Is expensive shampoo/conditioner a con?

So my hairdresser recommended Tigi products for my hair... which is fine, I know that they are trying to make a living. My hair does feel nice (but then it always does when I come out of the hairdressers!)

But is there actually any need to spend £10+ on shampoo or conditioner?

I need some convincing.

MERLYPUSSEDOFF for unnaturally coloured hair, the best thing is no shampoo at all, and just CO (conditioner only) washing. If you can't manage without shampoo, then Body Shop Rainforest is good, as it has no sulphates.

Wash your hair once with a sulphate free shampoo, then use a silicone free conditioner (Fructis from the £ shop is good) with a dab of your colour mixed in. Do a final rinse with a jug of cold as you can stand water with about 25ml of white vinegar. This should keep the run off to a minimum.

As a matter of interest, which pink did you use as some are worse than others.

In this house we've had various bottles of redken, Paul Mitchell, loccitane etc but in the end the one that does the job is £1 Alberto balsam coconut shampoo and conditioner!

I have lots of fine oily hair and dm has v coarse thick dry hair and amazingly it works for both of us.
