School run boots

Just emerging from the fug of having a child at home. Now that DS has started school I want to up my game a little and dress a bit better but need practical stuff for the school run. Any verdicts on these boots? www.jonesbootmaker.com/s/ladies/boots/fly-london-boots-rough-wear-boot-2630449233

I'd wear them with skinny jeans probably or a tunic and tights or leggings

They will be great, get them. I have two pairs of Fly boots. One pair about seven years old, one about four years old and they have been worn a lot.

Do you mean literally dressing for the school run?

Or more of the jargon sense of 'school run dress' (which is nothing to do with an actual school run)?

The boots look fine, but I think they're overpriced. If you mean the literal school run, there are not dissimilar ones in Clarkes.

Is there a new rule that says you're not allowed to wear £130 boots to school pick-up?

I think they're great OP and I normally hate Fly footwear with their toes like something out of 'The Witches' and funny little wedges. So I say go for it!

I love them - £130 is reasonable for boots and they'll last years. There's no point spending £70-£80 on some you don't like as much - false economy.

They look really nice! I'm not sure I'd be able to afford that price but would love something similar.

Just had a look on the Clarks website and found these ankle boots which might be another good option.

I'm going to go against the grain here...

They are very mumsy!

Also I have had fly boots (engineer/biker) style and they fell to bits in less than a year and were worn 1/2 times a week max!

Good quality boots are worth spending money on because they last. They're lovely, go for it.

I don't like Fly as a rule but they're actually ok.

Surely op can spend whatever she wants on a pair of boots?

I always found my Fly boots (have had two pairs as I like the fit and comfiness) were quite water permeable which is pretty annoying. For this reason I couldn't recommend them as a practical school run solution.

Have you thought of the Ugg equivalent? I bought a pair of biker-style Ugg's a couple of winter's ago and they are just great. Can wear them with jeans or skirts/dresses. They are fur-lined so toasty warm. The only downside was the zip got stuck last winter but I managed to find a cobbler who replaced the zip for 18 quid and they are now as good as new. They are also very neat and not clumpy at all.

No, I just think this particular pair are overpriced for that style. And the quality of Fly gets mixed reviews at best.

The waterproof styles of Uggs are brilliant. I still love the Lesleys I got two years ago (but they don't seem to be around this year).

Agree flys let in water so not great for school run all weather scenarios.

Ive also had several pairs and they dont wear that well IMO.

Style is gorgeous though and a great update to the usual Fly style, so just get them anyway :)

I've got 2 pairs of the Fly Chelsea boot style ones and I sprayed them with rain protector when I first got them. No leaks whatsoever last winter. I got mine cheap from Amazon and the Christmas sales but I think they are well worth the money.

If you like them, get them and just give them a spray with rain protector to be sure they are waterproof.

I have those Gershwin Ugg boots and they're the best boots I've ever had. Totally waterproof, really warm and go with everything. I can't wait til its warm enough to wear them again!

Sorry, Cheap but I really hate both of those pairs of Clarks ones. I think Clarks have some really nice boots this year, but not those.

As for the boots in the OP, I think they are okay, but personally I don't really like calf length boots - prefer ankle or knee high.

Im afraid I don't like either of those Clarks ones either. I love calf length boots, like with everything, there are some lovely ones out there, along with lots of horrors! 😄

Imo all boots and shoes from Clarks are mumsy (sorry) and same goes for anything 'fly'! 😬
