Lots of talk on bra size today. So where should I go to get measured?

I think I'm at least a D cup, but I'm paranoid that I've got it horribly wrong for years and years and years.

So where is the best place to get measured regardless of your size (I understand that Brassimo only sell bras of D cup onwards).

M&S are crap in my experience - and other posters have confirmed that I'm not being fussy - so where's the best place?

John Lewis, if you're lucky to have one near you

Stiller · 01/02/2007 22:49

John Lewis isn't local but it is do-able.

How are Allders or Debehams when it comes to bra fittings? Anyone got any experience?

M&S have this service i think.

MrsSpoon · 01/02/2007 22:50

I've found that a good independant bra shop is often the best bet (there is a great one in Stirling if you live in that area). Jenners in Edinburgh (if you are anywhere near there) were very good too.

MrsSpoon · 01/02/2007 22:55

I have tried Debenhams twice and twice been disappointed. I am small round the back, 32, but an E/F cup and found in two separate Debenhams stores that they were determined to fit me in a 36 or 38 with a smaller cup size.

I did have a fab bra fitting with M&S once, the fitter had just left Jenners in Edinburgh and she told me she wasn't meant to say but M&S didn't have a bra that would fit me as I was small round the back with a large cup size (at the time M&S didn't do bras like this), this was news to me at the time.

Stiller · 01/02/2007 23:02

Never heard of Jenners Mrs Spoon, I'm in London. I just want to go somewhere where they have good fitters and they will be nice about my ugly norks. I'm trying to revamp myself and I took a picture of myself the other day - all I could see was old women's boobs, so I think I need to start there. BUT I need to go somewhere where the staff will look after me and not make me feel more ugly than ever.

Hmmm, bit far to go for a bra!

How about Rigby & Pellar?

Stiller · 01/02/2007 23:13

is rigby and peller only for posh peopele? I've always wanted to go there.

OP posts:
wotzsaname · 01/02/2007 23:15

rigby and peller FFS just clicked on their web site and a bra came up for £54.00.. id want 4 for that!

MrsSpoon · 01/02/2007 23:18

No idea if it is for posh people (I've never been) but they have a good reputation.

MrsSpoon · 01/02/2007 23:20

LOL wozaname, IME after a certain cup size cheap bras are no longer available , I normally pay at least £30 for a bra.

cori · 01/02/2007 23:22

Rigby and Peler sell fantastic bras. I had a christmas fitting there. It may be expensive but for £60.00 you can feel like you have had a boob job

Stiller · 01/02/2007 23:22

£30 - now that I'd go to. £54 - I'd have to have a man in mind - and unfortunately I don't.

OP posts:
wotzsaname · 01/02/2007 23:30

well im on th cusp of a cup im a 38D, so M&S are still ok for me. sorry if you have bigger norks and cant use M&S, but its not right you have to pay for 50% more for fabric cos your breast are larger !

They dont do that in dress of shoe sizes!

PandaG · 02/02/2007 00:00

I can recommend Bravissimo if you are over a D. Realy really good. Right bra and I looked as though I'd lost 1/2 a stone instantly. Not cheap, £23 ish cheapest, and go up to a lot more, but well worth it imo

Stiller · 02/02/2007 00:02

I'm frightened of looking like an arse though if they measure me and I come out as a C cup.

OP posts:
wotzsaname · 02/02/2007 00:04

get measured before the summer, be brave t-sirts will be back any minute!

Stiller · 02/02/2007 00:10

T-shirts . I'll have to get organised then. Coats and big jumpers are hiding my ridiculous norks at the moment, but I could hardly expeect or want them to be popular in July/August.

I just want someone (like a mum or something) to say 'here you are, this is what you need'. I'm going to look into Rigby and Peller I think.

OP posts:
wotzsaname · 02/02/2007 00:12

go for it. have fab norks for summer

please buy at least 2 so you can wear and wash one!

Stiller · 02/02/2007 00:18

How much dosh do I need to take with me though? for 2 bras I mean.

OP posts:
wotzsaname · 02/02/2007 00:23

christ knows....take credit card!

Stiller · 02/02/2007 00:25

lol - ok then - I'll start a savings account!

OP posts:
wotzsaname · 02/02/2007 00:27

you can give savings accounts a name. you culd call it the "fab norks" savings account.

eidsvold · 02/02/2007 03:29

another vote for John Lewis - had my fittings done there when buying maternity/breastfeeding bras.-

USAUKMum · 02/02/2007 12:58

I've been to Rigby & Pellar can't recommend them enough. You walk in and they practically already know your size. (I'm a 34G) They have a whole range of bras, styles, etc. You should get there early however, as they are very popular especially the one on Conduit St.

However, can also recommend the Peter Jones at Sloane Square.

I also shop in Bravissimo, which are good.
