outlet with a good discount but that one might be a tad small, rest of the outlet is also worth looking at. The Outnet is also worth keeping an eye on.
